Annika yes but you have to consider the fact that you can’t make choices in your life to control your future emotions! Jay-Jay Mugisha Love isn’t a feeling, it’s a choice and when you choose a partner for life to marry, you make it work. There will always be ups and downs in life but the beauty of marriage is going and working through those together.
I absolutely love that you bring up how it's ok to tell your parents that you don't want them talking bad about the other parent and how you don't want to be in the middle of their fights. When I was in my late teens and my parents were still together but fighting a lot, I got dragged into so much of their drama and was their middle man to pass messages back and forth because they wouldn't talk to each other. This took a huge toll on my mental health and at that time, I wish I would have known it was ok for me to get out of that situation, but I thought I was supporting my parents by doing it. I hope other people learn from your video because it holds so much truth.
my sister is 20 years old. she had my nephew when she was 17 with her boyfriend at the time. they got married about a year after that. they just had their second son last month (february 2019). they’re living on their own in a different state. he’s in the military. if you trust your gut to marry someone because you love them with all your heart, go ahead and do it. it has nothing to with being married young, only how much you love the person you’re marrying.
Divorce rate in my country is almost 50% so it is not like a big thing here. When my mom and dad were divorcing I was actually happy. My dad is a very specific person who needs to live alone because otherwise he irritates everyone in the house and we irritate him so It wasnt actually sad for me. Divorce got me pretty bad when my parents divorced when I was just I think 2 or 3 years old and it was so struggling for me and my older brother because it was a custody battle, luckily it was my mom but it still was hard for a single parent to take care of 2 kids herself. Over the time that I grew up, I was just so mad at my dad for a long time because of what he does and why my parents split in the first place. My older brother and I most of the time didn't want anything to do with him at all. My mom doesn't blame us because he was a deadbeat dad. Now that me and my brother are grown, he all of a sudden wants to be a part of our lives but we said no, especially the relationships my mom had, let's just say I don't want a stepfather, period. I'm very blessed to have my mom and brother in my life, I love them to death. Ah, this hits home so badly to me. My parents got divorced when I was 4 years old, and my mother started talking badly about my dad right away, witch was not good for me since I have always been a daddys girl. She found a new man, and my dad another woman, and it turned out that they were exes, so it got quite complicated.. My mother and stepfather talked bad about my dad and my stepmom, and I didn't know any better so I started hating my stepmom because of that.. When I became 19-20 ish years old, they still talked badly about my dad and stepmom, but I straight away talked to my dad about it, and he told me the truth witch he always has done, and I understood that they were just lying to me the whole time, so I talked to my stepmom about it, and now we have a super great bond with eachother, and I barely speak to my mom and stepdad because they still talk badly about them, witch I don't like at all. But oh well, wish I had known better as a kid so that my relationship with my stepmom would be much better from the start. It's all ok now tho :) Great video Rosa! Keep up the good work! :)
I’m sorry that happened to you! Just know that you’re doing great and you don’t have to feel guilty for doing what feels the best for you. I’m happy you’re good now’
Phew! This is a weird topic for me because I no longer lived at home when my parents divorced. It was a shock when they separated because they never fought and were really the ideal couple. I'm not sure I ever dealt with their divorce properly, but I also haven't felt like I needed to. I see them as humans and they deserve to seek happiness just as much as I do. The hardest part was definitely all the bad-talking they did, which wasn't that much, but they were always both trying to put blame on the other and had contradicting stories, so it was hard to tell what the real story was. My mom will still make snide comments if I ever make some sort of positive gesture about my dad and I do need to have a conversation with her about how she speaks about him. Thank you for talking about this. There is SUCH a stigma tied to it, but it shouldn't feel like a death sentence when your parents get divorced.
Thanks for sharing love❤️ it really doesn’t matter how far in your own life you are, divorcing parents can still affect you just the same, it’s like losing a piece of home that was safe! I still struggle with comments here and there even though my parents have handled things really well, and it’s weird to feel guilty for talking nicely about your other parent! Talking really helps though, so I hope it’ll make things better ❤️
I’m so late on this divorce with you guys, but my heart is very shocked. Especially seeing Sam these days. :( Life has been a world wind for many I guess hey! Keep staying strong guys! In all aspects of your lives! Rosa I agree with every word you have spoke you beautiful soul you! Xxx
I know divorce is pretty normal now but I do sometimes feel alone when it comes to having divorced parents. I needed to hear that it wasn’t me fault. And I thought I was being selfish when telling my mom not to talk bad about my dad but wow I feel so understood right now. Thank you love 💕
Divorce is a big thing in my family. My parents go divorced in 2009 and my siblings and i always thought that if we were better children they would have stayed together. They use to fight all the time and still do. But once we all grow up we now know that it wasn't our fault. Now that i'm older i know that my parents getting divorced was the best thing and now i have an amazing step dad.
my parents have been divorced for a year. i was very unsocial and wouldnt speak to anyone at my school. then i found out why and i officially only wanted to live with my mom. my dad cheated on my mom for TWO YEARS! i hates him and i still do. when i go to his house it’s actually torture having to sit there and act like i forgave him.
Getting married young has NOTHING to do with them divorcing. I got married at 22, my husband was 21. Our relationship is almost 6 years in total now. I don't want to speak on Rosa and Sams marital breakdown but it's more so cause the relationship was young, not them. I live in Iran atm and it's shocking to me how common it is to bring up divorce when things aren't going right. people rush into marriage here cause of the restrictions around just dating (altho that's starting to change with the next gen) BUT I see so many 30+ age people in fresher relationships than mine, threatening divorce. I could never 😐😐😑😬
My parents got divorced in 2011,and to this day they still don't get along and as a fourteen Year old girl this makes me pretty upset because I just want them to stand each other. And sometimes it feels like crap, and they say things like 'this is what you mother/father told you isn't it?', they think that just bc I'm spending more time with the other person I begin to think like them. Thanks for the video💕
That’s very difficult I’m sorry to hear that.. just try to tell them you don’t want to talk about the other parent and see what happens! Usually your parents want the best for you and if they realize it’s making you unhappy they’ll try :)
thankyou so so so much. I know this video is old, but I sum how feel that god himself sent me this vid, cause I am currently going through my parents getting divorced. your words meant a lot ❤️.
My parents are still together for us kids and I rather them go their separate way than for them to be together for us kids, were almost out of the house in about a year or so and if I sit down to tell them that it’s okay if they move on it will just all go sour, that’s the story of my life!! They don’t even sleep in the same bedroom anymore
That’s not what happens when you get married too young, I’m married rn and we’re diggin it & winging it. everyone’s different , my dad and mom has been married since they were seventeen & been together until he died this 2018.
i’m 14 and my parents got divorced two years ago and my mom always drags me into things but i let her because i’m the last kid at home my three siblings are all in college and they always talk about each other and ive tried to help them out but they don’t listen to me because they say i’m too young to understand but i completely understand it hurts me more that they say i’m too young to understand
Hey Rosa I always enjoy taking time to watch your channel and your channel with Sam, I actually went through a divorce myself and that's how I found you guys was just spending time on RUclips,I just wanted to tell you thank you for your always positive vibes and approach as a feminist in a positive way, as I like to think I do myself! Much love from Florida (p.s would love to hear more about the trails of your first year of marriage as I think it is much a really thing ! )
That’s why people shouldn’t rush into marriage. I don’t think people should get married so soon (especially like a month or two after dating😬) marriage is a life long commitment and you shouldn’t just rush into it because yes that would obviously end in a divorce.
You are amazing for making a video like this. I went through this about 4 years ago as a sophomore in high school. I could have used this then. Keep doing what ur doing, I know this is going to help so many people.... at least I hope it does.
My parents are getting a divorce.. it’s a bit weird still like moving house and stuff. I can talk about with my parents or my boyfriend, but it still feels weird talking about it. Like i don’t want to brag about it or bothering them with my problems. I knew they didn’t love each other anymore and they had a few fights sometimes. I do feel a bit lost because i don’t know a lot of people who’s parents got divorced so this video helped me a little bit!
I’m glad it helped! Even though it’s difficult i highly recommend you try to talk to your parents when you’re ready though cause it helps staying close to them! I’m sorry you have to deal with this, but it’ll get better ❤️
My parents got a divorce when I was about 9-10 years old and my dad had custody of me on the weekends. It hurt me how much he spoke negatively of my mom... I don't know why he told me those awful things when I was at an age too young to understand. I eventually told my mom and my dad found out about it and yeah I cried lol... he seemed angry at me for snitching i guess :(
Yesterday I experienced a fist fight between my parents. I already erased it out of my head because I don't want to think about it anymore. I DO feel like im in the middle of it. I DO feel like I have to choose. We all still live in the same house so they are not, yet, divorced. Sometimes I want them to but other times I don't because I suffer from really bad seperation anxiety. I just really don't know what to do or how to feel. :(
My parents have been divorced for almost 18 years. And not always does stuff get better. They both still talk shit about each other and they hate each other so
i think divorce is a beautiful thing it’s true love either for your self or for the partner that you’re divorcing in a weird way like i love myself enough to do this difficult thing cause it will make me happy or i love you enough to let you go because it will make us happier you know idk that’s my take
I see both sides. Divorce should not be looked at as the end all be all. But marriage should be. It’s a serious decision. Just like you shouldn’t move in so fast with someone, you shouldn’t get married so fast to someone. Falling in love makes you feel like you can take on anything but it’s an illusion. Being in love with someone is getting over their faults and learning how to work with them. Marriage is a partnership. And it will fail if there’s no trust or if you don’t know everything about them. Imagine if you got pregnant and had children involved. Then you’ve ruined that child’s image of what love is. It seems like love isn’t real, that there’s no infinite feelings of it and there’s no point in settling down with someone. We are all looking for our companion, and we all need to be way more careful.
Fuck sake , when you was married and your marriage video I sent it to my fiance this will be us one day, clearly not. 😂😂😂 Just admit it was never real Sam will always be an immature little boy. You're a grown and mature women I can tell :)

Skylar Huffman no they’re getting a divorce
I knew they wouldn’t last
I know divorce is pretty normal now but I do sometimes feel alone when it comes to having divorced parents.
I’m glad you realized it’s not your fault!
Rosa van Iterson Pottorff it was hard growing up always thinking i could have done something to change it.
my parents have been divorced for a year. i was very unsocial and wouldnt speak to anyone at my school. then i found out why and i officially only wanted to live with my mom. my dad cheated on my mom for TWO YEARS! i hates him and i still do. when i go to his house it’s actually torture having to sit there and act like i forgave him.
I could never 😐😐😑😬
I feel like they rushed into it
My parents got divorced in 2011,and to this day they still don't get along and as a fourteen Year old girl this makes me pretty upset because I just want them to stand each other.
Rosa van Iterson Pottorff , I'm so happy you answerd, thank you for hearing me out. I recently started watching your channel and I really love it💕😚
Did you and Sam get a Divorce or no?
hailey marvin they did, a long time ago
why did they divorce?
sav he posted it on his instagram
But I still see he posts about her?
@@andreacantor1226 when?
thankyou so so so much.
SimplyNur true it depends on the situation, the way they were to each other
are u guys still diggin it n winging it ?? i wanna get married
@@summer-uv3su nah man , we’re divorced listen to her lol
@@nurfurqan9167 omge😭😭 im so sorry
i’m 14 and my parents got divorced two years ago and my mom always drags me into things but i let her because i’m the last kid at home my three siblings are all in college and they always talk about each other and ive tried to help them out but they don’t listen to me because they say i’m too young to understand but i completely understand it hurts me more that they say i’m too young to understand
yikes
Hey Rosa I always enjoy taking time to watch your channel and your channel with Sam, I actually went through a divorce myself and that's how I found you guys was just spending time on RUclips,I just wanted to tell you thank you for your always positive vibes and approach as a feminist in a positive way, as I like to think I do myself! Much love from Florida (p.s would love to hear more about the trails of your first year of marriage as I think it is much a really thing ! )
Thank you for watching! I’m glad you enjoy the videos and I’m sorry you went through that!
What... no...😭
I was a 6 month old baby when my family got divorced I never seen my parents happy together
i’m only here because before they even got married, shane talked on his old podcast about how she and sam wouldn’t last 😵
That’s why people shouldn’t rush into marriage.
Keep doing what ur doing, I know this is going to help so many people.... at least I hope it does.
but it’s also the best thing that has happened. my mom is so much more happy and in the moment
When did they divorce?
So sad....: their wedding was so nice
My parents are still married 24 years 😊
My parents got divorced and my grandma and grandpa got divorced too and it’s kinda hard to get use to it
My parents got a divorce when I was about 9-10 years old and my dad had custody of me on the weekends. It hurt me how much he spoke negatively of my mom... I don't know why he told me those awful things when I was at an age too young to understand. I eventually told my mom and my dad found out about it and yeah I cried lol... he seemed angry at me for snitching i guess :(
Y'all really need to take several seats because it's not y'all life .. they got married .. they got divorced it's done
FACTS
Yesterday I experienced a fist fight between my parents. I already erased it out of my head because I don't want to think about it anymore. I DO feel like im in the middle of it. I DO feel like I have to choose. We all still live in the same house so they are not, yet, divorced. Sometimes I want them to but other times I don't because I suffer from really bad seperation anxiety. I just really don't know what to do or how to feel. :(
Came here for the hot tea but instead I got boiling water.... mmm..
My parents have been divorced for almost 18 years. And not always does stuff get better. They both still talk shit about each other and they hate each other so
Thank for this video Rosa! It has helped me so much! ❤️❤️
i think divorce is a beautiful thing it’s true love either for your self or for the partner that you’re divorcing in a weird way like i love myself enough to do this difficult thing cause it will make me happy or i love you enough to let you go because it will make us happier you know idk that’s my take
Divorce hit me hard because my parents got a divorce last year and it was hard
I have never acctually haven’t had to deal with this but I want to learn more about it
Folks always coming young age and shit, it has nothing to do wit that. It’s all about timing and what the future awaits for both of u
You got married way too fast.
If I got to marry an o2l member I would have never let him go... Fr
