    Hey Spyder Wayne, i bought this light to fit to my 2023 spyder, and when I removed the black cover there was no cable present inside? any ideas? I assume I need to run a cable!

    • @SpyderWayne
      @SpyderWayne  2 месяца назад

      Very odd, on mine and several others I know, the plug was attached to the back of the plastic cover that gets removed, as shown in my video, and one of my friends who installed the same light has a 2023 Spyder RT Limited. Is yours a Limited?

    • @Motorhomelife_Adventures
      @Motorhomelife_Adventures 2 месяца назад +1

      @@SpyderWayne Hey, yes it is a 2023 rt limited, mind you Im also in the uk, not sure if that makes any difference at all. Ive had a poke around and does not appear to be any cable. I will speak to the dealer when i get it in for its first oil change, just be nice to do this myself, not sure what cable is needed would you happen to know if the cable can be purchased from say sling mods or anywhere else?

    • @SpyderWayne
      @SpyderWayne  2 месяца назад +1

      @Motorhomelife_Adventures Ahhhh, that explains it. In Europe and Australia, there is no plug behind the plastic cover, but the kit does come with the extra wiring needed for installation. In my video, I mentioned this, and the entire frunk (front trunk) needs to be removed. Martin the Vlogger youtube channel has a video showing how to install this light on European Spyder RT's. Apparently, the "lighting" rules and regulations for motorcycles in Europe are different than the rules here in North America.

    That light really improves visibility. I'm going to look into those lights you put on the fender's . I like those grills you put in, too 😎. I should have ordered those grills when I bought my Baja Ron ultra Sway bar. The sway bar is awesome. I live in the mountain Foothills and we have a lot of curvy roads.

    • @SpyderWayne
      @SpyderWayne  6 месяцев назад

      All the lights are awesome, and these grills are magnetically attached, easy to remove, and put back in, making it easy to clean out the smaller debris that still gets in. The grills I had on my first Spyder were screwed into place. These grills are more convenient. I got all these lights, and the grills from Slingmods, but I think you can find them through other online Spyder accessory vendors.

    So where did you get the power for your floorboards? Is there other auxiliary plugs?

    • @SpyderWayne
      @SpyderWayne  2 месяца назад

      I started by adding side amber sequential LED lights and red sequential LED lights to my front fenders, (replacing the plastic amber reflectors and the red relective stickers) and the amber and red lights connected to the front lights inside each fender, and then a splitter off those lights is connected to my running board LED lights. I bought all those lights from Slingmods, and their website has good videos on how the fender and running board lights were installed. 😁👍

    Wayne, I wanted to get your opinion on a Spyder issue. The lock mechanism and cables on my side panniers on my 2021 spyder have apparently been getting moisture in them and rusting. This makes them very difficult to open and I year ago while the bike was still under warranty I snapped both of the plastic latches, trying to get the side panniers to open. I got new latches and cables installed, and the technician said he ran them less of a 90° bend to help in the future. I am always gentle with these latches, and I spray the locking mechanism with WD-40 to keep moisture out, but it looks like they're starting to seize again. I can already tell that if I were to pull too tightly on them, the cable will once again snap the plastic latches all over again. My question is, have you experienced anything like this or know any other riders that are having problems with these cables? I know a little while back Sean Smokes posted a video talking about this very issue. I am hoping to take the seat off like you showed in your previous video to get at the cables, and perhaps clean and lubricate them. I just wanted your opinion on this issue. Thank you for your time.

    • @SpyderWayne
      @SpyderWayne  6 месяцев назад

      Here,s the link to Sean Smoaks video from Nov 2021, I had saved this in a playlist I keep for reference purposes.
      ruclips.net/video/1LAOYyLJEtU/видео.htmlsi=VX2rn4Ozfxzcrpoe
      If this doesn't show as a link, you could do a search on TheSmoaksVlogs Sticky Saddlebag Latches, or try snd copy the link text and paste into web address bar.
      I had that problem, on my 1st Spyder, 1 side completely seized, got it fixed under warranty. No issues yet with my new Spyder. I can't remember what lubticant Sean Smoak recommended, I think it was Chain Wax, but I'm sure he did not recommend using WD40. I think the video does a good job in showing how he fixed it, with some little inexpensive gadget to get the lubticant pushed through the cable. I hope this helps.

    • @stanweaver
      @stanweaver 6 месяцев назад +1

      @@SpyderWayne Thank you for the quick reply. It always helps to hear from other people. I was actually going to post the link to his video and forgot. I am glad to hear I was not alone but I think it is happening all over again. Yes, Sean recommended a chain wax type lubricant but I have a feeling I will just have to do my best to get as much of the cable exposed by taking things apart. In the mean time, I took everything out of both panniers in case they decide to never open again. Thank you for the quick reply. It always helps to hear from other people.

      @MrBarman650 The extra wiring I have is a splitter, and I'd give you mine if I didn't need it, but I plan on using it to add power for another modification. Where did you get your light bar without the wiring needed ? The wiring I got, came in the box from Slingmods.
