Royal Ocean- your willingness to experiment with the form of the video essay is what has consistently elevated you beyond so many other RUclipsrs. Keep doing great work!
at first I was worried the sequence of having a different photo in every frame was going to go for the rest of the video, but luckily the short film turned out really captivating! I like it!
Head and shoulders, the best video essayist working right now. You push the form continually and at your best truly elevate it to self-expression instead of just an information dump supported by moving images and a soundtrack.
I've also been here a while, started supporting Patreon this past summer, and I just gotta say it's been fun....I've seen every video. Thanks Andrew!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
One of your finest videos yet. Went ahead and subscribed with my shorts account as well as my personal one because you deserve it. Congrats on an early 100k!
Outstanding. Emotional. I still have my first and all my other 35mm cameras. I may not have all the photos I took with them, but they remind me of the events I captured with them.
Believe it or not I think that I've got all the film stills and movies I've made - in countless boxes, most have been stored to digital file. But, there is still nothing like picking up a real photo or watching projected movies. And all my analogue cameras still work. A work of craft and beauty to behold a 16mm Bolex whirring away by clockwork motor.
Excellent video!!! Loved it! A film shooter myself, makes me think of all the things my cameras have seen before and since coming to my possession. Great idea bro, love it
Dis shows ur passion for film-making; amazing editing.Keep up the good work...ull be soon reaching a million subscribers nd we, ur audience, will grow with u.
As someone who learned photography on a Nikon F2 I found in my dad’s closet, I relate so much to this video! I’m so happy that film is coming back! Great job man, killer video!
Awww T_T...i felt so bad when they said "we'll need to convert..." And just dump that camera who survived so many beautiful journeys...awesome video...just loved it ;)
Very very grateful for all of the kind, lovely comments you guys and gals have written! I really do have the best audience on all of RUclips!
how did you film the tv in the dark room scenes?
Awesome video! Love it
Really adorable video. I love film essays, but sometimes a video about loving filmmaking itself and what it represents is more important to watch.

Excellent as usual! What a journey.
What is this, some sort of original content on RUclips?
Been here since 10k subs I'm going to go ahead and give you an early congrats on getting 100k it's been a grand ride!
This made me emotional to the point of getting moist eyes
_moist_
the fact that the photos are matched to the voice and therefore are slightly out of phase with the beat adds so much emotion
I really enjoy how much the colors pop in those photos.
at first I was worried the sequence of having a different photo in every frame was going to go for the rest of the video, but luckily the short film turned out really captivating! I like it!
This brought tears to my eyes. Thank you :')
