Tip top info right there , whenever we can eliminate anything to do with a floppy seat ,its a good thing . On both man and machine . Well crafted and thoroughly explained .This will be perfect for anyone in the Can -Am Spyder community .
Fantastic job 👏 👍! My 21' RTL has the same screw. I installed both of mine 2 weeks ago with the Show Chrome parts. I believe these are much better than stock, it seems. I really love that Silver/black on your Spyder. My last 2 trucks and my current truck are the Silver/Black combo. My Spyder is Marsala/Black because Silver wasn't available .
My first Spyder was the 2020 RT, white with black, which is my favorite. They changed from white to Hyper Silver in 2022, which is a very light silver, so I do like it. They brought back the white for 2024 but only for the Sea-To-Sky. 😁👍
I got really lucky getting that lower clip to remove the old shock quickly, and getting the bottom of the new shock snapped in quickly. It was TIGHT down there. I was worried I'd end up using the "bleep" sound effect a bunch of times 😄🤣👍
Oh yeah, I gotta get one for my 2020 RTL thanks for your video, very helpful. How much was your total slingmods price if you remember? $33.95 for the item, not sure of shipping and tax. Thanks.
It's free shiiping when the toatal order is over $75. I bought both the trunk lid shock and seat shock on sale for $29.95 each, and I also ordered the front LED light bar for 69.95, and I'm sure there was tax, but shipping was free. If you just order the seat shock, shipping might be $7 or $8 maybe, but I'm not certain.
Why on a machine that costs 40k plus in Aussie dollars comes supplied with such poor quality / weak struts on the seat and top case? Can Am BRP contacted me in Australia recently and asked whether I would recommend Can Am to my friends. Out of 10 I gave them a 6. I think BRP Can Am are doing themselves a disservice by not addressing these issues through a product recall. I replaced both of my struts with locally made struts from Australian Gas Struts after getting mucked around by BRP here in Australia. Pretty lousy they don’t address this issue during pre- delivery.
I am surprised myself, that BRP hasn't beefed up the seat and trunk shocks. Fortunately, the upgrade is not expensive, but it would be in BRP's best interest to use better seat and trunk shocks up front.
I know, I got lucky prying the clip on the old shock. For the new shock, no, you do not open the clip. You just push the new shock onto the "ball-head" of that bolt, and it snaps right on to it. The trick to do this is to get your thumb as far down the shaft as you can and press against the shaft for leverage, and with the other hand, you pull the top of the shock backwards, the bottom of the shock then snaps on to the ball head. That part is fairly easy. Removal of the old shock is the tricky part, getting a thin flat screwdriver inserted under that clip down at the bottom of the shock, again it's not hard once you get the screwdriver under that clip, but I can see how that could take a few tries 😄👍
Thank you so much.. I just did this all by myself. I will admit it took about 3 times to get the old shock off. You really do have to get as far down as you can on the new shock and push into place. Great video that walked me thru it. Thank you.
@sheilapappe6170 Well, you just made my day, so thank you 😊☺️😁👍 and I'd bet that when you heard the bottom of the shock snap into place, you either giggled or cheered 👊😂👍
@SpyderWayne I couldn't believe it!!! I tried to pull it off, it wouldn't come off. Lol. I was questioning myself. Was it really this easy?, yes it was.. It is all put back together and holding strong. Maybe 30 minutes top. I have a BRP driver backrest so that added some time.
That’s handy dandy buddy ! Nice mod indeed ! Cheers amigo
Thank you, Eddie, now I won't need two hands to gas up my Spyder 🙌😄👌
Well done Wayne. I am sure that I would be trying to figure where that shock went after dropped it inside the Spyder LOL!!
Haha... yeah, I've had to go on a hunting trip or two, for stuff dropped into Spyder oblivion 😳🥴😡🤣

Great mod for others to see how easily they can fix this...
Yep... if I can do it... (you know the rest) 😁

Thanks Wayne. So far, both of my shocks are still good, but I will definitely keep this in mind.
Hmmm, is it possible BRP only puts the good ones in the S2S 🤔🙄 ... nah 😊😄
My next purchase. ( I already did the top box lid.)
I got very lucky removing the seat shock, and very lucky installing the new one. It's a very tight space for the bottom mount (inside the Spyder) 🥴😁👍
Good one, and very good information Wayne..
Thanks, JB 😁👍 See ya Saturday.
Nice job Wayne!
It's a little tricky but not too bad, thanks 😁👍
A bit fiddly to get to, but well worth the effort. Great job showing folks how to fix this known issue. 👏

Wayne Smoaks? You’re going to be the next Shawn Smoak - nicely done.
Haha... well, except for the fact he knows what he's doing 😁😄👍
Wayne Smoaks....love it, Moose!
@@PurpleOnThree I have my moments of grandeur
Well Sypder Wayne ordered my trunk shock so I can fix it since it no longer stays up when I open it. Sit still works fine, for now. Lol
Upgrades that aren't expensive and easy to install are wonderful 😁👍
Love it Wayne, good to see you are enjoying your retirement.
The only suggestion i can make is put a link to the product down below for folks interested in purchasing this shock.
Good advice, Eric. Now done, thank you, Sir 🤓👍👍
🤙👍👍👍 looks tricky for sure
Yeah, so little room down there, I got lucky. Thanks, Greg 😁👍
I think I see what you wanted us to see!
You really saw it ? That's a "shock" 😄😂
Great video!
Well, this is a nice surprise... thank you for watching, and THANK YOU for the solution Show Chrome !!! 😁👍👍
@@SpyderWayne Happy to help. We ride our spyders, and I personally was frustrated in holding up the trunk to get things in and out of.
First time's a charm! Yes!!
Yep, a charm and a big PHEWWW ! 😅
When I gassed up for the third time, the seat stayed up. I guess it comes and goes as it pleases.
Don't worry... it will "go..."
@@SpyderWayne I’m sure.
Yes, no lessons from Torquey Tommy lol...
Haha... poor Tommy Torquey will be hearing about that for a long time 😄

"If I can do it, anybody can do it!" lol
Hey 🤔 ... that sounds so familiar 😂
No, I don't lol, and I have afflictions but not with my seat or trunk lol

That was luck. 1st try on both. Did you pull the C ring open before installing new one?

Hi-Yo Silver medal🥈🤗👍👍
No one likes a droopy seat or trunk shock , Cheers
Especially the seat on Spyders, the fuel cap is under the seat 😖🤬 Thanks, Dave 😁👍
