I was just in Malaga last week. Compared to most cities in the US, it is a paradise. The landscape is beautiful, the "castle" referred to in Malaga is the Alcazaba, a fortress originally built by the Romans, then the Moors, then the Christians. Now, it is a living archeological site. Valencia is a different type of place, flatter and more landscaped. I didn't see "dog crap" everywhere. It's all better than Chicago, Houston, St. Louis, etc. There are no (or very few) homeless, parks are cleaner, people are friendly, food is less expensive, landscaping is much better, weather is great, etc. I'd move to either, but I'm going to Granada. Cordoba is great, too.

I love Valencia as well, the warm beautiful sea, sand beaches, and yes full of green areas, it is a beautiful city, only downside are the dog 💩 and sometimes the smell of sewage. And I really really love the locals from Malaga, their happiness is contagious. I’ve lived in both. I have nice memories from my teenager-hood and early adulthood from both places. My heart is divided between both! I now live in London, the parks here are what I like the most but I really miss Spain. One day… I’ll be back..

We didn't make it to Malaga, but we spent a lot of time in Valencia. We loved the river area between the Science Building and to the Ocean near the Zoo where they have a long park that's
very well done. I remember walking all the way to the Zoo, but the zoo seemed so small and expensive, so I told the family we'll just visit the zoo when we return to Phoenix that has an excellent zoo that's reasonable. We walked EVERYWHERE in Valencia and enjoyed it a lot - a good friend that used to work for me lives there and we stayed with him and he traveled with us, too, along with two of our daughters. Oh, my wife Antonia is from Brasil, so she really enjoyed travel in Spain and in Portugal.

I am glad that they met, I am a follower of both, but I am more glad that he did not name my city and many others. I like that people go sightseeing and get to know Spain, but European countries are very small and quickly become overcrowded. Tourists don't notice it, but finding a town or a bar like the ones before is starting to be difficult in some areas of Spain. But I like you because you seem to understand it and are reasonable, less merit in the case of Elliot, who is Spanish but thinks he is American.😄

The video was enjoyable, but it could have included more essential information about Malaga. Malaga has a rich cultural heritage, being a city almost 3000 years old, with high-quality museums and a wide range of cultural activities throughout the year, including opera, theater, classical music, and jazz. The city also offers historic sites and picturesque mountain surroundings. Malaga's hilly terrain, similar to San Francisco, extends to the very edge of the Mediterranean Sea. Its connectivity through Malaga airport makes it an ideal place to live and enjoy an authentic Spanish and international experience. The city also has expansive clean parks, particularly on the west side near the sea, that were not highlighted in the video. Additionally, Malaga airport, just 8km from the city center, is the third largest airport in Spain and is rapidly expanding. It offers direct flights to destinations like New York and Doha, providing better connectivity than Valencia. In my opinion, Malaga has more charm, authenticity, culture, and a better way of life than Valencia.

    • @AvFenix55
      @AvFenix55 5 месяцев назад +3

To make statements as forceful as the ones you have made you should know both cities in depth. And I deduce that you do not know Valencia at all. For example you talk about Malaga having large clean parks, with high quality museums and a wide range of cultural activities throughout the year, including opera, theater, classical music and jazz, as if Valencia lacked these features. You talk about the advantage of having the airport 8 km away when Valencia airport is at a similar distance and is also connected by metro line. That “Spanish” charm that Malaga has is certainly not Valencia's because outside Spain there is a tendency to confuse the Andalusian: its architecture, music and folklore (flamenco) as if that were the identity of Spain, which is totally wrong. Valencia is not an Andalusian city and therefore does not have that Andalusian charm that is confused with Spanish charm. It has a different kind of charm, which is not the same as lacking charm.

I think, if you want super clean, then Switzerland or Austria may offer this. Some parts of Spain are quite clean in the city centre but on the outskirts it can be less so. I have been to the south of the Valencia Communidad near to the Mar Menor. Overall, it is kept fairly well in the towns and shopping centres.
However, when you walk or cycle in the area and go through the countryside, I couldn't help but notice the rubbish that had been dumped. It was either bottles or cans thrown into the flood viaduct at the edge of the road, or industrial waste left in the bushes, e.g. Large blocks of concrete, broken plant pots, old sofa's, washing machine's and rubble. Also, the trails were not maintained or kept well, plus there is graffiti, in the strangest of places. I accept that this is probably a less well known or visited part of Spain and other parts of the country are cleaner and better managed.
As a generalisation, Nordic countries, seem better kept and managed than Southern European countries, however, they don't have the abundance of sunshine and the same kind of outside living energy. Swings and roundabouts, you can't have it all!

The problem with both of these cities, especially Malaga with the cruise ships, is that the restaurants and shops are specifically set up to take advantage of tourists-this means low quality and high prices and rushed service. Locals have time to learn about the mom and pop shops several blocks outside the tourist areas where the local people know the best recipes from the old days and prepare much better food at a much lower price.

    Malaga pros:
    - Nice clean beaches
    - Culturally impressive, lots of art and museums
    - Affordable to live
    Malaga cons:
    - Noisy religious ceremonies
    Valencia pros:
    - Two nice parks
    Valencia cons:
    - Dirty smelly beaches and waters. I got rashes from swimming in Malvarossa
    - Very expensive to live and rent there and for no reason as the flats are of bad quality and have cockroaches
    - Dirty streets, pavements full of dog poop

Malvarosa in Valencia has unnessarily huge width. Looks empty, with very limited facilities, very primitive "restaurants" that I would rather call cafes. Send is fine, pretty clean of rubbish, no broken shells, but very dusty. I have never seen this anywhere else. You can see it in a water too, where the waves break. Water looks dirty and not transparent at those places, where waves brake. There is a prominade, but its arranged in a very stupid way: sea is very far, and nothing on the city side, but horrible gypsy area and a lot of few centuries old ugly 2-3 floors houses, falling apart. Dangerous area too. Another thing: downtown is very far from the beach. So, either, or, not both together. Instead, the proper and cozy arrangement should be kind of Alicante, Malaga, Benidorm style - not extremely wide beach, promenade along the beach, so you can enjoy the water proximity, and downtown with real restaurants right on the other side of the promenade. Valencia fails on all if this. Really uncomfortable arrangement. I was dissapointed.
Green? Valencia is very dry, Turia park looks dry too. All parks have a dusty roads instead of tiles, so your shoes are always dusty.
If you want to see really green places, visit the north of Spain! Costa Blanca and Costa de Sol are dry, mountains are bold.

That's funny; I've been to Malaga a couple of times and never encountered dog poop or pee on the pavements or anywhere. I couldn't see a single cigarette butt in the streets, and I wasn't staying only in the center. Valencia, on the other hand-I have been living here for almost two years-is disgusting in regards to the stench of pee and poop at every corner. There are plenty of smokers who just throw away their cigarettes everywhere, without even putting them out. It's utterly disgusting.
And yes, I'm seriously considering moving to Malaga.

As a citizen of Málaga, I'm not going to get into debates about whether Valencia or Málaga is the better city; I guess it depends on what you're looking for... That said, in Málaga, prices are through the roof, and there's no room for anyone else. I have a feeling it's the same story in Valencia. So instead of moving to Málaga or Valencia, it's better to choose smaller cities or towns around those cities, which are already super congested.
And I'm saying this for those who come with money... if you're coming as an immigrant worker, it's better not to come (at least to Málaga), because unemployment is still quite high and salaries at most are enough to rent a room, unless you're in a couple and have two incomes.

U can’t compare Valencia to Malaga, the question is Alicante or Málaga? Alicante has bigger airport, more tourism, more expats, more foreign people, is more international and cosmopolitan than Valencia. Alicante and Malaga are 100% open to sea cities. Is not the case of Valencia. Valencia has to be compared with Bilbao or Sevilla. All Russian, Britain, Swiss, Norwegian, European people when they get retired they go to Alicante or Malaga.

Unfortunately, this is what Valencian regional bureaucracy looks like. Too many chiefs; not enough Indians to lead properly. This is a tragedy of epic proportion that will have an economic impact on Valencia for years to come. It will take incredible urban planning measures for this not to happen again. The immediate impact on jobs, lives and property’s is unimaginable. Paiporta is a hardworking blue collar community, this is an unimaginable loss that was preventable. Animo Valencia, we hear your pain!
