As a 12 year old suburban white child living in the Midwest, I discovered Ray Charles and had my eyes permanently opened to what music would become to me in my life. Thank you, Mr Charles, a million times over.
if you listen to all the internal rhythms that are 3’s inside every beat of the 6 slow counts you can stay right with him, the drummer is listening intently to Ray as well of course. At times Ray throws 6 notes inside a 3 which are mathematically speaking 16th notes which further subdivide the slow rolling blues.
It's his version. It is an old blues song. Here it is by Joe Cocker with a whole different vibe from the piano. Piano played by Chris Stainton. ruclips.net/video/jRnff07ogOE/видео.html
Vrai Joe in his East Fillmore show "Mad Dogs & Englishmen" covered "sticks and stones", "let's go get stone", in addition to "I'll drown in my own tears" by his idol Genius Ray Charles
Ron Wood is one lucky guitar player to be in the presence of such all time great musicians as this particular night. In fact all of those Stones are lucky as hell that the white folks embraced their interpretation of the blues. Not sure if the black community ever bought into it but at least it stimulated more interest and spread the word how great this music is.
The blues had a baby and they named it rock n roll , this particular song I believe is originally a spiritual, and yes you are correct as far as the Stones , and just about every other famous band from that time copying the blues, they did go on and create music that is more than copying the blues

Out of everyone Paul probably dug it the most- imagine what a thrill it must have been to share the stage with an, at the time, living legend. Have you heard him talk about trying to cop a gospel lick during one of Sly's appearances on the Letterman show in 83? Check it out, pretty cool.
What would Django Reinhardt do if he hadn't burned his hand, if Ray hadn't been blind? What difference does it make. They were two of the greatest musicians that were ever on this planet.
They don't make em like this no more! RIP Ray Charles❤
Check out thr tesky brothers.
Him doing this live always smokes the studio for me. So powerful
All the good musicians have passed! You don’t hear this soulful music anymore! Sad

Sorry......maybe it's me but I dont understand a word you are saying. ????? What is your point. ???
@@murph3001 My point is that blues is the Black man's art but we can all share in it since we all suffer. Does that make sense?
Many black ppl love the stones from otis redding athetha franklin tina turner and many more covering the stones ..
I cried so much

This was the song I danced to with my wife at my wedding…
It brings a tear
Into my eyes
When I begin
To realize
I've cried so much
Since you've been gone
I guess I'm drowning in my own tears
I sit and cry
Just like a child
My pouring tears
Are running wild
If you don't think
You'll be home soon
I guess I'll drown, oh yeah
In my own tears
I know it's true
Into each life
Oh some rain, rain must pour
I'm so blue
Here without you
It keeps raining
More and more
Why don't you
Come on home
Oh yes so I won't
Be all alone
If you don't think
You'll be home soon
I guess I'll
(Drown in my own tears)
Ooh, don't let me
(Drown in my own tears)
When I'm in trouble, baby
(Drown in my own tears)
Oh, yeah, baby don't let me
(Drown in my own tears)
I guess I'll drown in my own tears
Oh, mmmmm
thank you man

What he would have done had he not been blind???
Fortunately medicine didn’t intervene so we could find out. The depth of his talent was endless.

I think it added on 2 the pain and gift
devastante...mauro dessy
Ray was an original-so much emotion and pain-better than a psychiatrist. You too can make art. ( probably not as good as Ray)
