Russell Brand as a practical joke on live BBC Radio called a man named Andrew Sauchs and left a message on his answering machine saying he had sex with Sauchs' grand daughter. Do not be fooled by this man he is a hypocrite that does not have a clue.
Maria Marchese If you pay attention to the body language he expresses here, he is actually overwhelming Maher and being condescending, as he has the upper hand, which is speed in communicating, while Maher has to rely on question-cards. Narcissists (who suffer from an actual addiction to their own SELF) almost always come off as genuine to people that don’t know them. Their sweeping charm is the first in their arsenal and unless you slight them, they come off as extremely likeable. That is because, deep down they are desperately looking for attention and admiration they never got as children. Simply, Russel’s brand (see what I did there) of narcissistic pursuits of recent times has been a shift away from chasing fame with all its pitfalls and turned towards a search for meaning through spirituality and communion. The way in which way he is trying to hone his immense ego is actually laudable, for the most part.
His appearance on this show was a performance in its own right, never seem someone so flamboyant and articulate while sounding so genuine and "unrehearsed". Best guest Bill has had in a while

Yes he’s an amazing person, not because of natural intelligence and perceptiveness but how he has developed other less innate traits to harness his raw talent. most of us like this who think quickly and non-linearlly but in patterns and connections just get frustrated, defeated and never develop the patience, discipline and communication skills to contribute to discourse in a meaningful and practical way. it helps that he developed his platform in the entertainment industry because most other industries weed out creativity rather than elevate it. He also finds a way to use his comedic talents to make it easier to introduce challenging ideas to resistant psyches.
So glad we as a society didn't lose a bright personality and wonderful mind like Russell's to drugs. So many talented people are snatched away too quickly by drugs both in the spotlight and our daily lives. Stay encouraged and clean.
It is great he's still alive and kicking. I feel that drugs are demonised, morphine is still used as a medicine worldwide. Drug users are demonised too when the sad truth is the desperation sadness or emptiness that drives them to there escape of choice. The war on drugs has been a way to enforce authoritarian views through government and media. Both of which should have been looking at the causes and solutions not just the criminalisation of usually damaged people it should have been treated as a health issue as is alcoholism. I say this as a reformed addict 25 years clean and self employed.
TheGodEmperorofMankind while he probably would admit openly to being ego-driven and insecure, I disagree with you about your comment. He’s not being wordy to impress everyone. He undoubtedly IS tempering his word choice to keep it more conventional and comprehensible. Some people just like to be precise with language, which is actually also a way to be highly creative. Some people just have a love of language, basically.
TheGodEmperorofMankind he’s also clearly very creative and passionate about being entertaining.... you’re judging him by some rubric that isn’t valid or entirely relevant. Have you thought about the fact that his creative word choice makes him engaging to listen to for many people? He keeps himself challenged with word play, and I actually really like it. It’s not overly complex, it’s not out of place when merely socializing. He’s intelligent and interesting, ffs. But I would bet money that he’s holding back his inclination to do so even more- because of needing to keep his listeners engaged and not lose them with words (or concepts) way over their head. He’s patient and conscious of this. You can tell by his focus, pacing, thoughtfulness, etc. (Most of his vocabulary is interesting but understandable for me; I’ve learned a few definitions by looking up the words I don’t recognize. There’s nothing wrong with that, and I actually find it refreshing, and wish that were more common in our lives.) He’s definitely in the top couple percentile of intelligence, whether you like how he carries himself or not. But speaking of how he carries himself, he’s also incredibly open about being narcissistic (openly admits this, and also delves into his life as an addict- spiritually unfulfilled, and hungry for validation), makes jokes about that (calls himself out), and would tell you himself that he’s driven by his ego. In fact, this makes him a lot more down to earth than most celebrities or even likely many of the personalities that are drawn to or live in academia. (He’s not trying to be a Nobel prize winner, not sure how or why he’d be compared to one, but, okay) He uses entertainment to reach people who wouldn’t otherwise readily understand him; he uses word play to challenge himself creatively and intellectually; he speaks about issues of substance; he openly admits to character flaws and shortcomings; he actually does (clearly) have a mission to share a lot of genuinely deep and meaningful thoughts and reflections with the world at large. He’s actually pretty freaking great, for all of those reasons... maybe you haven’t noticed the subjects he covers. But, really, why should he be compared to a “real orator in his field?” What makes a “real” orator, and who says he’s trying to be one? Lastly...His field, technically, is comedy; I think if anyone in comedy could qualify as also being an orator, it could be him.
TheGodEmperorofMankind hahaha. Sure, I’m invested. He’s putting content out there and having discussions which center around topics of real substance, spiritual importance. I really appreciate that he does this. Also........ “pretentious” is definitely not a fact, that’s an opinion, too. Peace out

Andrew, last I checked the Bible doesn't claim Jesus saved mankind from a robot uprising. He is called a "savior", but really, from what ? The "original sin" his "dad" is supposed to have forced us to be born with ? Gee thanks. It's like Microsoft writing shit software and then expecting our undying love every time they release a security patch. No thanks !
VballGod 79 sure we would. Ive entered meditative states in yoga where the back of my eyes is cloaked in fire, hounds etc other time brighter happier sightings. I know im not alone in this too. If myself and those I know can reach states like this its highly likely those in the past who actually designed these methods of yoga had similar visions. Also, Dante is responcible for the modern version of Hell. Before the writing of Dantes Inferno and renecance paintings based on the epic poem Hell was hardly known as we know it today
This interview shows literally everything I love about RB. He is such a funny and helpfully introspective intellectual. He has been talking about the addictions and ailments of society SPOT ON for years. THIS is the sickness of society he speaks of - literally the primary one.
I love how Russell always talks so well and is able to say exactly what is wrong with our country and world, that the host doesn’t know what to ask or say next!
I'm so glad that Russell got clean. I knew his sharp was merely dulled by being strung out, and it all came out as a crazy amalgam of literary and experiential prowess. Now that his mind is clearer, brother is SO SPOT ON! If he wrote his book after getting clean, I'm buying it.
Right, cuz there's no such thing as relapsing....People can say all the time that they're "clean", even times when it's clear that they're high as a kite. I'm just glad it is completely apparent that he's off the poison, and not just claiming it.
Love ur passion and honesty Russel. Oneness within, means no one goes without. Because we flow with love - the healing, uniting, beauty and peace of this empowering energy
I'm not sure if that was Russel Brand talking or Shakespeare after he experimented with caffeine, marijuana, LSD, and heroin. Maybe they are the same person.
He seems nuttier than squirrel shit, but damn if Brand isn't spot on. The world is filled with people filling in blanks of their lives with 'vices'. Drugs, food, alcohol, sex, the internet, even work for the really fucked up. I won't call religion a 'vice' in the sense that when deployed properly, it CAN be that 'placebo' he describes for some people to find a stable path and purpose and life they never had. But like most things, when it is abused, it becomes one. Good stuff.
VballGod 79 what have you accomplished purely by the virtue of being atheist that would guide you to this argument that religious folks do not face life.If you look at real intellectuals who have contributed heavily to the betterment of human society almost all of them had been spiritual, if not religious. If you cannot appreciate religion for its good then people are going to be uninterested about any thing you have say about it,of course apart from the already existing echo chamber where every person thinks they are too intelligent to actually read and learn from history not only about the horrors the religions brought but also the benefits it brought for the general populace.
Being spiritual it's not the same as being religious and, at least in my experience, seems to have a trend to be quite the opposite. But I agree, there are a lot of religious people who face life and just use their religion to use as a second limb when they fall too short in their lives. If only they just used religion in that only way, I would even consider being a religious person.
Russell Brand has a tendency to come across as "over the top". As a result I worry that a lot of people may have missed what he was saying, and why it truly is a stinging slap in the face for "establishment leftists" like Bill Maher. What he is trying to point out is that a candidate like Clinton -- someone who is "antithetical to the basic interests of average Americans . . . but at least safe" is the exact tool that keeps the entrenched 1% in power. As such, she would actually be a WORSE candidate than Trump. With Trump, at least everyone has woken up to the fact that we have a problem. If Clinton was president, we would still have very much the same problems. Everything that Trump has TRIED to do has either failed completely, or is facing so much resistance that it can make little headway and will be reversed the second a less extreme rightwing lunatic is put into power. With Clinton, everyone would still be snoring and sleepwalking through their increasingly shitty life. You cannot fix a problem if you are sound asleep. First you have to wake up. Then you have to recognize how serious the problem truly is. And only THEN can you start doing something to fix it. I wont go so far as to call Maher a shill for the status quo oligarchy. He might be... Ive had my suspicions for years... but I cant prove that suspicion one way or the other. What I **CAN** say is that he is completely wrong in suggesting that progressives made a mistake by not voting for Clinton. Some progressives may be rethinking their decision but for me at least, I stll think that Trump was a better choice. In actual performance, the first 9 months of the Trump presidency has done wonders for political awareness in the US. Sure, the culture wars may be raging hotter than ever, but that is a sign that the comatose 66% are starting to wake up, and take sides. In my view, at least, that is a step in the right direction. It should go without saying that I -- like Brand -- view Trump as the most contemptible of fools, and possibly the worst major politician in US history. When people look in a mirror and tell themselves that they helped allow that guy to get into office, they must surely recognise what a terrible thing that says about themselves, and about their country. But like the Michael Jackson song says: "if you want to make the world a better place, take a look at yourself and make a change". Until you take a good hard look at yourself in the mirror and admit the problems, you arent ever going to get better. A bad hangover is exactly what Americans deserve. This is no time to be arguing about what choices you made last night . . . . . its time to start cleaning up the mess and getting your head together once again.
I've recently discovered his channel, he's the exact best parts of revolutionary, conservative, thoughtful and kind but unflinching in his truthfulness.
I must admit I was impressed by him, especially now that he's sober.
He's been sober for like 14 years or something..
SWLinPHX 14 years sober.
One of the best speeches on addiction I've ever heard..... in a short amount of time. A true drop the mic 🎤 moments.
This interview shows literally everything I love about RB. He is such a funny and helpfully introspective intellectual. He has been talking about the addictions and ailments of society SPOT ON for years. THIS is the sickness of society he speaks of - literally the primary one.
Jesus he's kind of a poet!
@I love 5G and the aliens that are coming back. you’re still subscribed to him
Wow! What a speech and so eloquent 😊
Russell Brand can cut through the BS and point out the inherent truths in record time. Brilliant!
2:06 I love how Russell just weaved that web of words right around Bills head
Thankful his mind survived, he is helping a lot of people.
Heroin is very relaxing..too relaxing..you let go of your life in the end. Gold!
there's a reason why these chairs has wheels lmffo
lol
Chairs HAVE wheels. Chair HAS wheels.
heatherfits
These chairs don't have wheels for nothing!
In 2017, Jesus comes as a self-help author in pleather pants on an atheist talk show.
jerrysizzler44 he even has a song called “I am Jesus”
I'm just so delighted to see someone clarify their qualifications and not overstate their expertize on a tv show. Props Russell Brand
Russell Brand is brilliant.
Hard to believe he was with Katy Perry, he's on a totally different wavelength.
I'm not sure if that was Russel Brand talking or Shakespeare after he experimented with caffeine, marijuana, LSD, and heroin. Maybe they are the same person.
Jon Yen he was doing some spoken word poetry shit. I loved it
lol
Just listen to his word idiot 👆
Those drugs weren't around in 1500s england. Opium came in the 1800s.
VC YT caffeine, marijuana, heroine,....
3 out of 4 ain't bad,....well they maybe are bad. Maybe
Good stuff.
It's an infantile placebo in the end and allows adults to pretend and to not learn to face life.
+K Matsu you missed his point entirely.
Love love Russell. Thanks bill!
I've recently discovered his channel, he's the exact best parts of revolutionary, conservative, thoughtful and kind but unflinching in his truthfulness. Spiritual but also accepting in others beliefs. Speaks of serious issues with just the right amount of levity to not depress you but give you hope that there are others that feel the way you do.
I would watch a whole movie of just Maher and Brand
I absolutely adore Russell Brand. Such a genuine lovely man.
I know Brand practices mindfulness, but he is the most "present" person I've ever seen. He seems so aware and attentive.
"These chairs have wheels on them for a reason!" Love this guy! Oh, and he's absolutely right.
Brand him Russell.. amazing how Bill test him about his horrible past but Russell gracefully set Bill ass in his place
holy fuck I'll never see Rusell brand with the same eyes again... I didn't like him before and now he's on a philosophical crusade, good luck mate! keep going.
Watch his comedy special. Its pure gold. Hes a lot to take in but his message is clear and tragically relatable to most people
He's been like this for a while, and he's getting better at it as time goes on.
I can't remember the movie I first saw him in but he seemed like a dopey dumb mother fucker. It's not until you see him outside of American movies that you realize how articulate he is.
Holy Crap . This man is awesome. You can actually feel the love in each word he says. Love him.
Incredibly articulate
Wish I had half his words. Wonderful.
Russell's badass
And Maher's punkass.
I could listen ta him talk all god damn day. It's nice to see a realist who has the passion to change the world for the better.
Wrong. Wise man.
One can be wise man bad ass...
Russel only confuses me. Sometimes I love him, sometimes I hate him, sometimes I think he is an idiot, sometimes a genious. The only person in the world that totally confuses me.
He is dynamically eloquent. That is a gift.
I never knew Russell Brand was so hilarious!
he is
There’s a reason he’s been on the Big Fat Quiz multiple times, and has at least one stand up show. :)
I never knew Russell Brand, but he is hilarious!
Watch the big fat quiz episodes with him, they're hilarious!
Long live the the Goth Detectives! :)
I could listen to him talk foreverrrr.
Damn Russell blew me away. Really impressed by what he is saying and so true.
Thank-you Mr. Brand for your book. I just finished it this afternoon and passed it on to my daughter.
Russell Brand is ahead of his time.
Who could not appreciate these two minds together. ⚡️⚡️⚡️
It's a good thing that Russell Brand speaks so quickly, cuz after Bill would ask a question Russell would have like 5 seconds before Bill would interrupt him again, holy shit let the guy speak.
Two bright star intellects sharing a space is a rarity....both hold a sense of maturity and respect for each other. Friendship and fellowship.
Damn. I can see why people join cults now. What a perfect mixture of charisma, intellect, and humor all bundled in a pretty package.
Russell!!!!! How I enjoy your appearances everywhere. Your refreshing candor, intelligence, and humor is so fun to encounter.
When Russell talks, he sounds like he's performing in some kind of Broadway play about drug addiction or reciting song lyrics. He should actually write and sing a song about it, lol. It reminds me of the song You Got Trouble from the Music Man. Somebody needs to make an autotune remix from this video.
And we say why can't we stop the flow of drugs to the USA? Because the rich make them rich~!
reminds me of the song Trouble from the Music Man
Two of my favourite minds together ... BLISS!
Damm, Russell is fluent as he speaks his mind. Very articulate
Russell Brand is such a delight❤
What an intellectual and equally funny man! Love Russell Brand
Russell is so awesomely outrageously eloquent
Bill got schooled by Brand who is a million times more informed on leaders who represent the donors and not the people. A concept that Bill clearly has issue with
to say he has a way with words would be an understatement
Russell just earned 56.78 pounds of respect, loved it
Wild Andes well certainly not sir. Are you?
I am as confused as you are ...
Deport your ass please
carolina diaz what ever country your in legally or illegally.... deport your self
Ex Machina Nah
Shine, Russell, shine!!! 🌞
Right On Russell Brand!
"They are governed by forces I don't entirely understand. As you are sometimes" 😂 That last line was brilliant and a mastermind piece. Bill never saw that coming 😂. his intellect and the speed of his thought and articulation is incredible
Russell is gorgeous!!!!
Russell Brand as a practical joke on live BBC Radio called a man named Andrew Sauchs and left a message on his answering machine saying he had sex with Sauchs' grand daughter. Do not be fooled by this man he is a hypocrite that does not have a clue.
Nairobi Dino What does that have to do with him being gorgeous???
Maybe gorgeous on the outside but maybe not on the inside. He is touring USA but us in the UK know him hardly as gorgeous.
Nai, you a copy pasting dumbass hater. Jelly brah?
Not many people can overshadow Bill like this his charisma is out of this world
all we are saying, is give Bees a Chance
Give Peas a Chance
These two really have a special connection and it's a joy to watch. I don't know if you can consider them geniuses but the level of intelligence possessed by each of them is remarkable.
LOVE is the DRUG for me!
BILL wants to know from the brilliant HUMANITARIAN Russel
''whats wrong with sex addiction'' DOY. he aint no woman! walk a mile in MY SHOES Mate.

Oh boy, another Bernie supporter living in the past. Get a grip "matey"
Obvious genius HUGE fan🤔🤗
Guru Russell the only person on the planet with the intelligence wit and graciousness to combat human ignorance fear selfishness and greed - well done that man - one love
this dude's a kind of speech genius or something. How can he just freestyle his way through these sentences.
You are a beautiful human Russell. I have only just started watch your channel but wow. I have been battling anxiety for a bit now to say it's tricky is an understatement but to know there a good humans out there gives me hope!!. Keep up the great work.
Bill really lost control of this one and I'm so glad he did. Brand is a dynamo and always has been.
I could listen to him talk for hours. Fascinating person.
Aw, Russel's a beekeeper, I love bees.
Bill & Russell too cute together. Love what they bring out in each other -so loving, a side you don’t always see in Bill. ❤️u Bill. Bills playful side is so fun & he moderates Beautifully. Shows his skill to tune in to Russell to playfully refocus. Great panel ❤️❤️❤️
If Russell had a white, middle class spoken manner, accent, and appearance, he’d be taken so much more seriously and heralded as a great social commentator - he speaks a lot of sense with great insight and oversight!
He meant American, not white i believe. He acts a bit dopey but if someone doesn't take him seriously after hearing him speak then they are deaf as shit.
I like that he isn’t like THAT.
Jack Pilcher May lol he has a white middle ( maybe middle-lower ) class accent. You mean if he had a posh upper classy sort of voice?
Governed by forces that I don't quite understand.... as you are sir!!!
Russel Brand is unbeatable.
Didn't know him and from the look of him disliked him, but he is fucking brilliant!
