Hey Matt my name is Matt too! Haha but I just wanted to say your a huge inspiration to me. Before I started watching you I thought I had no chance of be aiming a good soccer player. But after I started watching you I started to train every single day and I can tell I got so much better. I'm not the best or amazing but I training to become that. Two years ago I a chubby and wanted to make a difference I started to workout and finally after 4 months I lost 45 pounds. I started to do weight lifting about a year and a half ago and I'm still going at it about 4 or 5 times a week. I'm also training twice a day for soccer. Just wanted to say to keep up the great work! And thank you!
Amazing! So happy that my videos have changed your life for the better. Very cool to read. Keep working hard every single day and you'll continue to see great results.
been here from the start... its great to see how much this channel has grown and the journey of your life. Hope to see more progression here, your professional life and personal life!!!
I think you struck a gold mine with these videos. Its a VERY good concept. I myself was pondering filming and uploading a full series intended to go from when I'd start going to professional tryouts, the fails, the wins, eventually making it to a team, and continuing until hopefully making it to a high caliber professional team. I'm glad you started this series and wish you the best of luck in your endeavors. You seem like you work hard and love what you do. I have a feeling you'll go far if you keep it up. cheers!
you are a very inspirational footballer!! I watched your video on a full training session in a tiny box and I am truly amazed I've been doing it every day ever since.I have been watching you for a long time now and your mentality is awesome,I hope you play for the mls one day!!!!!!
Matt your a huge inspiration for me. I have only recently discovered this channel but for a young American player, this channel is the best thing out there advice wise.
Loved your Q+A and all your other videos. Very inspirational and educational. Well edited, etc. I'm a youth soccer coach and I appreciate that you've shared so much of your experience and knowledge! Good luck in 2017!
Loved the part where you said that your main goal was just to play soccer, you didn’t care if you made it professional or not. That’s how it should be.
Seeing this makes me happy that people actually successful in the things that they love. Sadly for me i never really had the opportunity to when i was younger to play for a actual team because i never had a ride or anything of that sort. Entered in highschool and same thing until junior yr. I was expected by the whole team because everyone wanted to see me play. The coaches never did know me so when i went i did everything at a high level even when we did a small scrimmage. I got bs'd when i realized there was ppl out there that werent near as good as me nor the average player (not trying to sound cocky) but they still got choosen because they know the coaches. I got let down super badly because everyone knew i shoudve been on the team. It sucks that i just never got a chance to be apart of an actual team when i have the potential
Just came across your videos tonight and I'm hooked. I understand how uncomfortable it is to answer any questions about wages or salaries so thank you for doing so. I was surprised to learn that USL players could earn up to $5000 a month. I'm assuming not too many lads make that but that's quite nice. You could have a nice life with that kind of money in Kentucky (where I live).
thankyou so much for making yr videos even though i have just come across yr chanel and already love your content its amazing and so helpful. Finally a chanel that has a footballer with experience teaching us the best ways to improve. Thankyou so much you are a star.
Again, great video mate:) I`m also playing football at high level and I`m 18, adapting to new positions and things, I have so many questions and somehow I always find atleast something that answers my questions and helps me develop:) Thank you, wish you all the best:)
I recently sustained a toe injury (my big right toe) and now I can't play soccer for the next 4-8 weeks (I have to wait until the swelling in my right toe decreases and looks like my left big toe). I've been feeling glum, the school year started and I've been having major plans to train and get better for soccer tryouts this year. I've been playing alot over the summer and was hoping to keep the ball rolling. The current plan is to weightrain mon-thurs and yoga fri/sat morning. But the original plan was to do that and play soccer in the afternoons, like I was doing in the summer. So, I'm not replacing soccer with anything, I'm just losing it for the next month or two. Hopefully I can gain muscle mass and flexibility during the months I can't train soccer/ running but I was planning to do that anyways and get better at soccer. So being able to weight train isn't making me feel much better. I was unable to make the team last year, and I had high confidence this year if I consistently trained prior, but now I feel my chance is gone. I remember you had that leg injury weight training in HS and I was hoping you can give me advice on how to stay positive / make the most of my time off soccer. Side Note: My toe has actually been fractured for a month and I've just been playing on a swollen toe. I didn't realize it was fractured all this time (as I could still play easily as long as I didn't toe blow) until it became hard to walk after a recent accidental toe blow. So I'm definitely not gonna brush this off and I will wait for my right toe to be fixed before I start playing again cuz I've been brushing this off for too long and prolly could have gotten off much lighter if I took off sooner.
Can you upload your highlight video that you sent to Davis, I wanna see what it takes to go Div 1, and what you should have in a highlight video. Thank you!
Hey man, I started playing soccer late, like 8th grade, I was alright, that summer I worked my ass off and tried out for the varsity team and by the grace of god I made it, (disclaimer: we were not good) I was a mediocre player especially since I was playing with people who played their whole life. I stopped playing soccer on a team after sophomore year because my school work got extremely hard and I was a part of other organizations. I never stop doing drills and playing on my free time though. I'm about to go to the marines, and my recruiter tells me that the marines have a soccer team. My goal is to train really hard on my free time and joining the USMC soccer team and after leaving the marines play D1 or D2 in college. People tell me all the time that I'm over shooting since I played on a team for only three years but I feel like if seriously put in the work to improve my skills and seriously learn about the game, I can achieve my goals, will your program help me with this?
Hey lads out here in the comment section. I am a german soccer player and I am currently 13 years of age. In the summer I am going to one of the best soccer camps in Germany where they tell you if they think you are going to make it as a pro baller. Wish me luck! Thanks!
This video gave me a lot of hope, hearing you say freshman year you weren't big or varsity, but I've got a question in the event that you ever see this. When you were in highschool, did you work out and grind as hard as you do now? Were you able to?
Just want to say something that is really frustrating to me and I need. I used to practice football in a club when I was like 6 years old untill 8-9. I used to play very good actually have talent, won a couple of tournaments and score a lot of goals. But then I left it because I move to another city and stop practicing that often (I was 10 y/o). Start to use the computer a lot actually, dont play football that much. Since then I just keep playing in the school and went to practice just a couple of times in vacations. But it was like I lost the inspiration and is rlly frustrating and was that what keep me out of the field. What really affectt me was my classmates of my new school (I joined it when I moved of town), in the beginning they say I play very well and they used to pick me for the matches, but then new classmates join later and play very good too and start to blame me, they say I play very bad and idk why but I believe them and stop playing like I used to do.
Since then they don't even pick me for the tournaments because they think I play bad. But I know that I still have that talent , but Im too scared to demostrate it because the 'bullying' left me traumatized :(. I have 16 y/o now and this problem rlly affects me because I fucking love football and want to become a better player but the fear dont let me show my 100%. Just want to write it if anyone could help because is something I never say and some help or advice is always good.
+Shotz Don't let them bring you down. Playing with better players only benefits you. You start to understand the littlest things more better which makes you become a better player. Observe how they play in certain situations and I will be sure that helps you. Also don't think negatively about yourself. Be Positive!!
+Shotz Hey Mate! I had the self problem when I was 13, I came in a new team without my friends for the first time, I was every time (one of) the best and I had so much talents and I have trained invidually at this time yet, but a couple of older bigger guys bullied me although theirself were bad at scoccer without even knowing how good i was since the beginning! I had also no confidence anymore too, played not a lot, the coach was a crooked asshole too... But then I met in a camp where I nearly got scouted very good people/players (with a good mindset) and in the camp I only found the fun of this beautiful again and I saw an opportunity, it was going well until I got injured me :( But the camp was although good despite my injury hindered that I got scouted, cuz I knew how good I was and that nobody can tell me how good i am and that I have no limits, no coach,no teammate, no opponent, no parents etc. And then unfortunately I thought I could stay ....
There because the coach went away and the older guys had to leave cuz they were too old but the dumb crooked coach told the coach from the Ateam wrong things and so after my injury although I was pretty good in the preseason I had to play in the Bteam again, but the Bteam also got new and this time good coaches and I played every game, not the whole games every time cause of my injuries, but from the beginning ...I also should do the freekicks, I was the best and did many assists and a few goals but in the winter break my old stupid coach came cuz the head coach of the Bteam got the coach for the keepers of the whole club's youth and he destroyed everything, at first I still played from the beginning but then he reproached me the only thing this season what wasn't at my best: my goals (5 or 6 in matches, but in tournaments I scored a lot more) - bythe way I am 15 now and I am a winger or offensive midfielder, but at this time I had to play sometimes as a forwards -
I wish I could be playing professionally. I see my brother who plays a Div A and also in the national tram but the amount he gets isn't really good. Had i made it to that level, I would have been much more happier/fulfilled then being an accountant.
9 to 5 job seems boring and I feel useless with a bunch a free time I would start soccer as a way to get out of it particularly because its interesting and your always up and doing something
This is my freshman year and I'm really aiming for varsity. I'm a girl and I've been training really hard and running every day. The coach from my highschool saw my best game in 8th grade just a couple months ago. I was the best on that team and I really stood out because of that. He knows me, and he knows what I can do. But not everything because I've been getting better. I can juggle 192 now and my touch is so much better. The tryouts are in the 2nd semester, and I'm kind of nervous for highschool. I'm going to try my hardest to be as good as I can get to the older girls. Any tips?
I'm 16 I weigh 112 and im 5"5. i play for Boca juniors soccer academy. i know diet is extremely vital and eating fruits and veggies is crucial but I need to gain weight... I train 5-6 days a week and probably burn 1,000 calories a day so I burn like a 1 pound at the end of the week. is it bad if i eat junk food or foods that have a lot of fat and calories since I need to gain weight and have fast metabolism and will burn it? I also mix in veggies along with the fatty foods. @become elite please answer.
dont have to eat junk food most likely make you feel sluggish, load up on carbs, easiest way would be to add a cup of brown rice to every meal and youll put weight on pretty quick, or bit more work track your calories, consume 500 extra calories a day and you will put a pound on a week, id recommend myfitnessPal to track your calories and weight
What you are talking about is called "Dirty bulking." I have done both dirty bulking and clean bulking (Only eat healthy foods to gain weight) and I can tell you that Dirty Bulking is not as effective. By eating unhealthy foods, you consume simple sugars and not enough protein which leads to less muscle growth and more fat gain. Even if you try to cut weight after you dirty bulked, you'll find that since you were filling up on foods low in protein, you don't even gain that much muscle. I know how hard it is to gain weight. I was 5'8" and 115 pounds when I was 16 years old so I was even lankier and skinnier than you. You just have to eat healthy foods rich in protein, complex carbs, and healthy fats. You have to eat 5-6 meals a day and you have to eat past the point of feeling full. It sucks, but if you want to see the best results, it's what you have to do.
Hey Matt! I was wondering how I would need to gain a little more weight? I'm 5'7 1/2 in. I weigh about 135. I'm 16 and I'm a Junior in HS. Also any tips on going to college. What to send to coaches, etc. Hopefully you can answer. I would greatly appreciate it!! A dream of mine is to go to the next level play pro some day!

They are all full-time footballers

Look Matt I have just started playing soccer I just wanted to know how to shoot the with and yes I have seen all your videos
So, I'm not replacing soccer with anything, I'm just losing it for the next month or two. Hopefully I can gain muscle mass and flexibility during the months I can't train soccer/ running but I was planning to do that anyways and get better at soccer. I think that you should be fine with some junk food but make sure to eat a lot of protein and good carbs and I think you should be fine

dont have to eat junk food most likely make you feel sluggish, load up on carbs, easiest way would be to add a cup of brown rice to every meal and youll put weight on pretty quick,
or bit more work track your calories, consume 500 extra calories a day and you will put a pound on a week, id recommend myfitnessPal to track your calories and weight
What's your hight and how many hour u give to your gym and football?
who gave you the idea to go in Germany ?
Yo man. Could u pls make a video on how to go pro in countries with poor scouting systems, talent detection...?
That being said, you should look into the Cincinnati Kings or Louisville City. Your money would stretch more here.
Try to get signed to the real monarchs I live in Utah and I would what you play
Matt, I respect how you didn't want to share your exact salary. You're sharing your knowledge of soccer with us, not your money lol.

Usually people pay to play at 3rd division and below.
I could probably play in the US 3rd div.
Do it.
