A handsome ship , the craftsmanship of the dining halls, day rooms, and the furnishings leaves me in awe. Are the plates welded ; I tried looking closely, but I don’t see rivets.
I noticed the same smooth appearance of the hull plates, which piqued my curiosity and I did some more research. Nothing was welded in those days. Many parts of the hull plating below the waterline were "flush-riveted", basically the rivets were countersunk as best as they could be to minimize drag-causing marine growth ("fouling") on the hull and make it easier to scrape it off. The rivets are only visible in extreme close-ups and very high resolution photos, but they are sometimes visible even on the parts that appear smooth.
She had very elegant lines.
This ships where so elegant in the Interieur, sad this time is gone. It`s old but fashionable.
