Pork Shish Kabobs - A Greek Recipe That Will Surprise You (Souvlaki)

- I've always loved grilled food. Combine a Greek twist with it, and you have perfection. That's why this pork souvlaki is so good. The most wonderful thing about the dish is its simplicity. The marinate is made with 7 easy ingredients: olive oil, lemon juice, garlic, oregano, thyme, salt, and pepper. All of these you'll have right in your pantry. You can marinate it for an hour or so, overnight, a few day, or grill the meat immediately. The longer the better of course. Nevertheless, whatever you decide to do, the outcome is simply nothing more than delicious.

I loved this marinade, it goes together in a minute and isn't fussy. I just grilled some kabob's that had marinated for about 2 hours and they were delicious. Thanks!!
Hi Jen. So glad you enjoyed the marinade. I know, it was really good wasn't it. Happy you enjoyed the kebabs. Did you barbeque them? You're so welcome and stay safe and well my friend.

Hey Graham. Yes, it was so good my friend. I don't blame you for wanting to get out in that sun. Please send the photo. Love the ones you send. Stay safe and well, Graham.
😋
Looks great! Pork is my preferred meat. Easy to deal with than chicken and cheaper than beef.
Hi. Thanks so much. Mine too. Hope you give them a try and enjoy.
Garlic means NO vampires!! And this looks great. I want to try this on my grill when it warms up here (far north!). P.S. I wish I hadn't had dinner already!
Hi Hollis. You got it. Thanks so much. I'm sure you will enjoy them. How far in the north are you? I used to live in the NWT. Let us know if you enjoy the pork. Stay safe and well.
@@TheCooknShare I am as far north as Quebec, but in the USA,
All you meat lovers out there, isn't this one amazing recipe? ❤️❤️it.
Hey Siew. Thanks so much my friend. Hope you are well.
Dave, I checked the Calmdo Grill - unfortunately it's out of stock here in US. I'll just keep on checking...For now I will try this recipe in the oven. Thanks for sharing!
Hey there. Oh really, that's too bad. Actually, there are other grills that are a bit more budget friendly. I'll have a look for you and let you know if you're in the market. Hope you try the recipe. Stay safe and well my friend.
@@TheCooknShare Thank you Dave. I just finished marinating the pork for tomorrow's dinner-:) Soo close to 1M!!! 🥳
@@cocoshi2306 I know. Getting excited. Hope you enjoy the pork. Remember to let us know.
Hey Dave 👋
If I want to cook these in an oven should I use a wire rack and what should the temperature and cooking time be.
Thanks Paul York
I Paul. I would say around 375 or 190 C. You could jack them up a bit if you like. Hope you enjoy. Let us know.
I would love to know how to season the rice like at the Greek restaurants!!
Hi Kelly. I'll look into it and let you know.
Try this one.... if this is not the type you normally get, let me know and I will see if I can find that recipe on RUclips or give you my recipe for it....

Since I don't have an indoor grill, should I do it in the oven or stove top in a fry pan. This looks tooooo dang good to not give it a go somehow. 🥰
Yes! We need to try this- even without indoor grill. I will do it in the oven -:)
Hi Kathy. You can do them without a grill. I would air fry them, fry them, or do them in the oven. Either way, I think you will enjoy them. Let us know.
Thanks Coco. Sounds great.
I have always made Souvlaki with lamb instead of pork. Good recipe, though.👍😋
Hi. Yes, I agree. Lamb is the best. It's just really hard and expensive here. Thanks so much. Hope you are well.
When souvlaki was invented they made with lamb but later on with pork because it was more cheaper. My mom still makes souvlaki with lamb, it's more tasteful. Thank you Dave for making another Greek recipe. Have a great day. Stay safe, stay healthy.
Hi. yes, I read that too. I would love it with lamb, but it's really expensive here, especially nowadays. You're so welcome and I love Greek food. I think I'd do well living there. LOL. You stay safe and well too my friend.
AMAZING YUMMY 😋 PORK K THANKS YOU GOODNESS 🌟❤️🖤💚🤎 FAMILY DAPHNE COTTON ALWAYS 💜
Hi Daphne. Thanks so much. Hope you try it and enjoy.
How long did it take to cook?
The cook time was 15 minutes or so.
If I want to bake these pork souvlakis in the oven about how long should they bake?
Hi. I think they should be done in about 25 minutes. Just keep an eye on them.
As a Greek, we don't 'bake' souvlaki. You could get away with broiling them, and that would be about 5-10 minutes, depending on how close the broiler they were, how big the cubes of pork are, and how done you like your pork.
Dave my friend, looks great and I like Greek food, I'll have to let you know on the girls as they have not had much exposure to Greek food, keep your stick on the ice pal
Hey Steve. Yes, they were really good. I think you will enjoy them. Let me know about the girls. Hope you are well and see you at the lodge my friend.
@@TheCooknShare Dave my friend, will do on the girls, I know they have not had any greek food, no real greek places here to eat
You know, I have never marinated anything. Then again I am not a good cook, Ijust read do my best then eat. I think I can manage an hour though - while waiting for my Cusinart Grill to heat up, it takes ages :- ).
Hi James. Thanks so much. Marinating really does help with flavour and tenderizes the meat. So good. Half an hour will make a big difference. Yes, some grills take so long. Hope you enjoy this one. Let us know.
Please add the translation by arabic chef ... Thank you
Hi. I can't find the Arabic Chef?
Recipe what kind of meat,,shoulder butt.
That would do or pork tenderloin.
Dave, I'm not getting all your vids.
Hi Carole. I wonder what's going on. Do you have the notification bell checked off and clicked all notifications? Just wondering as sometimes people forget to do that. Let me know. Thanks for letting me know, Carole.
@@TheCooknShare Your right, seems your channel was removed from my subscriptions. Not the first time this has happened. It's happened 4 times before with other channels. I re subscribed.
Wonderful, Carole. At least we got to the bottom of it. I don't know what they do.
I am glad you are trying to share Greek recipes, but this is not quite Greek... Greeks do NOT use rosemary very much if at all, and thyme is also not the most widely used, and when it is used, not usually in combination with oregano.
Here is a traditional version I found that is almost exactly as my dear departed mom, and the rest of my extended family makes.

Thanks again for the video... good try.
