Nice video, I upgraded my Purple Haze Ramblus very similiar, including tires . I'm a 67 still grinding since 1962, started MTB 2019 .Now emtb helps battle cancer. Also maintaining and improving bike helps mental and physical conditioning .Rock til u Drop!
Love it. 45 Here my first MTB in many years. Dr told me to do some exercise. Done 200km in two weeks. Really enjoying it. Totally agree on the mental health
I’m all for upgrades but for the price of those upgrades you could get a full suspension e-mtb with a dropper and fork. There’s some big discounts on ebikes right now.
Thanks! This was meant to be an overview of the process, but is there something in particular you felt as though you didn't understand how something was done? Would love to share some advice or perhaps we could do a standalone how-to video on a single process?
@@ElectricBikeJournal thanks for your reply! It would be great if you could do a detailed video about the dropper post replacement. You could show us how you fish the cable, how to adjust it, etc.
Do you need spacers or anything else special for the Fox Racing Shox 34 Float fork? or it will fit as is? BTW does it have a remote contrtol? Thanks again
I am thinking of upgrading the wheels and tires. Hunt Trail Wide rims and Maxxis Minion and Maxxis Aggressor for Front and back. The existing tires are not tubeless ready...Not sure about the wheels....... I think it will be much lighter this way + Fork
Sounds like some fun upgrades, make sure you weigh those wheelsets side by side we're curious of the difference. What casing tires are you planning to run?
@@ElectricBikeJournal BTW which fork is this exactly. ? It's not clear from the web side which one is chosen. ZERON36 Boost EQ?? How is this compared to the YARI ? or Bluto? No need to spend a lot of money here.
Well ours specifically is this: www.srsuntour.com/products/fork/SF25-ZERON36X-Boost-7494.html Unfortunately it seems as though they havent released it quite yet on their online store. I would say it's pretty similar to a Yari, the Zeron having more tune-ability.
@@ElectricBikeJournal Thank You...BTW...The weight of the stock fork on the bike is just a bit over 6 pounds. In comparison a FOX Racing Shox 34 Float SC 29 FIT4 Factory Boost Fork is about 3.3 pounds
I have a Ramblas and have upgraded to the same seat. I was also curious about the suspension dropper post but don't love that I lose the ability to drop it as low to get it out of the way. Maybe I will change my mind as my skills improve with time. I'm also looking to upgrade it to tubeless in the future and run the highest volume tires I can (I think 2.6" is the largest that will fit this frame?) I come from a background of dirt biking and mountain unicycling. The latter is similar to riding a hard tail, and I know from experience how much a low, tuned tire pressure can help add "suspension" to the feel of the ride, as well as improve traction.
Nice! Great saddle right? If you favor the amount of travel to slam your dropper you're better off sticking with what you have... Tubeless and 2.6's would be a great setup for you, what tires do you plan to get?
@@ElectricBikeJournal I haven't received my saddle order quite yet but I've seen nothing but great reviews for it and I was happy to see you guys recommend it after I'd already ordered hah! I'm not sure that I need that extra travel of the seat, if I don't, I'd really like to get the suspension dropper post. If they make a longer one in the future I'd probably just buy it straight away! I'm not sure on tire choice, I am still too new to know about what options are out there. But an eMTB specific tire for sure. Any recommendations?
@@left_Dane_right_Dane oh boy, you're in for a treat, its a great saddle. Yes a longer one needs to happen! Just need more people to ask for it! the right tires? well of course e rated is the right direction for sure. It really depends on your riding terrain. There are a lot of great tires and they all shine differently in different seasons and on different terrain. Just skip the upgrades on the Aventon Ramblas, and hunt yourself down a full suspension Cannondale Moterra Neo 3 while there are some still available. It is a GREAT bike for the money!
No argument that a GX would be nicer than the NX. Smoother shifting, higher quality, but I would encourage putting plenty of miles on the NX before upgrading.
Ours were the regular. Either would fit. Verify the measurements on their site and measure your hand and maybe reference the grips you currently have to envision the size difference.
@@ElectricBikeJournalI’m surprised you didn’t recommend the specialized turbo tero 3.0 standard frame based on your comparison video. More road oriented, and the fact the standard frame is considerably cheaper than the Aventon Ramblas at the moment ($2,249). If I had the extra money at the moment I’d be jumping on that deal.
@@ElectricBikeJournal checked out some e-bikes today. From Aventon: level 2, soltera 2, pace 500.3 along with a belt drive bike from Tenways. The pace 500.3 felt the best. The soltera and tenways were more of a workout with the hills, and I have 2 road bikes for workouts. The pace was still relatively light compared to the level 2 and plenty powerful, although I don’t like the pace handlebars. Do you recommend any comparable bikes to the pace? Great information here. Can you provide the size specifications for the dropper post, seat and the forks?
The seat post diameter is 31.6 and the head tube is standard tapered. These specifications and other can all be found on the aventon site :)

Great suggestion. Moterra currently 4000 at my local store. I picked up a Ramblas for 2700 but don't plan many upgrades!
I have the Ramblas. Why did you feel the need to upgrade the fork? Mine works great.
The fork it comes with is a bit on the heavy side and has no adjustments to tune for terrain, weight, etc.
What do you think of adding the SRAM GX Eagle Transmission as an upgrade to the Ramblas?

Love to hear your thoughts on the suspension seat post now that it's installed. Did it work well?
We’ll be logging some miles over the next couple months to share our thoughts on everything in a long term review. Initial thoughts are favorable.
Were the loam grips regular or XL for the Ramblas?
Ours were the regular. Either would fit. Verify the measurements on their site and measure your hand and maybe reference the grips you currently have to envision the size difference.
What did you have to cut down the steer tube to?
Mainly asking because I found a good deal on takeoff that is cut to 195mm
It will be different for everyone based on frame size and how many spacers under and above the stem they want.
I want this bike, but have no intention of going on trails lol. Is there a similar e-bike that’s more geared for road only?
There are plenty of ebikes geared just for the road. Check out the Aventon Pace 500 alnk.to/ei1RH5h

It pedals smooth, no resistance (unnoticeable if any) from the drive unit, just heavy in comparison to a hardtail non electric mtb.
