    This was such a refreshing take on food health, we see the word diet and instantly think: restriction. Thanks for talking about having a strong body and not just a smaller body.

    I can honestly say I am triggered by a LOT at the moment since Im recovering from orthorexia and some other eating disorders (really bad rebound weight gain from my past restricting) AND YET this didn't bother me at all. You are teaching your children the RIGHT WAY to be healthy. Very refreshing to see you eat a good amount of calories and still enjoy carbs etc. Well done!

    Amazing take on weight and health. About 2 years ago, I lost 56lbs. Now I'm about 132lbs and more muscular than skinny. It's definitely about feeling lighter and more comfortable. After 3 kids and 3 c-sections, it was tough but every woman should feel great about themself, regardless of actual weight

    I really appreciate that you take your viewers’ sensitivities surrounding food and diet seriously. At the same time it must must be exhausting to have to give so many disclaimers and explanations. I hope we get to a place soon where everyone can just do whatever they want with their own bodies and other people can just not take it as a personal attack or something.

    • @viviannichols3582
      @viviannichols3582 3 года назад +1

      It isn’t always that it feels like a “personal attack.” Someone who has suffered from disordered eating might hear something that reminds them of dieting and it can start disordered thoughts going in their head, regardless of the intentions of the person who said it. So I think with this topic, it is helpful to give a warning.

    I love your videos so much. You were suggested to me on here out of nowhere. I watch a bunch of lifestyle youtubers who mostly post about very vapid things. Its a guilty pleasure. But then you came up as a suggestion and I watched your videos and you are so relatable. And you make me wanna try new things and better more healthy. I see other youtubers being like "this is what I do to lose weight or maintain. This is what I don't do". And its all like SO expensive. Or they go to stores we don't have in the south. Well Kentucky. Some say its not the south. Either way. Your content has taught me so much. I budget better and I cook better. And you are so funny. And I feeeeel like your videos are genuinely you.

    I love this video! The trend on youtube seems to be that calorie counting is bad... I simply don't agree with that. I lost 25 pounds last year using MyFitnessPal and tracking my calories, and I still do in order to maintain my weight loss. It's a great way to keep myself accountable (because I WILL lie to myself about how much I'm eating if I'm just "eyeballing"). And as you said, we perform better when we're at a healthy weight, so I hate when people shame calorie counting because it works for so many people! THANK YOU for being realistic and practical. You can do it! Don’t get discouraged if you only lose about a pound or two a week. A healthy pace unless your doctor says otherwise is to lose about a pound or two a week at most. You don’t wanna lose muscle in an attempt to lose fat. Body fat % and measurements might become more accurate depending on what exercises you include due to muscle gain. A pound of muscle takes up less spaces than a pound of fat.

    Thank you so much for your chat at the beginning. I've been unhappy with how I look and feel lately (my pants don't fit either) and my husband felt the same way so we're both working together to lose some weight. It helps so much when he is trying to eat healthy too! He normally isn't a big veggie guy but he's been humoring me when I make roasted veggies (which I love). He used to cycle competitively until a bad bicycle wreck so he's been putting his bike on the trainer lately and I can tell he's already happier overall! It's so nice that we've got a common goal. ❤

    Thank you for being you!! I’m new to your channel(about 2 weeks now) and you are touching a lot of the things about food, exercise, and good nutrition. I am 67, used to do some type of sports(usually basketball and track) and cheerleading. I am 10 months out from a total knee replacement, had no (zero) cartilage left in rt knee. After living in so much pain for the last 8-10 years, I’ve put on a lot more weight so I’m doing pool therapy/exercise to help me get back to my normal body. I’m sad because my surgeon and rehab instructors told me no to running, but ok to walking. After all my knee is metal and plastic now.
    You are such a down to earth, fun and exciting but most of all you encourage me to take things a step at a time and do/eat what’s best for my body.
    Keep up the awesome videos with such helpful info and ideas….I appreciate the time you spend doing these for us.
    Have a wonderful weekend!!😊 Liz

    Hey Christine, where did you get your white pasta/salad bowls, not the ones with the holes on the side? Amazon? I have some old Ikea bowls that are really scratched up and need to get new ones. And don't apologize for wanting to get in shape. I'm 58 and have been in a sedentary job for 20 years and it's catching up. I've always been skinny but not really active and it's now showing. So during the shutdown I've been walking two to four miles a day - it is extremely important to exercise and move especially as you get older because you will injure yourself easily if you don't!! Not to mention all the other health maladies that happen with a sedentary lifestyle. Exercise for health, and then the pounds come off! And it is recommended highly for women who are menopausal to strength train to rev up metabolism. Start slow. It becomes addicting and you'll want to do more. Just my two cents...:) Have a great day everyone!!

    Great Video! Thank you for including the incredibly worded disclaimer about not hating your body - but still wanting to make changes. Sometimes when I mention wanting to drop 10 pounds (or let’s be honest, the quarantine 15) I often get met with “but you’re beautiful the way you are!” It’s frustrating because I never once said I was ugly, I simply want to better my health/physique. Wanting to change your body’s composition does NOT define beauty. I’m going to check out the isolate protein you mentioned!🤩

    I liked this video a lot, I like that you point out that some days you consume more calories then other, and that you'll eat a brownie or some extra okra and not feel bad. We can really get stuck in this punishment mindset when we eat junk food, when in reality we should not be depriving ourselves of food we want to consume and instead we should be working towards balanced meals with a few treats in between! If I've learned anything in my journey towards healthy eating, it's moderation!

    I also have tight hamstrings and hip flexors. I've had tight hamstrings since at least my early teenage years (or earlier, don't know for sure) and tight hip flexors since following knee surgeries on both knees (one involving a torn meniscus, and one a banged up meniscus). I also have a hard time from my knee surgeries with getting off the floor after sitting, and with kneeling as well. I'm finally on a healthy (doctor supervised) eating plan to lose weight and looking for different ways to get movement in without overdoing things. Walking more than a few hundred feet at a time hurts my knees in varying degrees depending also on the weather (barometric pressure on joint flexibility, and arthritis in at least one of my knees).
    I've had good luck in the past with weight lifting and activities such as swimming and running (swim team all 4 years of high school, spring track and cross-country track 3 years of high school), but now struggle and get exhausted just trying to tread water in a lake. I'm at a bit of a loss as to what to do for exercise that I won't get bored with after a short period of time and would love to get back to swimming and running sometime in the future, but between tight hip flexors and knee pain due to arthritis and how my knees now function from a physiological/anatomical standpoint following injuries and surgeries, I don't know what's possible for the future or even how to get to that point in which I could participate in such activities again. I know a good portion of my abilities physically are also dependent on weight loss (about half of my current weight to get to my goal weight), but it gets discouraging and frustrating in the process by having to wait to partake in these activities until I lose more weight (I'm on a low carb, high protein/vegetable diet: 2--3 servings of carbs per day, 1-2 servings of fruit, 2-4 cups of veggies for lunch and supper, and at least 30 grams protein per meal, no more than 1 protein drink per day). It was a bit difficult to get through the holiday season as far as the healthy eating is concerned and I've had significant struggles since then because I got COVID at the end of January that also derailed my healthy eating a bit. I've been trying to get back on track, but it's definitely tough.

    I am a fat person (no, it's not a bad word), and the culture can sometimes be toxic, tbh. I don't think that a person is automatically unhealthy because they happen to be fat. I also don't think there's anything inherently wrong with wanting to change something about yourself, no matter the reason. Yes, diet culture can be far more toxic, and there's a lot of pressure to look a certain way, and a lot of negativity surrounding even the IDEA of being fat. But that doesn't mean that if I, as a fat person, CHOOSE to lose weight, that I am somehow invalidating body positivity or anyone's experiences with fatphobia. Those are all still valid. But facts are facts, and my body doesn't handle being fat very well, so losing weight is essential not to LOOK better, but to FEEL better. I'm sick of being in pain, and if someone has a problem with me losing weight to solve that, then they really have a problem with themselves. We can do things for ourselves that may not be what someone else would do for their own self, and that's ok. We can still support and uplift each other, regardless of our philosophy on intentional weight loss. (And I do appreciate the trigger warning. I know it can be really difficult for some people, and it's important to keep a safe space where people are able to engage or disengage at will with content that may be harmful to them. Good job.

      Any protein supplement is not necessary in any way. You can absolutely get all of the protein and calories that you need from food. When people are working out for a long time or lifting weights very heavy sometimes it just gets really old to eat egg whites and chicken breast and fish all the time, so it provides a little variety.

    It would be a great video to see Dave, make the meal plan and grocery shop, like you do. Make meals around what is already in the house, make a list based from that, and go shopping and try to find the best deals. I think it would be a fantastic and funny video idea.

    Yay Hailey! Congrats on getting your license. You said okra in the air fryer, and I totally thought it was going to be roasted, the way you do all of your other veggies. 😁
    I have had no success with FRIED okra in the air fryer, it comes out a big mess. What is your secret?

    Foam rolling has improved the muscle integrity of my legs and shortened my recovery time. Stretching is great but because I bend about as well as a tree branch the foam roller helps massage and stretch my hamstrings and hips better than I can otherwise do on my own.

      This video will give you a good example of foam rolling. I learned how to foam roll from a personal trainer at my old gym who thought it'd help me and it really did. It hurts the first time because you're essentially massaging out knots and that hurts but the more you do it the less those knots can develop. Prior to that I didn't even know you could have knots on other parts of your body besides your back.

    Good job Haley! In the state of Wisconsin, during this whole Covid-19 thing, kids are just being given their driver's license when their 6 month probationary period expires. My youngest daughter who just got her license in November said "I should have just waited, it would have been so much less stressful!" LOL

    i need help. i'm about 20 lbs underweight. i'm not anorexic - i just get too lazy to eat sometimes. i also get distracted while eating super easily, so i would often take HOURS to finish my food. literally 2-3 hours or more. this leads to my very poor eating habit as i don't eat as regularly as i'm supposed to because i don't feel hungry very often (since i take hours to finish). i don't count calories, i don't watch what i eat (as in i don't care to avoid certain things unless i genuinely don't like them, for ex. bittermelon, lamb, etc). genetics might play a factor as it seems that my family members have a fairly high metabolism. do you have any suggestions for what i can do/change to help with my eating habits?

    I’m hoping you can explain this to me. What is protein powder for? Is it just to increase your protein intake? I have a lot of weight to lose and am down 30 pounds. I’m wondering if this is something that would help me but I also don’t do high intensity workouts. I mainly do lots of walking and cardio. Thank you in advance!! Loved the video.

    • @FrugalFitMom
      @FrugalFitMom  4 года назад +2

      Yes it’s to increase your protein intake but not necessary! You can get the protein from food but I just like the convenience of it.

    Hello... kind new to ur channel and have just a couple of ques..or asking for tips or whatever.. so... I have gained alot in the last 10 yrs.. I never had an issue with weight eveeerrrr.. did i say ever 😂😂 anywho I have bad chronic fatigue. And fibro and some other things I have faced, but I know excercise would help with energy, but how do I get motivation if I have none😪😪 I am in CO and noticed u have spoke about or recommended cbd oils or whatever.. I'm not too knowledgeable where that is concerned so why would u recommend? Is it for pain.. I don't know I am basically tired of being sick and tired I feel blahhhh daily.. hormones are out whack and menopause has been hard.. but I hate the way I look, but what is weird even when I did look "ok" I never felt that I did look good. Well enough of those blabbering moments I guess.. I just need some direction.. I love ur energy and dwn to earth attitude.. 🥰

    I just started running (4 days ago), not for weight loss purposes but because since this quarantine I've noticed my mood has gone downhill and my amazing boyfriend is getting the brunt of it. Unfortunately I may have to find a different exercise (thinking cycling) to do as I broke my foot a few years back and it gets pretty sore while running (might be the shoes, running surface, or even just my body has to get used to it). My "engine" as you call it has to work pretty hard at the moment lol but any progress is still progress!
