@@cookforher me too. Seems every rabbit stew recipe out there calls for wine. Just something super simple is all I want and you delivered. Thank you very much!
Oh my God!!! This is the most tasty dish I have ever cooked. My husband and I ate the whole pot in 1 day!!! I also add white wine and salt/pepper. Thank you for this delicious recipe!
No they don't, it will change the flavour profile of the stew completely. It would bring in more of a "metallic taste" to the broth that most don't want. Either feed them to you dog, discard them or if you are a zombie eat them raw.
Thought I'd report back! My husband loved the stew! Will make it regularly from now on, I think. Also, I used my Instant Pot pressure cooker. The simmering time was 45 mins, and the rabbit was falling off the bone beautifully. Thanks so much for sharing your recipe! :-)
My rabbit legs are defrosting. I just happen to have all the other ingredients too! Will have this ready for when my husband comes back from work. I am sure he will love it.
Hey a last a Man with good taste!! You have shown just how easy it is to cook, as long as you have a little bit of fantasy. One thing you could try is using cold broth or water for the flour. It doesn’t clump and is creamy faster. Thanx for the recipe.
Thank You! This was an awesome tutorial! I catch rabbits during hunting season but I have always just roasted them on the fire and they are not anywhere near as yummy as your recipe. This was great.
Chris Stuckman sent us your way. Great video! Very relaxing with the background music and a good tempo too! Easy to follow. Thank you ! :) Fans from Belgium
I've been enjoying my Bunny 🐰 stew for 3 days now. Savoring every bite!! And it tastes exactly like rabbit!! Moose tastes exactly like Moose, but I can actually smell my Aunt cooking it from 100 feet from her kitchen 😋. Greatest tasting meat on the planet!
So simple and oh so good, I made the stew with my homemade chicken bone stock instead, I plan to try it this week with beef stock to see if it enriches the dish a little more, we raise our rabbits so I'm sure the flavor profile will be different then wild caught.
I didn't see any seasoning apart from thyme. no salt while cooking or even seasoning the flour or the stew? or are you using a seasoned broth? Just wondering since there is a lot of vegetables and meat and just a touch of salt at the end. Appreciate any feedback on the seasoning component.
Great video. I would only say brown the meat a tiny bit longer. I usually don’t take the meat out and remove the bones, but will from now on, starting tonight! Thank you 🙏
no I personally wouldn't do that. The meats are very different and the duck could overwhelm the broth in fat. But if you try it and it turns turns out amazing let me know.
I'm eaten rabbit a couple of times but never in the form of a stew as shown here but that sure looks good and I would certainly love to have me some of that. However, if I prepared that I would maybe thicken it up a little more with say flour and water/milk.
I used this stew as a guideline (- celery + chicken broth + mix of spices) for my first try at cooking rabbit, to see if myself and my boyfriend like the taste. And it was sooo tasty! Thank you! I actually enjoyed this more than I enjoy chicken, which was my previous favourite meat.
There are few things in life that live up to expectations of any kind. But, believe me, this recipe is undoubtedly and without reservation, one of them.
Looks great. I'm using my squirrel stock which should go very well with the rabbit meat. I was going to simmer just the trinity of foundational veg and rabbit for an hour before adding other vegetables. Did the vegetables still maintain all of their flavor after 2 hours of cooking?
Update: it was a hit! Even with all the picky eaters in the house all the bowls were clean! They made the comment that it was so much better than my rabbit stew last year lol. Thanks for sharing the amazing recipe!
I wouldn't do a rabbit stew like a beef pot roast. Do a roux of the offal. They leave it in specifically for rabbit stew, you should be using it. Consider barley instead of potatoes. Mirepoix is inescapable, but consider sage instead of thyme to distinguish this from a braised beef stew.
If you take out the rabbit gently after it’s cooked, I promise you won’t have that problem. It takes time to pull the meat from the bone ( on the side) but it’s worth it.
i just kilt my neighbors rabbit from next door that kept eating and digging up my turnup green patch. this is what will be done with the rodent THANK YOU!
The only thing that should of been differently was deboning the rabbit before actually browning it. I know it's a huge pain to do but deboning it first allows you to keep those juices locked in better because you aren't going to need to shred the rabbit later after cooking.
Finally a rabbit stew that's actually simple and doesn't call for wine. Thank you very much.
Glad it was helpful!

Very good added a bit of red wine 2 min before adding the rabbit and potato and it's delicious
i just crafted rabbit stew on a crafting table
Exactly what I was thinking hahhaa

Wonderful!
I'm preparing this tonight for friends of mine thank you for the recipe
My friends loved this
For everyone watching this. Don't discard the kidneys, heart or liver. They go beautifully in your stew.
heart is especially tasty, but I like to grill them and then add pepper, salt and lemon before eating
Fuck yes. Offal is great.
Don't discard anything. It can all be eaten.

I just caught the rabbit that ate all my jalapeno plants.I wonder if he'll be spicy?
well Mark, was he good?
Yes he was I thought he would be more spicy because he ate all my jalapeno plants but he was pretty good anyway
@@markstreight1809 Maybe spicy if you would have cooked "rabbit tripe".
Atsa spicy little fella...No pepper in that stew!
Ha lol sh*t
Making it this week. Snow moving in and need a warm dish for the wife.
Taste sooo good thank you for this Recipe
Fantastic video, thank you!!

Did u kill ur own rabbit?
Looks elicious
So good🤤
Thank you!
I’ve just started hunting rabbits with a longbow and am wanting something good to make. This looks freaking delicious. Will definitely try it.
“PO TAE TOES, boil um, mash um, put um in a stew!”
What's TATERS precious?!
And when you're all done with them, they come out you as poo 💩 💩
Work of art. What an honor you bestow on those who eat the food you prepare.
Excellent just what I need a Get 'Er Done! Video...
Looks so delicious
Thank you 😋 and it is!
Great recipé. Here's a word of advice folks, browning the rabbit ain't necessary. Add a little rosemary to the stew for a great flavor sensation.
Alan Morris Browning isn’t necessary, yes. But it adds flavor.
It absolutely is necessary for a flavorful stew!
Delicious the meat is very tender. Great recipe👍

The broth is seasoned, if you add more salt it can ruing the stew.
I love this my mum used to make it when I was a kid
awesome!
i'll def try this dish, looks delicious! Though i'd rather call it a soup and not a stew!
Nice

Finally someone who knows how to freaking cook
Making for Christmas

Nice work Only way to cook rabbit is bone on and slow it goes well with a little bacon … nailed it 👌 suscribed
I salivated for the last 10 minutes.....
Cooking this now!
Thanks...I have my thawed out duck and I will cook it tomorrow. Bon appetit. I just have to buy celery band fresh tyme.
Have fun!
searched this after watching a sleeping rabbit sorrounded by dominos
Best stew.
thank you
Just like mother used to make in the 1950 s
Cant wait to go rabbit hunting
Do you know if rabbit and duck would pair well in a stew?
no I personally wouldn't do that. The meats are very different and the duck could overwhelm the broth in fat. But if you try it and it turns turns out amazing let me know.
@@cookforher oh, if I do give it a try I will let ya know. Might just try your rabbit stew recipe, looks delicious.

A great alternative to using flour as a thickener is potato flakes. Any stew with potatoes the flakes work great
Wonder if crushed juniper berries would go well in this
My bunny actin up so she can get snatched up real quick
Ha!
U kill it? I’m thinking about killing my rabbit in my backyard cuz it’s been eating my lettuce.
Way to honor the rabbit in this beautiful dish.... the world was built fed by stew lol
Yes it was
What was the point of the ladle with more flour I’m curious to know pls
Thickens the Broth beautifully. If you like it to be more "watery" then skip the flour.
Thank you so much haha I made this a few days ago exactly how you made it and it was amazing
@@oscarchavarria3243 That's great to hear!
I tried this and the only issue I had with it was there wasn’t enough meat. Delicious stew. I’ll probably cut other ingredients by half next time
Corn starch is a better thickener
Yep, that's my go-to thickener for just about everything. Has no taste and is great for thickening shortcut easy gravies.
I use 1/2 cornstarch and 1/2 flour.
Can the bunch of fresh thyme be replaced with regular powdered thyme? At the end when you prepare more thyme, is this to garnish the plate only?
No, dry herbs and fresh herbs taste different and might ruin the dish.
And you can garnish at the end with fresh Parsley if you don't have Thyme
I used this stew as a guideline (- celery + chicken broth + mix of spices) for my first try at cooking rabbit, to see if myself and my boyfriend like the taste. And it was sooo tasty!

Won’t your veggies be mushy cooking them 2hr?

Looks great. I'm using my squirrel stock which should go very well with the rabbit meat. I was going to simmer just the trinity of foundational veg and rabbit for an hour before adding other vegetables. Did the vegetables still maintain all of their flavor after 2 hours of cooking?
Yes the carrots do, the rest take on more of the flavour of the stock. Squirrel stock? Please let me how it goes...
Nigga did you just say “squirrel” stock?
So good
Natakam ako
Only one thing "ingredients" ? all those leaves
etc. Thanks? Good video...
Hello. Do u think my pellet gun could get me a rabbit? My local one has been eating my veggies.
looks soooo good from the land down under
Thank you
Add some summer savory to that thyme . It goes scrumptiously well with rabbeet.
Just made amazing I raise my own rabbits
Gosh ! I'm starving !
me too!
I would retain the heart, liver & kidneys for the stock (always check liver for white spots, discard if any are present!)
Could I sub beef broth for vegetable!?
Yes, store bought broth can be leaded with salt, careful not to over salt the stew.
@@cookforher alrighty. Much appreciated. And I won’t. Have a history of hypertension in the family. Won’t use any. Lol.
can I use chicken stock instead?
Yes absolutely
You bet! My family prefers the delicate chicken stock, home made of course, to the heavy beef flavor!
Got the rabbit on now for two hours I’ll report back! The mother in law is in town so we will see what they think. It already smells delicious!

If you take out the rabbit gently after it’s cooked, I promise you won’t have that problem. It takes time to pull the meat from the bone ( on the side) but it’s worth it.
Beef broth? I will try that.. I normally use chicken broth

Nope, bone equals flavour. Deboning a rabbit is very difficult and these recipe are meant to be simple enough that anyone feels they can try.
