- Three point turn for beginners,
The three point turn (sometimes called a K-turn, or broken U-turn) is the standard method of turning a vehicle around to face the opposite direction in a limited space, using forward and reverse gears. This is typically done when the road is too narrow for a U-turn. This maneuver is a common requirement in driving test.
The maneuver consists of driving across the road turning towards the offside curb, reversing across the road to the original nearside curb while turning, and driving forward towards the original offside curb, now the nearside. In a narrow road or with a longer vehicle, more than three legs may be required to achieve a full 180 degree rotation. Which is fine, you can do it in more than 3 turns.

I watched this video tutorial yesterday and I think that the three point turn is simple because all you’re doing is first turn on your left signal, then steer the wheel to left to move forward, steer the wheel to the right to park, and steer wheel to the left again to move forward to the directions you’re going to. Soon when I take my road test, I will know automatically what to do! Thanks for this video tips.

I remembered doing a 3 point turn on my first driving test. I even asked the gal from DMV on how to do it. I failed the first test by 2 points. I did passed the 2nd time. That was almost 23 years ago. I still can do a 3 point turn. It is pretty easy to do. I did it on my last vehicle that I had. I even can do it in my vehicle. It is very rare for me to do it.

The video is helpful thanks, where I live they drive on the left side though and the instructor wants us to do the 3 point turn while the vehicle is like always moving or rolling so it has been tough, but I just started learning. So hopefully in time I'll get it.

Thank you for the tutorial. It’s been a year since I did the test with my drivers Ed teacher. I now have to do the actual test soon in April. Now I remember and I recall I actual did it really well especially under fearful circumstances such as a train passing by and no where to go so my drivers Ed teacher asked me if I would like to do a three point turn. Hesitant I said yes. And I remember I was so scared because of other cars but I let them know what I was doing and everything was fine.

if your turn signal turns off when you have backed up do you legally have to put it on again to pull forward into the right lane?

If i'm not mistaken,the beginning of the clip shows the driver manipulating the steering while stationary,before beginning the reverse part of the manoeuvre....i was taught not to turn the steering wheel until i was moving.
When your releasing your foot off the breaks to turn, do you press down on the gas? or do you just release your foot?

I'm kind of confused. When I do this with my instructor we do it by the entrance of a cemetery people a lot to people come there since it's empty so there's not really any curbs over there . There is curb behind me but I do the 3 point turn in the opposite direction of that makes sense and he tells me to turn the car completely to make sure it's straight on the first part but I noticed in the video the guy stops when he gets close to the curb so the car isn't straight and how do you know when to stop on the second part when you're reversing and do you have to look towards the back the entire time ?

This is actually a wrong information of 3 point turn , guy just turn on the signal only while furst left turn (in correct procedure its mandatory to give signal before even you try start turning your wheel )
Hence it require 3 signal changes in 3 wat turn ( left,right and then left ) to perfectly completed .

Yeah this is how you do it I did it like this I hate the tight space tho it makes it much harder to do it.
When you going to reverse back do you put your left signal on or no signal at all?
We only signal at the beginning.
There use no such thing as reverse "back "? Lol reverse already means to go back

What is k point and Y point turn? Can you please explain!
Here in hk is different and i don’t quite understand why doing a three point turn requires first move handbrake shoulder check L&R,second reverse again handbrake and then going for the last move.
For the reverse part should your right blinker be on?

In massachusetts, always HAVE TO to look back when backup (step 2 of 3 points turn), always have to SIGNAL LEFT when return back to lane (step 3). I failed my test because of these.
