It's really interesting to find the Whitcomb last name here, here in Argentina a British man named Alexander Witcomb (1835-1905) established the first photographic studio on the country at the end of the 19th century. That's where some of the most iconic photographs of Argentine history were taken, like the full body portrait of President Julio Argentino Roca at 1900, and some sources say it also photographed Presidents Sarmiento and Mitre among others.

This video has just reminded me of the time when my fifth grade teacher and one of my classmates at the time found out they were related in the middle of class. I don’t even remember how it came up exactly, but I thought it was cool
Aloha Matt, I am related to both you and Mr. Beat. Your Grandfather Arnold was my 6th cousin 5 times removed and your Grandmother Melda was my 8th cousin 3 times removed. Hello, 12th cousin once removed! Weirdly it looks like I'm not a descendant of King John even though I'm half English. Most recent king I found was Henry III. This is all according to Geni, though. Also Zachary Taylor is my closest presidential relative, my 4th cousin 8 times removed. Both of us are descendants of Isaac Allerton, who came on the Mayflower. We're also both descendants of William Brewster, another passenger.
When a great aunt of mine found that she (we) descended from people named Bush, that spurred her on to do more genealogical research to find, much to her relief, that that line is _not_ related to the US presidents.
I am using Ancestry for my research and it is pretty interesting where people related to me live. I live in germany, most my ancestors lived here too but there are also parts of my family tree in the states, in canada, england, the netherlands, sweden and italy. Very interesting stuff.
Hey Matt, in reference to 10:30, even I - a regular Dutch guy - managed to find out that I'm a descendant of King John despite not even having a single recent ancestor from the UK, Ireland or US. This is because his daughter Isabella married Holy Roman Emperor Friedrich II. Their daughter Margaretha married the margrave of Meißen and that's how it eventually came into the German side of my family :)
My dad tells me that we are related to the Portuguese royal family although I still haven't seen any proof of that. My dad's cousin managed to get the title of "Don" so maybe one day I'll try to get that too
This man has inspired me to make my own family tree, it goes back to the early 1500's now EDIT: Turns out that he is my dad's 15th cousin twice removed
Awesome videos as always! My ancestors kept changing their surnames every 2 generations, without mentioning their wives even. As such I can't find any records beyond my great great Grandfather :(
You may thanks us for watching, but truly it is us who should thank you. Very interesting video, this only encourages me more to dig up my family tree.
Apparently I'm a direct descendant of king Henry the 7th. This wouldn't put me in the line of succession because I'd need to be a direct descendant of Sophia of the Palatinate which to me knowledge I'm not. P.S even if I was in line for the thrown there'd be hundreds of others before me. Edit: I did some extra research and I'm 17th Cousins four times removed to queen Elizabeth.
Have enjoyed your videos for a long time, so was delighted to learn we are related. The wife of John Prescott (1604-1681) was a cousin of one of my Gawkroger ancestors. I am also descended from King John (via King Edward III).
I have been using My Heritage since last summer and I have to attest it is actually surprisingly easy to use, the amount of things I was able to discover about my family trees is incredible. One of those is that I have ancestors that trace back to the Massachusetts Bay Colony as well, though not the Whitcombs. Neat.
Hey Matt! This video really convinced me to start tracing my family tree and history on MyHeritage but I’m not sure I will get very far because I’m from Australia and my ancestors have been since the beginning of European settlement down under, and I’m wondering if on MyHeritage there’s not that much information on Australian heritage? If anyone else knows that would be cool as well
From Indonesia, your recorded lineage and mine meet in Henry II of England, yours went with John, while mine (and many, incredibly many others' in my area) follow the line of Eleanor.
See theres an issue for me. While my grandparents on my fathers side can easily traced back to early 1900s Russian decent, my moms side is a lot more challenging. My moms great ancestors were some of the first people to migrate from France to the St. Lawrence colony. Over time they most likely intermarried with local Canadian natives, making me French and Canadian if you go back centuries but as you mentioned it's difficult to trace back to the 1500s and so it will be challenging to ever know if I'm connected to French royal families. But I may be connected to some far Eastern European royals as I am incredibly Russian and most likely part Polish, Finnish and Ukrainian so one of those have to work right?
I made a family tree when I was in my early 20's, and I used to think it was impressive until I realized how common it was. I am pretty closely related to a couple handfuls of US Presidents though, like closer than Mr. Beat is to President Eisenhower.
It does make a lot of sense that most people with European ancestry are related to some European royals but I assume you're talking about Christians. Now my question is are Jews with European ancestry, possibly related to European royals too? And I also have to say that it's really cool that you and Mr. Beat are related to each other and some American presidents.
Hey UsefulCharts, for a suggestion for the next video, can you please do a video responding to comments from your Bible video on which characters are historical? I would love that thanks!

It's so cool that Western churches hold logs dating back centuries. Oldest date you can go in the Muslim world (Middle-East at least) is 1800s if you're lucky.
I need to point something out. So, what is it? Everyone in the world is everyone's cousin. How? If we go back 5 generations from mine (I am 10), we discover that I have 2 to the 5th (128) great-great grandparents. But that's not even close to world population. If we go back 40 generations, you WILL see that I have 2 to the 40th (1099511627776) great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great grandparents alive at the same time. This is impossible, so there should have been a ton of inbreeding, or people marrying their cousins and reproducing via them. We also know that humanity has been around for 7500 generations, meaning that ONE PERSON should (but cannot) have 2 to the 7500th (5.3084469288402965416 x 10^2257) ancestors alive at the same time, but that's impossible due to overpopulation. ANOTHER THING! If there could only be up to 7.8 billion people alive at the same time, then out of those 1099511627776 ancestors, only 7.8 billion actually exist and EVERYONE IN THE WORLD SHARES AT LEAST ONE ANCESTOR! This is why everyone is everyone's cousin.
This is the coolest family tree I have ever seen. The George Bush’s, Dwight D. Eisenhower, the king of England, you, Mr. Beat, and even somebody I saw in this comment section are on it. That’s crazy.

That's where some of the most iconic photographs of Argentine history were taken, like the full body portrait of President Julio Argentino Roca at 1900, and some sources say it also photographed Presidents Sarmiento and Mitre among others.
You're saying Joseph Whitcomb, but highlighting John Whitcomb.
Loved this video! I'm a regular viewer of GeneaVlogger's channel. 🙂
My husband's mother's maiden name is Cornwall.
Yeah. The audio was a mistake and too late to change. John is correct.
I am related to Mr. Beat from his Grandmother Mabel , whom was my 11th cousin. I am so happy that one of the people that I love watching here is you Matt and that we are related. I love genealogy as much as you do and love your useful charts. Mahalo for what you do
That's kinda common though. But still sort of Nice i guess.
POV: You thought it said "Mr. Beast"
That's increnable, I've done myheritage projcet in 7th grade where we had to do a big assignment which we had to find our paternal ancestors. We found out that some of us (the students) are related to each other, we even got second-cousins in our classes.
It’s fun but very distant cousins are common to happen in countries eventually if you aren’t recently immigrated. Icelands whole population is on average 6th cousins.
i wish i had family trees this easy to discover
i literally dont know the first name of 2 of my great grandpas
Couldn't you just ask? (If (great-)parents are still alive and have contact.)
@@aramisortsbottcher8201
my grandma is still alive, but she doesnt know the name of the actual biological father, she just knows that a jewish friend suspiciously visited her mom often, and we all have jewish dna, she doesnt know what his name was.
@@jana31415 Oh, ok, I did not think of that scenario.
Bruh imagine how many people now will be grossed out once they find out that their partner is somehow related to them… especially in Europe, Africa or Asia it is not hard to match your 11th or even 5th cousin on Tinder without even knowing! Lmao
I don't see a problem, this is how it was since millennia.
@@aramisortsbottcher8201 But nobody knows or thinks about this and I don’t think a lot of people will actually leave their partner after they find it out! Lol
No wonder there is a lot of ugly looking people in the world.
I found that my mom's brother's wife (my aunt) is also my 30th cousin, once removed.
When a great aunt of mine found that she (we) descended from people named Bush, that spurred her on to do more genealogical research to find, much to her relief, that that line is _not_ related to the US presidents.
why did i read the title as mr beast? i have click baited myself
I descend from King Alfonso V "The Magnanimous" of Aragon through an illegitimate daughter on my Sicilian side.
U.S and Canada: We are brothers
Matt Baker and Mr Beat: Are cousins
That's so freaking cool! I love studying genealogy and I enjoy watching the both of you!
My dad tells me that we are related to the Portuguese royal family although I still haven't seen any proof of that. My dad's cousin managed to get the title of "Don" so maybe one day I'll try to get that too
Dom Diogo sounds nice.
This man has inspired me to make my own family tree, it goes back to the early 1500's now
EDIT: Turns out that he is my dad's 15th cousin twice removed
So Bush is related to a king of England
Here before Mr Beat comments
Have enjoyed your videos for a long time, so was delighted to learn we are related. The wife of John Prescott (1604-1681) was a cousin of one of my Gawkroger ancestors. I am also descended from King John (via King Edward III).
When doing my wife's family tree, I found that she was related to Patrick Henry. I'm only related to a bunch of cousins of William the Conqueror.
I thought the video read that you’re related to Mr Bean and I got very excited.
I have been using My Heritage since last summer and I have to attest it is actually surprisingly easy to use, the amount of things I was able to discover about my family trees is incredible. One of those is that I have ancestors that trace back to the Massachusetts Bay Colony as well, though not the Whitcombs. Neat.
So many of you are lucky that you have your history my grandparents don't even know their birthdays
I wish I knew more about my family's heritage.
Hey Matt! This video really convinced me to start tracing my family tree and history on MyHeritage but I’m not sure I will get very far because I’m from Australia and my ancestors have been since the beginning of European settlement down under, and I’m wondering if on MyHeritage there’s not that much information on Australian heritage? If anyone else knows that would be cool as well
It's a free trial. I'd say give it a try and see how much Australia info they have.
@@UsefulCharts thanks so much for the reply! I will definitely give the free trial a go!
I'm the Quadrumillion1billonth son of Adam And Eve.
Small world, huh?
i wouldn't tout being related to King John, one of if not the most horrible and ineffective kings in all of England's monarchy.
I made a family tree when I was in my early 20's, and I used to think it was impressive until I realized how common it was. I am pretty closely related to a couple handfuls of US Presidents though, like closer than Mr. Beat is to President Eisenhower.
I missed read you comment as that you were cousins with Mr. Beast.
It does make a lot of sense that most people with European ancestry are related to some European royals but I assume you're talking about Christians. Now my question is are Jews with European ancestry, possibly related to European royals too?
And I also have to say that it's really cool that you and Mr. Beat are related to each other and some American presidents.
Yes
Hey UsefulCharts, for a suggestion for the next video, can you please do a video responding to comments from your Bible video on which characters are historical? I would love that thanks!
When you are a Mormon and get family history sites for free. Seriously, isn't that strange? If you are a Mormon you can make an account with any Genealogical website for free.
It's all part of mormon domination plan
I wonder if it’s possible to do this when all your living ancestors were born in communist Cuban
Hey being elected Holy Roman Emperor means he’s at least entitled to be called King of the Romans even if he doesn’t receive his regalia.
bro is related to william the conqueror( king william was the first ever king)
How do you manage to find all of your ancestors so far back to even the 15th century?? I would love to do this
We are related in some way through Edmond of Cornwall..
Now that is truly interesting! A great connection between two great youtubers!
I am descended from john whitcomb's 2x great grandfather Rev. John Taylor, of Shadoxhurst. Hi cousins.
The greatest royalty tree
".....And currently he's doing me"
Oh shi-
I believe, if we go back far enough, we can trace our family tree back to Adam & Eve 😃
Where did all the races come from?
Guys don’t be confused of Mr beast,is Mr beat?not beast,Mr beast name is Jimmy Donaldson
Would be interesting to have your viewers seeing who their closest fellow viewer relative is!
might be hard for me to find it
Matt and Matt are related?
It's so cool that Western churches hold logs dating back centuries. Oldest date you can go in the Muslim world (Middle-East at least) is 1800s if you're lucky.
It's amazing how people connect to each other
I need to point something out.
You are on it too!
When ur Irish so all the family records were destroyed and ur only chance is to travel the country and visit churches
That's clear as day as you both are from the Matt's family! [/s]
Technically we’re all cousins thanks to Charlemagne 😂
How cool! Love these videos.
I did research and found one of my closest friends is my 8th cousin. one of our ancestors had 2 wives. her family is from one wife and my family the other lol
I'm def related to you guys too 😊 I don't remember exact connections offhand, but a great uncle on my mom's side has done extensive research on our shared family line which traces back to the Prescotts of colonial times, English kings including John, & many, many more. Most a my mom's side have lived in what's now the US, while my dad's side & some a my mom's, namely the non-English among them, little's known for sure beyond my great x2 grandparents. My English ancestry, whether going by paper trails or DNA tests, is
You should do Michael Jackson’s family tree
Does this mean that the Bible is correct in stating that everyone on earth descends from Noah through his three sons?
*Oh, mannn!* (I read this in Swiper/Marc Weiner's voice)
Well theoretically if you go far enough down the tree, are all related somehow.
I used to be related to Arnold Schwarzenegger, by marriage, when he was married to Maria Shriver (who I'm also related to by marriage).
On my workplace in Munich in Germany I have a collegue, she comes also from very old noble families. She is the great-great granddaughter in maternal line of the bavarian kings. She is also a descendant of Sophie from Palatinate, the woman, who is by the Act of settlement from 1707 the mother of the british royal family - she is arround position 2,100 of the appearant list for the british throne. And, ansolutly crazy: she is a descendant of Pope Paul III.
Hi, Nice to meet you DISTANT Cousin several times removed and through various marriages and an adoption (familial). I'm related to you through Josiah Whitcomb's son Hezekiah. His Granddaughter Relief married a (many times) Great-Grand Uncle. It's get's a little complicated because my Great-Great Grandpa was born with the last name Doane after both his parents died, he was adopted by his paternal Aunt who had married an Oakes who was the 10th? Great Grandson of Relief Whitcomb and William Oakes Sr.
so technically you have a weak claim to the crown of England. Your majesty I shall raise my sword in your name and fight so that the true monarch shall reign over all
How do you discover who your ancestors are?? Like i can go 4 generations tops in merely one branch of my family, where do people get this kind of information from? I already took a MyAncestry dna test and made my a family tree years ago but it’s not like they do an investigation for you.
