Hi Phil I like your review do you this laptop would be good for running DJ programs like Serato? Got a nice controller for my Birthday and don't have a windows pc and can't spend a lot of money.
Hi, yes, this laptop meets the minimum requirements for the Serato DJ Pro software if set to performance mode. That said, it's unclear how hard the software would push this laptop's processor. I only note this because of the potential for fan noise when the CPU is using more processing power, so I'm not sure how that might impact your decision. Most recommendations I've seen for Serato indicate using a budget gaming laptop that has a more powerful CPU and GPU. Of course, "budget" when it comes to gaming is relative and usually means in the $600-$1000 range, but a second hand one or model that's one or two years old may provide more affordable options. Hi, while it's not listed in the specs, the headphone jack on this model is TRRS and supports both mic input and headphone out. I tested this out with a 4-pin integrated mic gaming headset plugged directly into the analog port, and it does pickup audio from the mic on the headphones. For reference, the headset I used to test this functionality is the Logitech G Pro X, which I reviewed previously here: ruclips.net/video/8HgScbQy8O0/видео.html
I HATE THIS LAPTOP!!! THE SCREEN FALLS OUT OF IT, I only had it for six months and the screen fell straight out and smashed on the keyboard, And it's a common problem if you read reviews online. Now after spending $540 at Walmart for this crap I have to go through the hassle of mailing it in at my own expense to the warranty place and waiting weeks for it to be repaired. It worked great at first then it falls apart, I have bought way cheaper laptops and never had this problem.
Dudeee! I bought this laptop and didn’t get the warranty because of how expensive it was smh. It worked fine for like 2 months and now my screen is just completely black. And I basically have to pay the same price of buying a new laptop to fix this
@@kynyaralewis8226 Did you buy it from Walmart ? Because I didn't pay any extra for the warranty? It came for a year with the laptop. I went on BBB and filed a complaint and got mine fixed. Great review, thanks! just curious, where did you find the specs of the m.2 ssd expansion slot (SATA 1TB)? i couldn't find on their support website or crucial memory finder.
He didn't. I screenshot his demo at the point of installing the m.2 SSD, zoomed in to read the ssd details, and it was a Hynix NvME, not SATA. I've tried 2 NvMEs (one was a Hynix) in my identical model laptop and they didn't recognize. I doubt if his did either, since it's a SATA interface. I have ordered a SATA SSD now to try again.
Please help me my laptop (the same model) everytime I turn it on the gateway logo will appear for a split second then disappear with no windows logo boot up and it just shows a black screen I don't know what to do
Hm, have you done any upgrades like replacing the SSD or adding an additional one? Try booting the laptop into safemode, as soon as you see the logo appear, press and hold the F8 key. Then select safe mode with command prompt and see if you can get Windows to load. If you can, try performing a system restore, by searching "Reset this PC" (🔎in the taskbar along the bottom of the screen).
Bought mine less than a year, am presently facing the same problem, it goes on and off without loading when I tried to power it on. Please what is the solution.. thanks
Thank you for the review! Does anyone know if you can use this with cricut design space? I just need a simple laptop for that. It should work because it has a USB port and is windows but I just wanted to check.
This laptop meets the minimum requirements for Cricut Design Space, so it should work (Windows® 8 or later*, CPU: Intel™ Dual-Core, RAM: 4GB, 2 GB free disk space, USB port or Bluetooth, and Display: Minimum 1024px x 768px screen resolution), though I personally haven't verified this.
'hello . i bought a m.2 disk to upgrade to 500gb the memory, but the bios do not recognise it, how can i do its a pnys ssdcs3030 m2 500gb 2280 nvme pcie
This laptop will not recognize NVMe m.2 drives in the expansion slot. The connector is only compatible with SATA interface m.2 drives, like this one: geni.us/nSTKB [Amazon Affiliate Product Link] The only way to get the NVMe m.2 SSD that you have to work with the laptop is to use an external enclosure that would plug in via USB, like this one: geni.us/HHwhWt [Amazon Affiliate Product Link]
It's possible something internally has failed, the battery, SSD, RAM etc. It's not possible to tell without opening up the laptop and checking each component individually for the cause.

You'll need to download the ISO directly from Microsoft: www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10 and use the media creation tool. I haven't done it in a while, but I think it'll ask you for a Windows key (or the software will find it in the registry automatically) in order to identify the build for your specific machine.
@@ReviewedByPhil , I've already downloaded the windows 10 iso. Then the windows 11, then went to asus website, and downloaded the drivers for the model of my laptop. The OEM version from Asus, has an option to download the OEM version, but it has alot pop pop ups. And useless apps.
No, this laptop does not have any SIM slot for a cellular data connection. Since it is a laptop and not a tablet/mobile device it does not support Android OS type apps like Google Play store or the RUclips app. It will require Windows PC type applications to be installed, for example, the desktop version of the Google Chrome web browser. Windows natively supports "apps" that can be installed via the Microsoft Store where you can find some supported apps like Netflix, though most streaming services, like RUclips, can simply be accessed over a web browser by visiting their URL.

Yes, the latest version is Office 365 which is cloud based so the apps are continuously updated automatically, however, you do need internet access and a monthly subscription to use it.
Those budget laptop brands were built to last after one year warranty expires. The display driver update will make screen go black, I have seen 90% of those display went black and keyboard failed with in four months.
Less than 20hrs and it’s having major issues. It doesn’t even power on now. When I was using it, I noticed the fan ran constantly. I’m assuming something burnt out on the inside. Sticking with Mac from here on out.
@@tablesaltgames I ended up replacing the fan myself and it works well now. However, I ruined the the micro sd slot after taking it apart. No laptop should come like this after purchase.
It will depend on your settings. I'm sure if you turn battery saver on and reduce the brightness level all the way as well as processing power you might be able to get 10 hours of "off-the-wall" time on a full charge, though it's unclear how much of that time would be idle vs active usage.
I am looking for a new editing laptop for my RUclips (but am on a tight budget). Would this laptop be good for this? I edit 1080p on Filmora x. My current laptop is being held together with duct tape and I have to export 2 minute segments at a time or it will freeze and overheat 😂 so easily anything is an upgrade but I don't want to waist $450. Thank you in advance! 💙
Hm, I use Adobe Premiere CC for video editing, and I haven't used this laptop for that because I know the performance will not be that great. I've found that video editing software tends to crash on lighter weight systems even at 1080p, so generally when recommending a laptop for this purpose I would stick to one spec'd for gaming because it needs three things to run smoothly (and not take forever to export video): a decent CPU, a good graphics card, and at least 16 GB of RAM. I don't know that you're going to find something like that at a similar price point as this laptop (they generally start at about $800 and go up from there). However, if you're willing to go the desktop PC route, you can get a decent one for video processing in the $500 range (tower only, no monitor ☹). My suggestion is if you're on a tight budget, try picking up a secondhand gaming laptop (released within the last 2 years) for a decent price. This will also futureproof you for if or when you decide you want to start working with higher resolution video like 2K or 4K.
@@ReviewedByPhil I'm currently purchasing a laptop for an employee that will use the laptop for Adobe Photoshop, Excel, Microsoft Word, Confluence (web app), and Trello (web app). Do you have a laptop you'd recommend that is super low cost but can handle those programs (Adobe Photoshop, more specifically).
I guess it depends on what you need it for. It's perfectly fine for creating office documents like Powerpoint presentations, Excel spreadsheets, and word processing. I've even used it for some light photo editing in Adobe Photoshop, but if you need to run high-powered engineering application like AutoCAD for work or school, then I would say that it is not powerful enough for that.

Hm, I guess the main concern would be resting the laptop on your lap, as this could cause a first-degree burn. Other than recommending that it only be used on a flat, smooth surface to allow the heat the dissipate, my only other suggestion would be to look into getting a laptop pad/stand with a fan, like this one: geni.us/gHyjL [Amazon Affiliate Product Link]
@@ReviewedByPhil so you think I should return it for a different one , got mines from walmart too, and thanks for the information on the link about the laptop pad/stand ...
Yes
Can I use it for Adobe premiere Pro and Photoshop? I mean is it good for video editing
I wonder the same thing, do you know already if it's good? ✌🏽
My computer is supposed to be restarting but it is just spinning, what do I do?
Usually, you can "soft reset" by pressing and holding the power button until the laptop shutsdown.
I just got this laptop and when I plug in the charger it doesn't work.. can you help?
How do I make it faster? It's running so slow
Does the 3.5mm port support just headphones or a headset (headphones and mic)? The symbol just shows a headphone.
Hi, while it's not listed in the specs, the headphone jack on this model is TRRS and supports both mic input and headphone out. I tested this out with a 4-pin integrated mic gaming headset plugged directly into the analog port, and it does pickup audio from the mic on the headphones. For reference, the headset I used to test this functionality is the Logitech G Pro X, which I reviewed previously here: ruclips.net/video/8HgScbQy8O0/видео.html
how do you disable the function key? mine is other way around i cant find the settings its very annoying
I will send you links if you need help. They ended up fixing and sending mine back within a week. I don't know why this video isn't mentioning this very common problem when it is so prevalent.
Thanks for this video its amazing
Thanks for the compliment!
Gateway is the G.O.A.T.
I have this exact same laptop and it went completely black today I keep restarting it and it still black ☹️
when did you get it?
@@ReviewedByPhil awesome! Thank you so much!!
'hello . i bought a m.2 disk to upgrade to 500gb the memory, but the bios do not recognise it, how can i do
its a pnys ssdcs3030 m2 500gb 2280 nvme pcie
This laptop will not recognize NVMe m.2 drives in the expansion slot. The connector is only compatible with SATA interface m.2 drives, like this one: geni.us/nSTKB [Amazon Affiliate Product Link] The only way to get the NVMe m.2 SSD that you have to work with the laptop is to use an external enclosure that would plug in via USB, like this one: geni.us/HHwhWt [Amazon Affiliate Product Link]
My Chromebook gateway gwtn116 won't start after turning it off of shutdown or sleep..is it broke??!! How to turn back on. Only had 1 year
It's possible something internally has failed, the battery, SSD, RAM etc. It's not possible to tell without opening up the laptop and checking each component individually for the cause.
Hey Phil are there any boi's updates for the model with the Ryzen 3 3300u?
i had bought this today and in the first 1 hour of setting it up . my screen started to flicker . not getting this again idk what to do now
Have you reached out to Gateway or Walmart for tech support?
Do you restore windows from this device? Or cloud download?
How are the keys? Are they smooth and easy to use or are the stiff and hard to press?
Theyre easy to press
How do i unlock 1 lock key my powerbis on and acreeen is black
My keyboard has stopped working, anybody else with the same issue?
where is the windows iso for the laptop. The laptop web camera doesnt work for me. A fresh windows 10( to eliminate pop up adds) Ive upgraded to windows 11, but i do want the windows 10 oem for this machine. I could really could use the help! great Video!
How to fix the power button?
Question 1: does is support a nano sim slot Question 2: does is come with built in google play store and google youtube?
No, this laptop does not have any SIM slot for a cellular data connection. Since it is a laptop and not a tablet/mobile device it does not support Android OS type apps like Google Play store or the RUclips app. It will require Windows PC type applications to be installed, for example, the desktop version of the Google Chrome web browser. Windows natively supports "apps" that can be installed via the Microsoft Store where you can find some supported apps like Netflix, though most streaming services, like RUclips, can simply be accessed over a web browser by visiting their URL.
Hola!!!..
Does the M.2 SSD Expansion Slot have to be SATA or can it be something else like PCIe NVMe?
SATA only
@@alf5778 Lie. It can be mvme yes friend, don't talk shit.
Is there anyway to add more storage to the computer
Hello. Does it have the backlit keyboard feature?
no it does not
Just bought this it doesn’t have a power button it has number lock in that spot idk how to turn it on
I would check the quick start instruction card that came with it. I'm sure it will tell you the location of the power button for your model.
hello, how do Microsoft office apps work? work the same as on another laptop?
Yes, the latest version is Office 365 which is cloud based so the apps are continuously updated automatically, however, you do need internet access and a monthly subscription to use it.
I'm scared to put in the micr sd card looks too small
Thanks for the review. My laptop fan is very loud and I’m not sure if others are facing the same issue. Anyone replace it?
Those budget laptop brands were built to last after one year warranty expires. The display driver update will make screen go black, I have seen 90% of those display went black and keyboard failed with in four months.
Less than 20hrs and it’s having major issues. It doesn’t even power on now. When I was using it, I noticed the fan ran constantly. I’m assuming something burnt out on the inside. Sticking with Mac from here on out.
@@tablesaltgames I ended up replacing the fan myself and it works well now. However, I ruined the the micro sd slot after taking it apart. No laptop should come like this after purchase.
Is this better than the GWTN141-5BK? Not sure how Gateway P/N’s work. And can memory or SSD drive be upgraded?
Only SSD is upgradeable but memory is soldered on motherboard unless you are good at desoldering to upgrade
it´s worth against a msi 14bwmn 14 ryzen 5 4500u?
So only 6 hours or 10 for full battery??
It will depend on your settings. I'm sure if you turn battery saver on and reduce the brightness level all the way as well as processing power you might be able to get 10 hours of "off-the-wall" time on a full charge, though it's unclear how much of that time would be idle vs active usage.
How u turn backlight on
Do you think you could use something like adobe after effects on this?
No I got one it terrible
It too laggy to do anything

Can anyone confirm if this laptop has back-lit keyboard?
Yes the keyboard is backlit but the video died 92 days on mine and I haven't been able to get service
@o11c1 how do you activate the keyboard light when you're in a dark place?
No, that's inaccurate. There is no backlight for the keyboard on this specific model.
Where can I download the user manual
Will nit shut off
Is This Laptop Good For Work At Home Jobs & Going To School On.... Or Is It Fast ?
I guess it depends on what you need it for. It's perfectly fine for creating office documents like Powerpoint presentations, Excel spreadsheets, and word processing. I've even used it for some light photo editing in Adobe Photoshop, but if you need to run high-powered engineering application like AutoCAD for work or school, then I would say that it is not powerful enough for that.
