I so wish my parents had let me declutter before my Mother passed away. It is so much more difficult to get rid of stuff with memories of a deceased loved one.

I have the bedroom set that my great grandparents received on their wedding day. My grandpa and all of his brothers and sisters were born in that bed. I sleep in it every night!

really like everything you did, if you wanted the wall to have more weight, you could buy 2 more of those prints and lie them up behind the bed, in a line. that would be a show stopper and I might take the lace from under the lamps and add cork or pads.

Great job! The bedroom looks so fresh and welcoming. I especially love the desk and its chair, they are gorgeous! The mirror on the closet doors are perfect, making the room spacious and light so I hope you'll keep them. The new light pink window cushion covers were a stroke of genius :) My Mum used to love when we rearranged or redecorated rooms together. Her home was always beautiful and warm, amazing and in perfect order (many decades before the Mari Condo trend). I miss her so much... She was a child during WWII in France, and taught us by example how to appreciate, take care of what we have, and enjoy it.

I love the room. Yes. I have found that decluttering makes me want a calmer room. One thing that I’ve noticed is that I don’t like a lot of color. My plant pots, lamps any decor that I have, I like for it to be white.

Simplify a bit more by putting felt pads under the lamps and knickknacks so you don't need the doilies. I would also get rid of the vanity. It's in a very awkward place.
Beautifully done. My only recommendation to make it more minimal and updated would be to change out the ‘80s mirrored closet doors for plain doors or open shelves/closet. Awesome work ladies!

I have been helping my mom declutter sporadically. It takes a lot of time. I applaud you. I know I need to do more decluttering with my parents cuz they're painting rooms right now. It's a good time since everything is getting moved around

The room looks amazing and cozy. When my dad moved 5 years ago, I decluttered the house and he kept absolutely everything such as receipts from the 70's and 80's. I'm not exaggerating when I say we had over 10 huge black recycling bags of shredded papers! And I'm not going to talk about the garage LOL! My dad is a sweetheart but he's definitively not a minimalist (to each their own) 🤭! Take care and cheers fro Canada🌟🍂🍁🍂🌟

Thank you, she told me she just dusts with a dry microfiber cloth. About twice a year she will use a wood furniture oil.

To me, minimalism is not going out and buying new stuff, it is pair with frugality as well. I think the bedroom is lovely, with beautiful furnishings and beautiful lamps. The only thing I would do is paint the walls and update the pictures. Just me.

What did you do with the jewelry she did not want? I would love to reduce but it is so overwhelming because sending jewelry to goodwill somehow seems like a mistake. Also I have painted several rooms “polar bear” and I just love that white! It’s not too pink/blue/dinge etc. but is the perfect white in my opinion.
My mom just donated most of it to a secondhand store. If I remember right I think she offered the fun costume jewelry to my cousins little girls to play with and the rest was donated. Literally no one wanted it so it had to go somewhere. I hope you have a good day.
@@shannontorrens1 good idea thank you! I thought about scrapping/selling the gold and silver but they all have fake stones in them. Ugh what should be beautiful has become a burden.
The room looks lovely! I’ve decluttered a lot and let go of some big furniture pieces. Recently we had our floors refinished and walls repainted. I used to have a lot of stenciling, which was really pretty for a long time, but I don’t miss it. My house feels peaceful now and it looks like I had a plan instead of hodgepodge! Thanks for your inspiration!
