I actually played for Jimmy Carter's 85th Birthday in Georgia with the St. Genevieve High School Choir. Apparently his favorite tune, which we played, was John Lennon's "Imagine", but other stuff we also played some Earth Wind & Fire, Ray Charles' "Georgia on My Mind" (of course) and "Beneath My Wings" for Rose, his wife. Didn't get to play any Allman Brothers though - would have liked to rock a Duane Allman slide solo for him.

I can sympathize with the presidents in the 1800s. Music was much harder to come by than it is today. No radio, no records, no CDs, no MP3, no TV, etc... No freakin' way to record sound. If you wanted music you either had to learn to play an instrument or find someone to play for you. We have it too easy today.

While I understand your point and we should appreciate the difficulties in the past that don't plague us today, we shouldn't be so quick to derive our current generations from the basis of our comfort today due to the discomfort of yesterday. People naturally said this back in Washington's time, all the ways in which people had it easy in so many ways compared to their ancestors. And then I can guarantee that this mindset will be used to uphold us in the next century when people have things easier. And mine you, with things like music, this isn't us getting more and more undisciplined or even lazy, it's purely about music's availability today compared to centuries ago due to technological advancements, and those were definitely worth it!
Again, I can guarantee you that while I can't say what people will point to to illustrate that we had it much harder back in the day (I'm not a fortune-teller), there will be something. But I don't want that mindset. Again, every generation will inevitably be told that they have it way too easy "these days", only to then be praised by the next generation who complain about things being too easy for us "these days". As long as we maintain a respectful and respectable moral character, it shouldn't really matter. I'm definitely not saying this to degrade your point, because it's a noteworthy one. But from either direction of derision and admiration regarding the "we have it too easy these days", I feel condescended to. Because my strengths shouldn't be defined purely by life's challenges. If anything, it should be to overcome them.

DJT's favourite song being "Is That All There Is?" is striking.
For those who aren't familiar, the lyrics are almost all spoken, and the narrator recounts three different events that happen to her: her house burning down when she was a little girl, her dad taking her to the circus when she was a bit older, and finally falling in love with "the most wonderful boy in the world". After each event is over, she reflects on how disappointing it ultimately was, concluding that life has no meaning. She then discusses the prospect of ending her life, but reasons that this, too, would be a disappointing experience. So the narrator resolves to spend her life having carefree fun, since nothing means anything.
I would normally not read too much into the psychological meaning of someone's favourite music, but for that song to be someone's *favourite* really is something.

I actually thought of this idea too! I predicted it! I’m not sure how you’d get the first 20 president’s favorite tunes, but I’ll take a look.

Yeah, little information is out there about their favorite tunes, so the 1700s and 1800s go by quickly

Music is one of the things I absolutely enjoy. I don't have a favorite per se, but I do have playlists for different things, such as music for sleep (to which I have over 450 songs for that alone).

Weird fact: in the Kennedy Center for Performing Arts, once was performed the James Bond Theme, with Connery assidting there. And as we all know, JFK was a huge James Bond fan, and watched From Russia With Love right before he was assassinated. He had once quoted, "I wish I had James Bond in my staff"

Most likely. Not me though. I'm a musician and I upload to Spotify, iTunes and Amazon regularly but they haven't even notified me that I will be receiving any money. Spotify is an evil company though. In order to make just a measly $1 you have to acquire 200 or more streams on one song, so in order to make a full time career out of it with enough pay to afford rent and gear you have to get an average of 800,000 streams per track and you would have to upload at least 1 track per month which equates to $4,000 per month. In order to make $1,000,000 off of a song, you would need to acquire over 200,000,000 plays on one song which is ridiculous and the only musicians who can actually attain those numbers are the top 100 artists on Spotify. Trust me, popular musicians aren't rich because people listen to their music, they're rich because record companies use them for their popularity and pay them to do ads and dress a certain way or make specific songs.

Truman actually took piano lessons from a very famous teacher in Kansas City before his family ran out of money. Had it not been for that financial downturn, there is speculation that Truman would have been a professional musician. His piano teacher's piano teacher's piano teacher was one of the great composers, I think. There is something impressive in there, I don't remember exactly what it is.
Also, when W was president, he lost his i-pod on a jog or something and his i-tunes list was published. I was amazed at the music on that thing, as I did not know that someone I disagree with so much politically could have musical taste so close to my own. I was even more shocked when I saw his paintings and loved them. Maybe you could do a video on hobbies of presidents sometime, I wonder who else painted.
Love your videos and keep them going.

Truman's piano teacher studied piano under Polish composer Theodore Leschetitzky who at age 11 accompanied one of Mozart's sons; and also studied piano under Carl Czerny who was a famous Austrian pianist and composer.
