Maybe the clans figured out the barrel length hack. Example an L42 88mm v an L50 88mm, the muzzle energy difference is pretty nuts. Or maybe PGI still sucks as a dev. I played MWO from closed Beta still season 7 of sol7. TTB your a good man, I love your content, and big stompy robots, it's the only reason I'm still a sub.
You're right, 800m for IS AC2s _does_ feel low, especially for ones with such a massive Targeting Computer. Maybe they need to be buffed, or at least the bigger TCs.
0:42 It bothers me how short ranged the weapons are in every mechwarrior game I've played I mean these are weapon platforms and weapons that would be outperformed with tanks and weapons from the 60's Hell I think that might be too advanced for the way weapons are showcased in game.
In real life, velocity increases the energy a bullet has hitting a target. So, an ac2 would be hitting more like an ac10. Too bad that doesn’t apply here.
@@MoreEvilThanYahweh similar goes for angled armour plates or open missile tubes. Guess it would be unplayable if missiles exploded in their tubes, launchers wouldn't work anymore when the tube is molten or projectiles are redirected by angled surfaces
@@MoreEvilThanYahweh I never understood this trend in Mechwarrior games. On tabletop, the developers repeatedly explained that the short ranges were simply so that the game fit on a normal-sized table. Yet for some unexplained reasons, all video games follow the same thing without any sense whatsoever.
That's _sort of_ true. Faster, more damaging bullets are often lighter, smaller bullets; a rifle .223 versus a pistol .45, but then you also have rounds that are both bigger _and_ faster, like a .50 BMG. In any event I agree, the way that AC rounds and range in the game doesn't completely make sense, which is probably a reflection of tabletop mechanics and in turn game balance considerations. There aren't really the equivalent of sniper rifles in the game, where you have rounds and cannons that are both big _and_ fast simultaneously. Of course if they did that, the game would probably be much heavier on the sniper side of things than it currently is.
No hate or anything. But what is the point of farming? Does it just give you a better score? The most I've seen of farming is just people taking there time killing an afk player.
I'd be inclined to chop one ton off the TC for more ammo if you're running out, maybe another for a BAP. It's still ridiculously quick, and you'd get instant target data even at extreme ranges.

They don't suck, it's from the tabletop. They have done a lot to balance it without completly ignoring it but it's still problematic

5:41 me mad cat my brother is atlas💀
That's about the speed all AC rounds should be moving
I love that Lightning Fast Dakka! Gonna try this for sure.
Gentleman and a scholar. love the connoisseur builds .
9m meme build does 4560... this is obviously much more usable. 2nd fastest "useable" projectile build in game?
Whats the point of playing Clan anymore? Seriously. These quirks are fucking dumb.
Lightning Faste Dakka! I might try a variant based on this with LBX2 and some LPPCs - I have no idea how poor it'll be, but *SCIENCE MUST BE DONE*

Projectile velocity should affect effective range damage since Projectiles are faster and fly longer distance
Lightening fast DAKKAAAAAAAAAAA!!!
Yeesh. Any faster and they'll be hitting before you pull the trigger.
Shame not to have a bit more range to really take advantage of the lightning fast dakka!

It's about as nonsensical as autocannons having less range in proportion to how large their calibers are

@@osiris4457 Even with scaled up distances, it doesn't change the fact that AC2s outrange AC5s and so on just because

Its basically a light gauss at this point but without the warmup or cooldown lmao
