You can lock and unlock the door by the button under the intake boomerang which many don’t know. Long as you have the fob, just hit the button as if you’re going to open the door and it’ll lock if you’re exiting and leaving, just like coming to the car and getting back in. The rear hatch extension is called ‘Service Mode’. I have the Paragon struts that auto open into service mode. Also radar detectors can be plugged into the rear view mirror with a phone Jack for power.
Great to the point video! Question, when you are in the car and your wife is in the car with the other key fob, how does the car know which driver settings to use? Does it know which fob is closer to the steering wheel?
My dark one was set to #2 driver. I just kept the light one for #1 (myself) and the dark one was set up at the factory as #2, so that will be the spare or wifey for me. I just want to keep it simple and not waste Mt time reprogramming the dark one to be #1.
I recommend testing the C8 key. My battery went dead one week after delivery. When I tried to use the key, it turned but did not open. I had to have a tow service access the emergency floor latch with a very long rod and using an inflatable tool at the window. Stressed to da max.
@paulworkman5755 No. The door is electronicly controlled and if battery is dead doors won't open. There have been cases of owners locked in and passed away but there is a manual release for the doors on the floor incase of loss of power.
Is there a way to link the power folding mirrors to the lock button on fob? Seems like an obvious option…auto fold mirrors for locking and then fold out when unlocking
@SK-pn1pe Yes. My side mirrors fold when I lock using the fob. I think ota on the 2nd press of the fob....I think it's something you can set up in the vehicle settings
Hard wire your radar from mirror, down the A pillar, under the dash, behind the center console and hard wire it to the 12 volt plug in. DO NOT plug in mirror for power! Will throw codes. And it looks better. Words of wisdom from a GM ASE Certified Master Technician over 40+ years.
I’ve been lucky so far, so far only four months using the mirror as my power source 🤞 but the C8’ are so finicky anything could happen at any time for any reason or no reason at all, you might want to add that as a modifier to your statement of best way to do it
Please differentiate your secret tips, because coup’s and HTC’s are not exactly the same, example the trunk lid works the way you showed only on coup’s not HTC’s
You can buy an aftermarket keyboard that is identical to the factory and any dealer or some locksmiths can program the new key fob. I paid $200 for a spare fob for my TRX as it came with only one when I bought it. I found someone on Facebook and he programmed the new key fob, $200 for fob including programming.

Thank you. The fobs are set in priority order, so Driver #1 settings will override the fob for Driver #2

Clarification of getting into service mode. You must have foot off the brake when pressing the start button. Otherwise the car will start.
Or hard wire the radar detector?
My rear trunk won’t open, like it’s stuck. What manual way can I get it opened? Or does it have an electrical lock I have to disable before it opens?
The key lock is behind the license plate. Are you using the fob, the button in the bumper and the driver door and all 3 don't unlock the trunk?
