Dogs move very fast. Trying to kick one can throw you off balance, possibly resulting in a fall and injury to yourself, as well as making yourself vulnerable if the dog turns aggression toward you. It's an instinctive thing to do if you are not young and agile.

a lawsuit may occur and you may have to hire an attorney and pay the bill ... so follow the law and leave a fight alone!... look at the length of the comments he posts... Does that make common sense to you?

Don't you think he's advising people how to break up fights between a strange off leash dog and thier own dogs? As in, an off leash dog charges mine and attacks it? In that case his advice is still pretty sound; situational awareness, avoidance, body blocking, commanding the strange dog to leave, and eventually defending your dog from an attack seem reasonable to me. Sure, anyone could sue you for kicking thier dog, but I think they'd lose thier suit if YOU are defending yourself.
