i work with Carbon Fiber and other composite materials during my senior year in college. Our group made a Carbon Fiber body panels and wing package for a formula one style car. It was nice hearing you talk about its properties
Thank you. Yet again you are the only person who's review is actually useful. I've had so many conversations where people can understand the difference between carbon injected and regular carbon fiber.
I picked one up at nxl Vegas and love it it's super light is argue even lighter than some of my other shaft and carbon fiber barrels it also looks super cool which is a plus
I could be wrong, but it looks like the back has a lip so the insert isn't the first thing the paintball touches. Similar to the FR back how it only comes out the front. I'm not sure why this wasn't a thing on the other freak style barrels as it's a great feature.
Please do another video on this !!! Can you touch on how the seal is for the insert and the tip is being in the middle of the barrel? That is the only downside with the freak is that gap between the insert and the tip isn’t perfectly honed.
When you talk about carbon coming un-wrapped, as long as you're quick with cleaning a carbon barrel, you honestly shouldn't see any sort of deformation unless it's just not made very well. For reference, I've got a deadlywind barrel that's easily 10 years old and has tens of thousands of rounds through it. Still looks like a mirror inside.
Great video man. I have the Eclipse FL barrel for the light weight and the new carbon fiber technology seems cool. Def not worth the upgrade tho. The way you break it down is always refreshing. Keep em coming!
the FL has the same issue..Our whole team uses CS2's and half of us have had issues with the FL tips coming apart luckily for me I got one of the first run Parabolic FL tips definitely a game changer
Nice! I wish more professionals would make a video or two I’ve known griffin for awhile, i remember he was frustrated his new ego (09?) wasn’t shooting as straight as my ion, I told him my theory on lball/bore match
Very informative thank you. I did however want to see if the insert slid in and out of the back as if there wasn't an inner o ring inside the back like it does on mine. Also if the insert shook when the tip was threaded on.
Im not 100% sure if some have an o-ring or not, mine does not. Normally that is to keep the insert in place, with the IC the tip and back and both making contact with the insert and kind of pressing it, or holding it in place.
@@PaintballRuinedMyLife I didn't think there was an o ring in mine either but I picked at the inner groove with a pick and pulled one out. It was thin. Take a pick to yours and let me know please.
Thanks. I'm wondering if I should even bother getting this as I do own a full Freak Xl kit. Since I already own all of the sleeves for this, ide wonder if I'de like the looks of this CI over the AA front/back on my BL V1.
It seems like you are drawn to interesting technology like I am. Near the end of the video you mentioned that it doesn't matter a whole lot what the barrel actually is as long as you are using some sort of insert system to match to the paint. Does that mean that you personally wouldn't invest say an acculock system or this IC barrel over a more generic Freak XL barrel kit package?
I haven't personally used an Acculock, but I've heard people say its insert setup (the Acculock part) really does create a better "seal" between the insert and tip, eliminating any gaps or minute angular misalignment between the two. Like I said, I haven't used it, but if that's true, it seems like it could be worthwhile.
Great content man! Love how you explain it, thanks for the info! I have a SP Amp, do you think the IC back works with like an All American Barrel tip XL freak?
You said the paintballs will rub the resin off. If there setup is insert with aluminum tip, when would the ball touch the carbon fiber? Or were you referring to the empire?
Hello im new to paintball and im looking into getting a blitz 3 for my first electronic gun should i spend the money on that or save up to get like a mini gs or axe
Hmmmm my deadly winds whip tip measures on average 3 decibels quieter than my Luxe tip on my X and even 1 decibel lower than the FL barrel on my CS2(that’s made by deadly winds also). There is a reason why their barrels are the quietest on every marker I own , deadly winds uses 3 different hardness/layers of carbon weave and resin in their barrels. So it acts to suppress excess noise from the vibration/resonance you would experience with an aluminum barrel.
There are decibal ratings that measure the pure power behind the noise, and others that consider the frequency range as well......so it gets confusing IMO. Generally higher frequencies don't carry as far as lower frequencies if they're both at the same power level. That's how my limited knowledge understands it. I may be wrong. The gun itself always fires the same power level but the barrel affects which frequencies are transmitted most. Then of course you have to consider if you're hiding the noise from yourself, or the guys you're shooting at. Then of course you have to consider that humans fall only within a certain hearing range and we vary quite a bit. It gets complex. In my long paintball experience I'll say this. You're really never going to be quiet enough to hide from the other team. Once you shoot multiple shots we'll know you're there. So you may as well go with whichever barrel allows you to hear your team mates and communicate best. In most cases, the variance between barrel types won't have a drastic difference either way. I mean players with older loud egos have no problem shooting people.........so......ya. Play paintball and don't fuss over the details too much.
Bill Kennedy totally agree brother, I only brought up sound signature because Brad does every time he brings up Carbon barrels. To me and anybody else that competes competitively in the NXL could care less about noise. I use the All American tip on my Luxe now because I like how the tip sights down the marker better than the skinnier deadly winds barrel/tip. I prefer personally a barrel with a thicker tip to make my snap shots a little crispier, even if I have to sacrifice sound signature
Should update your resume, and be a Pre-production Consultant for these paintball companies and fields. They would save money in the long run by getting, the finished product functioning properly and having what a player may need while playing. I bet any project you help out on would make these companies, who pump out the same thing year after year a ton of money with something just a little different but useful.
very good video, very informative. I was checking this barrel out a while back and you answered my question about the aluminum tip vs all carbon tip. but recently I found this freak XL barrel here is the link mastersconi.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=59_66&product_id=117. a good inexpensive barrel that accepts freak XL inserts to review. also has many barrel mod attachments for shaft barrel system and many more.

Nicely put together video. I use the stock barrel on my 160r, but have been considering an insert kit since paint seems to vary a lot.

That’s a nice barrel kit. I’m interested!

Very informative, what is your most common size insert you use ?
You're the man.

Carbon port holes grab on to the fibers from cleaning, and I can visibly see a chip in the center of my freak xl
As always love your videos and your take on different products.
Came for the barrel review, stood for the science lesson.

I no longer have it ☹️ Im sure Carbon would know, hit them up they are normally super responsive.

Thanks for the review! Can you maybe do the parabolic barrels next?
So this fits a WGP autococker right?

Dammmmm, more Carbon products I need to buy now.

What camera and lens do you use for these videos? Thanks!
Would y’all recommend this for a mini gs ..?
They have a coupon code CRBN10 for 10 percent off. How is the barrel holding up?
Just ordered one
