  • The WDR Big Band feat. Lucy Woodward (vocals) performing "Strangers In The Night" by Bert Kaempfert, Charles Singleton and Eddie Snyder This title, which has made Frank Sinatra so famous, was newly arranged for the WDR Big Band by Chris Walden (conductor).
The new concert series "Pure Sound" is different from ordinary concerts: the WDR Big Band sits in a small theatre in the middle of the audience. The focus is on large-format jazz, but it is also about new acoustic and visual impressions. It's about being there and experiencing: Jazz up close. Lucy Woodward was born in London as the daughter of two classical musicians, and spent her childhood in Holland and New York. Whether with her own band or as a singer with Pink Martini, Snarky Puppy or Rod Stewart, with whom she has been on stage as a background singer for years: Woodward is also a cosmopolitan in musical terms. Musically, this concert will be conducted by Chris Walden, who lives in Los Angeles and is also internationally successful as a film and television composer. Pure Sounds concert, produced in October 2018, Gloria Theater / Cologne.
