    As a (soon to be former) lifelong A’s fan from the East Bay, if they hypothetically move to Sacramento permanently, I’d likely still support. It’s not totally “local,” but still close enough, and still in NorCal.
    With Vegas on the other hand, I’m totally done with them.

      As a Giants fan, I’d think Sacramento is a fine place and at least is within reasonable driving distance to east bay fans, but the TV market (or any other media market) may not support the A’s enough when competing with the Kings. I think the A’s/Giants rivalry is good for both teams, and Sacramento could maintain that. I doubt the rivalry could survive a move to Las Vegas.

      Yeah, but I'm sure over the years, the Giants have done a much better job marketing themselves in Sac over the A's, so the young generation these days is probably mostly GIants fans. Heck, there is even a Giants store deep in the East Bay in Walnut Creek. So much for "territorial rights." haha
      Of course, the Giants do what they can for their own viability, and it's the A's own ineptutide that caused this.
      It might still take some time for the Sac locals to convert, but perhaps simply having a team in their own backyard might quickly help them change allegiances.

    IDEALLY, we know BEFORE the opening day if the A's are going to be at the Coliseum beyond 2024. If 2024 is really going to be the last year in Oakland then the sooner everybody knows the better. Fans can decide whether to boycott the team or go for a couple of games or whatever makes them feel the best. The WORST case scenario is that we don't know until towards the end of the season. MLB is probably going to start putting LOTS of pressure on Fisher to come up with an answer. It should be possible to get a quick answer since the number of options are limited.

    If the A’s ratings are so bad right now, I don’t see why nbc wouldn’t be itching to renegotiate for a smaller deal in Sacramento. You factor in that Sacramento won’t cost as much to play in because of rental fees for the stadium, larger attendance with higher average ticket value, and general cost of business being cheaper in Sacramento. Nevermind the fact that they’ll be in a market excited to have them with city leadership and private investors rolling out the red carpet for them

    • @hoapres
      @hoapres 4 месяца назад +1

      Losing the $70M annual revenue for 3 years is a big deal but it isn't that big of a deal to prevent the move. IF Oakland city government could make a RATIONAL decision then it could get a nice increase in Coliseum rent along with getting an option to buy out Fisher's interest at the Coliseum site. If Oakland insists on goals such as keeping the A's name, guaranteed expansion team then the A's just leave at the end of 2024.

    • @bv32ification
      @bv32ification 4 месяца назад +1

      @@hoapres the A’s can renegotiate their contract with nbc if they play in Sacramento which would be advantageous for nbc because they don’t have to pay as much and it’s good for the A’s because it makes Sacramento a monetarily comparable alternative to Oakland and take away any of oaklands leverage in lease extension negotiations. The sale of the coliseum site is a non factor because both sides are motivated to make it happen. It will come down to who wants the A’s more and the only reason Oakland is even entertaining extending the A’s lease is because of the believed leverage they think they have in renegotiating a lucrative deal for the city. Sacramento will bend over backwards to prove itself as a viable city for another pro sports team and will do everything to use this opportunity to do so

    • @hoapres
      @hoapres 4 месяца назад

      @@bv32ification For me it's just RUN THE NUMBERS and KEEP EMOTION out of it. Give Fisher a lease extension and TAKE THE MONEY AND RUN. There is $70M for 3 years being $210M at stake. No doubt the A's can get a TV deal in Sacramento let's assume $40M for 3 years being $120M. So there is an opportunity cost of $90M to move to Sacramento with regards to the TV revenue assuming my numbers are accurate. Fisher is likely willing to agree to a nice rent increase to keep the TV revenue. The A's are going to be COMPLETE CRAP as long as they are in Oakland (and likely to be CRAP in Vegas with Fisher as owner as well). The A's won't be a REAL MLB team in Oakland but GREEN HARD COLD CASH is EXACTLY what Oakland NEEDS RIGHT NOW.

      @@letsgowalk It's a nice story but that's the problem it's only a story and not the truth. Fisher and Oakland were not even close to a deal.

    Why Howard Terminal NEVER was meant to be.
    1. You had a RICH Republican Jew that NEVER gave a damn about owning a baseball team. HT was a PURE real estate deal. Fisher wanted to become a BIG SHOT player in Real Estate.
    2. Oakland's city government being a bunch of mostly blacks seeing that they have a chance to stick it to the man. We are going to get affordable housing, community benefits packages and a bucket load of other freebees.
    3 Thao being an Asian mayor trying to figure out how to get everyone who is NOT an Asian OUT of Oakland to make Oakland part of the Greater Chinese coprosperity sphere.
    Flame me all you want but it is the truth.

      @@user-ih7hq3es1s It's not being racist. It's just the awful truth. Fisher never said much publicly but if one listened to the statements of Oakland city council throughout 2021 and 2022 then it became evident that Oakland was looking for a LOT of freebies.

      @@brycelynds3768 It may be BS but my crystal ball has been pretty damn good. 1. I predicted a 50-112 season back in April 2023. OK. That was sheer luck with regards to getting it right. 2. More important, I predicted before the start of the season that either by April or at the latest the All Star Break that the A's would announce a move to Vegas. Sorry, that's the way it is folks.

      @@hoapres LMFAO man you predicted one of the worst rosters in history to have one of the worst records. bro you're worse than the guy on twitter who was bragging that rooker was an all star when every team gets one. A's also don't have public support in vegas, woulnd't own their stadium, would still be on revenue sharing with the smallest ballpark in the league, and can;'t figure out how to build there. What a crysyal ball you got... you're a fortuneteller. FOH
