Explanation about naming your pet after a food rumor: So in my other comment, a lot are saying "what about onion or corn". It's possible that in order for the rumor to work, the food name to be chosen should be something unique and special and not something simple. Jaiden named Torchic "Teriyaki" which is not just a food but a recipe while on the other hand, she named Shroomish/Breloom and Seedot/Nuzleaf "Onion" and "Corn" which is simple and blant and honestly, onion and corn are more considered "ingredients" than "food". Jaiden could've easily named Torchic "Chicken" or "Spicy Chick" or "Drumstick" or something in the same caliber but instead she named it "Teriyaki", a food that is quite literally legendary and well known. So that's probably why Teriyaki lived to the very end but Onion and Corn didn't. But even with that, Onion and Corn, despite dying quite early still managed to outlive some of Jaiden's Pokemon such as Mawille or "Chomps" and Whismurr or "Hush Child" so in a sense, the rumor DID worked on the two, Teriyaki just lived the longest since he is named after a special kind of food. Then again, what do I know? I'm not even Japanese

After doing some research I found out that EV is gained by knocking out pokemons that grants exp, but how does the calculation works? and does knocking out certain types of pokemon gives EV for certain stats or the EV gained from killing pokemon will just give extra points to all stats?

10:11 just a fun fact if anyone never noticed/saw the lets play, but the team that gets killed here is actually from another channel called "TFS Gaming" from when they did their own nuzlocke. In the episode when they fought against the flying gym leader they had lost to her previously, but decided to try again and keep the previous attempt as a "separate timeline" of sorts, but had the 2nd attempt in the official episode, but had the first attempt in a separate video. (and from what I heard, some people when they figured out that they were doing a second attempt and what they were watching wasn't the first, were kind of upset)

It was at 9:00 in the video that she said it, and you sounded unfamiliar. When we are made sad enough to cry by something that is considered to be a small deal (The death of a videogame character, for example.) sometimes we use this phrase to pretend like we are not crying to cover it up. It's said as a joke, as people know we are crying. "Why are you crying?" "Someone was just chopping onions in here, man." So because this pokemon's name was Onion, and she cried over his death, this made a really nice wordplay. Exchanging cultural sayings!

in my current Omega Ruby playthrough, Gullible, my Wingull managed to KO the fighting-type gym all on her own makuhita was a bit tougher and almost killed her, but she pulled through and outsped, letting her kill it with Wing Attack and seeing makuhita's origins for its name... i could see why they changed it a bit lol
