    I hate to admit it too but man they get me emotional. Its the whole package. There is so much raw emotion in her singing backed by one of the best bands I have ever heard. Very few bands from the west are even capable of putting on an emotional show at this level. Dude you are not alone. I am an unashamed diehard fan.

    Their choroegrpaher is Mikiko Mizuno, known professionally as simply Mikiko or Mikikometal. She is one of Japan's best choreographers. She was the stage director and choreographer for Japan's cultural presentation at the 2016 Summer Olympics closing ceremony and is one of the directors for the Japan 2020 Summer Olyimpics. She has been Su's choreogrpaher through most of her career (so Karen's Girls, SG and then BM so 12+ years so they work well together).

    Su's loud voice is what Koba, the one that had the idea, heard and thought she would be great in front of metal band. There is even talk when he got the real band to be part of this experiment, they wanted to know if they should go low on her and they were told play loud she can keep up. Babymetal was formed different than most that it all started because of Su. The they got Yui and Moa. The band came later and the rest is history. When they announced an arena show in LA i had to go. It is going to be awesome. You know they are going to do something awesome there for the show.

    That particular concert took place on 2014 and Suzuka was 16 years old then, so I think she's very talented not only in terms of her singing but her whole stage presence and carisma making her a strong performer. So the guy that was wondering if she had trained and making it appear she had a lot of experience is right. Suzuka had been scouted and trained as an idol when she was an elementary school girl, I don't remember exactly how old she was when she started making the babymetal thing but it mus had been prior to 2012 when she was also part of a group called Sakura Gakuin.

    Oh yes, go to the show, vlog, live stream, do the lot! I'll watch and I'm sure many others will too.
    This was at the Budokan in Tokyo - in 1967 the Beatles were the first band to play there. In 2014 Babymetal became the youngest female band to headline (average age just under or just over 15). Su was 16 and a couple of months old ... and yes she had already been singing on stage for 8 or 10 years by then ... when you get further down into the Fox hole you will find videos of her when she was really tiny, she is a tad over 5 feet tall now, maybe 5'2".

    A lot of people get a little surprised about the high level of professionalism from those girls thinking "for god sake, they are only kids".
    Well, don´t get to surprised. Suzuka (main singer) is on the stages from a very young age. She win a beauty contest with only 8 years. She enters in an idol school at only 9 years. She sing in a group with only 10 years. She do a lot of study and work, even in musical, theater and of course in the TV idol program "Sukura Gakuin"
    This concert is from 2016, when she was about 18 years i think, and in this moment she have about 8 years of experience on stages.
    Btw, in this song his voice sound very powerful, this is the reason because she was selected for Babymetal. As an anecdote, she says sometimes that in his house, when si was practicing singing his parents says "Suzuka, sing lower. The neighbors are going to complain"

    I've said it before, but Su doesn't need to fear any of the pyrotechnics because she is fire herself.
    That solo (and Rondo of Nightmare from the same concert) are what sold me on BABYMETAL.
    Before that I liked them, and thought the whole idea was a lot of fun, but seeing Su at sixteen in full Metal Queen mode took my fandom to another level.
    One cool thing about 'Akatsuki'.
    It's written by combining the characters for "Red" and "Moon".
    Which helps explain the red moon imagery BABYMETAL uses in many of their concerts.
    In the track listing the character "Kurenai" (often translated as crimson) is used instead of "Red", probably as a tribute to the X-Japan song with that name.
    Kami Band guitarists that night were Leda Cygnus (with the black Strandberg guitar) and Takayoshi Ohmura (with his ESP Snapper custom "Pink-chan").
    BTW; Yes of course!
    Go to Atlanta or Orlando. You'll kick yourselves if you don't.

    Has anyone told you guys where the fox hand gesture came from? It represents a Kitsune, a Japanese trickster spirit that shapeshifts from human to a fox. Kinda like Loki, god of night and mischief. That's why you have seen comments about falling into the "foxhole". You might enjoy the song, "The One". It's a love letter that Babymetal wrote to all their fans, great video and they did two versions, one in Japanese and one in English. Cheers guys

    If you have a chance to go see Babymetal live DO IT!!!
    One word of advice, though, don't wait to buy tickets. I just took a quick scan seats available at the Atlanta and Orlando shows. There are plenty of floor tickets available, but they probably won't last long. If you want a seat, act now because there aren't that many left at either show.
    RE the competence, confidence and cockiness thing. Babymetal started in 2010 sub-unit of the Japanese idol group Sakura Gakuin when Sumetal (lead singer) was 13 or 14 and Moametal & Yuimetal (backup singers / dancers) were 12. In 2013. when Su 'graduated' from SG (it's a Japanese Idol thing) they became independent They released their first album in 2014. So, by the time this performance was recorded in 2015 the girls had been at it for about 5 years already, not to mention their previous experience as young idol singers while part of Sakura Gakuin.
    So, yeah, there's a reason behind why these young (at the time) girls are so competent and confident. At this point they had been, literally, performing for almost half their lives.

      The Red and Black Budokan shows were on 1st and 2nd March 2014, before they headed out on their first world tour.
      When a Japanese act plays at Budokan, they are considered to have 'made it' in Japan. Babymetal only played there for the two nights because it is now too small for them. Their largest headliner was nearly a year and a half later at Tokyo Dome for two nights, with 55,000 each night. This is where the megastars play.
      I heard that they like playing the smaller venues, as they felt that the fans at the back of large venues like Tokyo Dome couldn't be involved as much due to the distance.
      The smaller venues provide a more intimate experience for fans, but the larger ones pop more on the videos.

    Yes, go to the concert! If you have the chance to see BABYMETAL, DO IT!
    A couple of things about that, though, to keep in mind:
    1) Although the fans would love you streaming the whole thing live, I recommend - as would most fans, I'm sure - not being too hung up on that and constantly paying attention to your phone/stream. Make a couple of short videos and pictures as a memory and to share afterwards but, for the most part, put your phone in your pocket and enjoy the music and the show!
    2) The shows in the smaller venues won't have the elaborate stage production, of course.
    3) The non-arena shows will be 'only' one hour long. It will be an hour in which you'll be blasted with energy from the girls and the band and, depending on your engagement, you'll be worn out at the end but, nevertheless, it will be only an hour. (There aren't any pauses or the girls talking to the audience so for them it's an hour of full on performing, hence why.)
    As to your question about Su's (Suzuka "Su-metal" Nakamoto) charisma and stage presence: yes, the girls work with a choreographer but Su simply has that special something that she turns on when she goes on stage. And for this particular song, there was hardly any choreo or instructions, it's mostly her own interpretation. Oh, and she was only 16 (and three months) at the moment of this concert........ ;-)

  • @Singulitarian
    @Singulitarian 5 лет назад +4

    Their choreographer is Mikiko, one of the best in Japan. Every aspect of their performance is mapped out for effect. They do have some free moments during more recent shows, but even these are planned. BABYMETAL is never "off" on stage.

  • @autohmae

    The musicians are some of the best musicians from Japan. They do lots of projects, for example Takayoshi Ohmura with the pink sparkling guitar, he plays with Marty Friedman as well.Just like Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin, a lot of them are also session musicians. They love being in Babymetal, not just because they get to play music they enjoy, but they get to turn it up loud ! You are right, Suzuka started her professional career in the entertainment industry at age 2, as a kids model. Things like clothes and toys. So yeah, she's used to being on stage, center of attention, etc. :-) Suzuka has done a bunch of things before Babymetal was created around her voice and style. The venue where the Road of Resistance live in Japan was recorded with 20 000 people, Suzuka had already performed there at at age 10 as part of an other group (they did the music for an anime for kids, so they got kids fo the music), I'll just quote: "Back then the three were elementary schoolers and had not performed in front of huge audience like > 20k. Ayami and Yuika were kind of nervous under that circumstance. With that said, Su-chan was the one sleeping like a log at their dressing room until an hour before they went on the stage."
    But let's not forget Suzuka is 16 in the video you just reacted to, so it's just 6 years later LOL
    The song is probably a tribute to X-Japan Kurenai. Maybe also react to that ! ('last live' is a good show) I think you'd enjoy that too.
    Babymetal shows are an experience ! go do it ! :-)
    Barry Manilow is an interesting choice I can see how you got that idea, I would say this is very much her own style. But I wonder what you'll say about No Rain, No Rainbow, because we know from an interview a western singer was mentioned.
    I would recommend reacting to an other song of this show: Rondo Of Nightmare at Budokan with Mischief of God Intro

  • @donald-waters
    @donald-waters 5 лет назад +16

    You ARE going ;)
    A few suggestions:
    1st... Don't live stream in the show. Watch and hear every second of it, with your own eyes and ears. You will rob yourself of the experience, otherwise. There will be tons of cam videos, from other folks.
    2nd... IMHO, it would be far more interesting if you come up with 10 standard questions, (5 w's, who, what, why, where, when), & 5 questions that speak to your own experience. Use these questions to interview people in line; outside, waiting for merch, getting drinks, between the opening band and Babymetal, leaving the show, etc.
    ** Babymetal's management did these kind of interviews, before the shows when they 1st started touring internationally, to use for DVD extras and to figure out who their audience was.
    3rd... You're not going to be able to interview the singers. They had an early negative experience granting access to independent media. You may get the chance to interview members of the band, before the show, taking cigarette breaks after sound check. ( I guarantee that you will find someone that could translate, while interviewing people in line.)
    4th... Enjoy the show. It'll be awesome.

    Just a note, it's pronounced Akat'ski; in Japanese the "u" after an "s" is often subvocalized, which is coincidentally why Su-metal has the hyphen, to indicate that the "u" is vocalised.
    Mikiko Mizuno, the choreographer, has said that Su takes the steps she is taught and adds her own flare. She is quite the showman., She brings attitude

    • @0okamino

      Otherwise, she'd just be S-metal, and that would be weird. It also does seem to be elongated into Suu when written in kana, probably for the same linguistic purpose. :)
      Apparently, she generally improvises moves during her solo songs. Yui and Moa expressed being impressed by that. It really does seem like Su was born with a mic in her hand, and crawled to the nearest stage as soon as she could.

      Zeal and Ardor are awesome! I second your suggestions! I've to catch them live again :)
      you should check out more from BABYMETAL, as KDTGrave already mentioned, no song sounds the same, everything is different(exploring all possible genres of metal, mixing it with different stuff and music around the world, like one of my favorites "YAVA!" which includes Ska)
      and, always try to get a live video, but stay away from fan-compilations, they've nearly everytime bad audio quality

    Amy Lee can't hold a candle to Su! The band's name is the Kami Band (kami = god). If you want to see the band get some credit, try "Rondo of Nightmare" with Mischief of gods intro. You just saw Su-metal's 'death stare'. Have fun at the concert.

    Hi Guys - I love your reaction videos and have a request/suggestion. (Before I get to it, review Karate it's amazing. Be sure to review the official video. It's the best version.) Anyway, can you react to Onedari Daisakusen? This is a bangin song, driving guitars, solid drumming and is very different from the BabyMetal songs you’ve already reacted to. I think people will enjoy your reactions to this one. The band keeps their foot on the gas the whole song. Here are some reasons why to review this song;
    Lead singer SuMetal doesn’t sing in this one. This song features the backup singers YuiMetal and MoaMetal. They are called ‘Black BabyMetal.’ (The mythology is that these two ate chocolate, even though its forbidden by the Fox God, and became demons.) They look adorable but they’re naughty little girls.
    The songs kicks ass, and has a little hip hop flavor, ala Limp Biscuit.
    This would be a good one to read the English translation before you watch it so you’ll know that even though what you’re seeing is super cute, it’s all about how they use their charms to manipulate their father to get whatever they want. This is Daddy’s little girl combined with a gold digger. They sing about all the tactics they use on him. The title translates to ‘Beg Father-for-it Operation.’
    Here is a link to it. I’ve seen others use this link in reactions on RUclips; ruclips.net/video/VQ9qBj_KqR8/видео.html

    Oh, yes. Do the Babymetal Bash.

  • @jeffschreifels8651
    @jeffschreifels8651 5 лет назад +11

    Yeah, she has a ton of confidence but it doesn't come across as 'I'm the greatest ever!' She seems very humble but just believes in herself and believes and trusts in the people around her. It's weird but this interview done when, I think, she was 15??? was one of the things that solidified me as a fan. The way she conducts herself here with such poise and confidence is inspiring. ruclips.net/video/-iZ75I3MMt8/видео.html
    Also, at about 3:41 of your video Su shouts AKATSUKI DA!! So she pronounces the song title there. :)

    • @ClawCarver
      @ClawCarver 5 лет назад +2

      I completely agree, and I think it ought to be mentioned more. When I first tumbled into the fox hole and watched some of Su's interviews (and her Sakura Gakuin graduation speech) I was struck by all the things you mention, and the combination of confidence and humility is absolutely affecting and inspirational. She's also caring and creative and funny. It strikes me that these are all vital ingredients in the Babymetal recipe. Maybe Koba chose her for her voice, but I don't believe he chose her *only* for her voice.

    • @jeffschreifels8651
      @jeffschreifels8651 5 лет назад +2

      @@ClawCarver yep, Suzuka is more than just that voice. Then again, it seems like all the SG girls are super-ladies just like she is.

    that moment you realize some teenage Japanese girls are more metal than you ever were lmao .. yeah first time I saw BabyMetal was on the Late show with Steven Colbert and it fucking blew my mind so I had to find out more and this was the second song I saw from them and my mind was blown even more when I saw how professional this all is with a amazing band I been a musician 40 years and these guys are great and the girls are top notch professionals even in their early teens you have to see No Rain No Rainbow and ijime dame zetai live at Sonisphere festival in the UK what happened was they were set to perform on one of the smaller stages and the day before the show they got moved to the main stage and just blew everyone away and tahts when they blew up all over the world .. I keep an eye on them cause I am always curious to see what they do next and what direction this goes in the future .. anyway great reaction .. thanks B and S I will hit the subscribe button ..

    They were trained basically at school, they went to an Elementary/Middle/High school specificaly toward training young girls for Showbusiness and to become J-Pop Idols. atleast Moa,Yui, and Su did, im unsure about Yui's replacement and the other girls.
