What stood out for me was when Tieko mentioned having hobbies, passion projects and a career and how to prioritize all 3. Also when she mentioned that we can do away with past mindsets when she said "Youre not 22 anymore." I loved that cause I do get caught up in past mindsets and I have to accept that I am growing. Going from glory to glory.
Im so happy Yvette has someone like Tieko to do life with. God is so intentional.

I would love to have a black, female mentor who I can relate to and grow with in the season that I'm in. My husband and I have 5 children - our youngest is 3 and autistic. It's been challenging to find a group of black moms/dad's that we can grow with and share struggles, wisdom, support, etc. I do feel like The Most High is molding my husband and I to be the person/mentor couple that we're looking for, for other people years down the road.
The most High has given you the assignment, be obedient. You have made the first step and have spoken it. Now, execute. Y'all got this 👍🏾

WE MUST HAVE A PART 2!!!!! Mrs. T is SPEAKING!!! As an entrepreneur, married, military wife of 5 years I sent this to my spouse! She said every single thing that I've wanted to say to my Husband! I'm ambitious! What does our plans look like now that we are 5 years in? I've evolved and changed, I want more than love, I want my legacy to be enriched and for us to set the foundation for our future children to thrive. Are you ready to discuss what that looks like? So, as a newlywed and someone who is learning to embrace the transitions and findings of my own journey with my wife, this was so good. I love the moments of passion that exist in how things can be processed. I come from a different world that doesn't allow the flexibility and even when I have moments where I do understand that everyone won't find their why, i pray that people do. This was great. I do think that as a man from a very conservative background, this is very eye opening because thinking like this or processing like this is not something normal for me, but i look forward to the challenge i set for myself to dive into at least 1 of the spaces that was communicated on this episode. I wonder what an episode with her and Glenn would be like.
Please bring on part 2! Her wisdom is soooooo deep! I would like to hear her perspective on marriages that do not do the prep work…please give a part two!
It was the, "who am I to hold up the line" for me. This quote reminds me of the parable of the talents, because our gifts are not ours and we do not want the master to come looking for a return on his investment and we are empty handed. I'm taking from this: don't hold up the line, do the assignment and get out of the way. Thank you Yvette for bringing Tieko on. Thank you Glenn for recognizing the positive friendship amongst them. Thank you Tieko for your words of wisdom.

I loved this conversation. I agree with so many points Tieko made. I am trained to be a Marriage and Family Therapist and I notice that people just get married with no direction or intention. They have all these high hopes and huge plans but no actual purpose. As soon as things don't look the way they envision they want to leave. Will You Marry Me To Do What? is a great question.
Definitely had to spin the block on this episode so I'm back 🙃. The Sacrifice vs Settling conversation is so necessary. Also the career vs the calling! I would love to see where the conversation goes if Tieko and Yvette could just talk uninterrupted or without time constraint. I am excited for the transition, but I am also nervous because I am entering a new season of my life that I will have to learn how to be comfortable with (if that makes sense), but listening to two women who have walked many seasons already gives me the confidence that I will do alright.

This is one of the best episodes I have seen. Asking myself and my husband why did we get married and what is our goal was one of the many dimes dropped by Tieko that is sitting with me. Thank you for having Tieko on. I’d love to see her back on in the future. Thank y’all for allowing God use you to pour out so much wisdom. Keep doing what He leads you to do.
I think people are unsatisfied with their marriages and lives because everyone in social media and even on these podcasts always seem to be introspective and climbing in careers. Makes folks feel like they should do more and want more with life in general. Yvette said that she was unaware of folks having ambition growing up. We grew up with parents and grandparents picking a job and staying there until retirement and just raising kids. If folks do that now it seems like lack of ambition to the outside world. Enjoyed u ladies

Man this a word. Boy, this made me realizing my sacrificing for my family because I know the greater prize and settling on what I could do as an individual and that is in line with me OR my husband's purpose for our family. It's something neither of us agreed upon but rather a cultural narrative I believe I'm letting hold me back. Good word yal!
