- Between April 15th and 16th, 1998, 13 tornadoes raged through Middle Tennessee, two of them touching down in Nashville. One of those hit The Hermitage, the former home of Andrew Jackson, nearly taking out the nearly 200-year old mansion he used to live in.

Which President's house is in danger of being hit by a tornado next?
Probably Truman’s. Midwest gets hit hard with tornadoes around now
@@daltalfsotheracc I'd say George Bush Jr.'s museum is more vulnerable
One of Kayne West's houses probably.
Any in Kansas, Nebraska, Oklahoma or Texas.
As of right now, there's a tornado watch in my region. @@daltalfsotheracc
Andrew Jackson postemously challenged the tornado to a duel. 😐
lol
He 🎶 talked traaaash 🎶 about the tornado
@@fujiwaranovarihistory has been too kind to the tornado because the tornado actually FIRST started to 🎶 _talk traaaash_ 🎶 on just about everyone in the mid-west.
Andrew Jackson Vetoed the Tornado
He sure would have...
@@iammrbeat King Andrew 1 - 0 Tornado
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Poor Jacko. Now he must relocate going on a trail.
Congrats for 1 million Mr. Beat! Can't believe I suscribed almost 4 years ago. Keep it up!
Congrats on hitting 1 million!
Well thank you!
Andrew Jackson had been dead 150 years? Good thing he wasn't home.
lol well he WAS home actually...he's buried in his backyard
Old Hickory is so strong that even almost 200 after his death, mother nature is still scared to mess with him.
I was born in Nashville and raised in Old Hickory, about 5 mins away from The Hermitage. I was 4 years old when this tornado hit and I still can remember parts of that day.
Thanks for sharing that. It's a beautiful part of the world.
That was a CRAZY day!!! I was in after school at Jones magnet in North Nashville (on Buchanan Street). We learned they issued a tornado warning while we were doing a tornado drill. Now, during the April 1995 tornado, I was a kindergartner at Cora Howe, and remember very well that they issued a warning that day, and nothing happened other than some really dark skies and heavy rain. So naturally I thought we'd be fine. Boy was I wrong! About 10 minutes later, while it was pouring, the lights started flickering, and then the power went out. Finally the storm passed, what felt like an eternity later. Then my dad picked me up. While we were crossing the Jefferson Street bridge, another warning was issued, and while no tornado touched down from that storm in the same area where the first one hit, being stuck on the bridge for 20 minutes was terrifying. I lived on Petway in east Nashville at that point, and we got home to no power, but no damage other than a few shingles missing. But just 3-4 blocks south of our place, on Eastland, past Stratton all the way to Ordway, tornado damage was everywhere, notably narrowly sparing the house of then-future mayor Bill Purcell. 0/10, hated that day
Another neat bit of trivia about this event is that the guitar company Gibson made guitars out of the wood from the destroyed trees, and themed them around Andrew Jackson.
My favorite president❤❤❤
The hermitage is pretty cool. I'd recommend it if you care about American history at all.
Why? As someone with some native American lineage, it would feel wrong going there.
@@aouyiu The museum does a fairly decent job of acknowledging the atrocities toward Native Americans.
@@aouyiu History is history. He was a slave owner too. No one decent will argue that the trail of tears or the enslavement of a Africans was right. I think it's important to learn about history. In many cases so that shit doesn't happen again. Because it definitely can. I'm mostly white and look it but I'm 10% central African and 20% native American. They might have held questionable ideals but they built this nation that I fought for. It ain't perfect but it ain't north Korea. More people need to be aware of genocide against Natives Jackson championed and ultimately authorized.
Andrew Jackson's ghost: "Bring it on tornado! *shoots old fashioned pistol at tornado
I went there, and one of the tour guides remembered you! You're a pretty memorable guy😊
“Don’t worry. He wasn’t home.” Uh… I was hoping he’d be home.
Did not know that thanks Mr. Beat
Heck yes
Congratulations on 1 Million
Wasn't alive at that time but what I do remember is December 9, 2023 when a big tornado outbreak happened and it was near my home good thing it didn't hit my home though. Also my birthday is coming up soon!
Hope your family is safe with all the tornadoes coming through lately 🙏
Sweet
Tornado fumbled the ball 😭
Dang straight
this is a legit fear i have of any museum, since they can't control something like a Tornado
I thought you gunna say it didn't because he beat it with his cane.
lol another missed opportunity!
I went to the Hermitage in August 2022, they didn't allow us to take pictures which was such a bummer :(
His undead body somehow stopped the tornado. Probably dueled it
What was the official rating of this tornado?
I wonder if they had blueprints on standby if the house was reduced to rubble and they could recreate it
We Love you, Mr. Beat!
Adrew must've 🎶 Taaallked Traaaashhh 🎶
It reminds me of the Wizard of Oz and the weird crossover with Tom and Jerry
Damn unlucky why’d the tornado miss
I liked the hermitage when I went in 2022
Uh oh
How many tornadoes eould you estimate jackson has seen? (This one dont count he dead)
Well if it did take out his house in ‘97 id be $40 richer
Old House lol
Old Hickory :)
Not much of a tragedy to be honest, I take that back, the trees didn't deserve that
Bro I got this vid tryna search mr beast
That is the only presidential place I have been to. Unless me going to DC when I was a baby counts, but I don't remember a thing so I do not think so
Cool crib, tho
lol
"A tornado hit Andrew Jackson's house" 😃
"almost" 😕
oh horrors. the opulent home of a genocidaire built on the back of slaves almost got destroyed. the horror is that it only almost did. 😉
Sigma🤑🤑🤑🕋
It failed to hit him, and he beat it with his cane until a cumulus cloud pulled him off
This checks out
Bad Hank Ai
