- Carolina Kostner of Italy performing her long program ( free skate ) at the European Championships in Lyon, in 2006. After the short she was in 5th place with a score of 60.04. Despite a fall in the end, she was 3rd in the free skate, with a score of 112.41. The program included a triple triple combination ( 3F 3T ) and a double axel-half loop- triple salchow combination. She won the bronze medal, her first european medal, with an overall score of 172.45. She finished behind Irina Slutskaya and Elena Sokolova.

Amazing speed in the first combination, almost impossible...
Sorry it took me so long to reply. I checked her technical score, I think the problem was that she received some negative GOEs on some of the jumps (2A+2T, 2A+3S) and the spins,plus the fall on the double salchow, and even the jumps that she landed well didn't get very high marks... I think it's also a matter of reputation, nowadays for the same jumps she'd definitely get better marks!
It is pretty said that you get GOEs and PCS for skating while Russian/Japanese/American...

shocked her technical score was so low. she had 5 clean triple and 3 double axes. 2 huge combos as well. anyone?
ManuelPabloArnao Well she missed the second part of her double axel combination, missed the triple salchow, botched the flying sit spin and the combination spin at the end was atrociously slow. She certainly did not get high levels for her spins and definitely lost points on execution. Started out the program with real punch but really struggled in the second half. Certainly that was enough to drag down her score to mid-50's rather than mid-60's.
Guess the judges weren't up to put Slutskaya's 7th European gold in risk.
Irina Slutskaya was the Queen of Europeans back on the day with a solidified reputation and a status as a Gold Medal Favorite at the then upcoming Olympic Games in Torino, so them judges wanted to make sure she was the de facto winner and assure her a 7th title.

She is amazing she was young soo its normal
If she hadn't made those silly mistakes at the end, she might have won this!

Kostner is such an incredible skater. But her costumes have usually been the worst.
