But did you record the weekend shenanigans or was it too hectic? Either way keep educating us. We really appreciate it. Plus the complaining makes me feel like we're related.
Nothing gives me more satisfaction than having a bad day working on some racks to come home and watch you have a worse day😂😂! I hope this RUclips thing is paying off man I really do hope you get some type of reward for your work!!!
Excellent video. I know your frustration on old obsolete equipment. I had a Cyprus cooling tower with a bad manifold in a company that could afford to replace it. No they said, fix it. I spent three days welding up a cooling spray manifold with 50 nozzles to make it run again. Stupid bean counters. Thanks for the video.
looks like they need flare filter driers(schraders and service valves both ends) right before the txv's. that would curb some of the issues with small screens plugging. dirty contaminated lines with junk breaking free.
love the incredible amount of detail you put into your work k. the big store mechanical rooms are cool to see keep up the great work have a great new year
Just had one of those three way valves leak in the same spot. A few thousand ppms, tried tightening them like you did but didn’t have as great of luck as you did. Waiting on the gaskets to arrive
leak whack-a-mole! lucky here, the little bit of junk I fiddle with, (so far) has only been "micro" schrader core leaks, until gauged up on of course, in which they turn to large leakers and need core replaced. which is why I never connect until I'm sure there's a charge issue.(small self contained junk)
I would be interested in seeing milliamps or volts coming back to the controller. You mentioned it in one of your previous videos with the dirty strainers. If you have time
next time your on an E2 with comtrol boards could you show the network summary and the input and output list screens I've only seen them running on Danfoss
I do enjoy your sarcastic complaints. So I will be watching this in it's entirety. Any tech that doesn't have a complaint about some piece of machinery are they even a tech?
I just came off my Christmas PM tour. It seems like everyone wants that shutdown week. Despite the young guys having no PTO because they burnt it all up they don't want to do it. I don't know how the trades are going to survive in another 10 years
Well you know what in the long run We all know that if it was easy everybody would do it and get it right the first time I am a true believer in either do it right or don't do it at all
Great video as always! Rack systems are fun fun lol! Happy new year! Hope you get some time off soon. If you ever make it back to NASA in Cape Canaveral Florida hit me up, lunch or dinner on me!
The ranting - LOL - love it - I feel vindicated when others used to call me a curmudgeon when I used to do the same!!! Don't worry - the ones who stayed to watch the whole vid were the ones the KNOW what you are going through and feel your pain......Keep up the great work and the great vids - "Yeah we're going 9000...she having a bad day" - I am going to use that phrase for when the wife loses her mind...LOL
Have you had the pleasure of leak checking R744 in a supermarket? Good luck finding leaks. The Inficon with the CO2 sensor goes off everywhere except where the leak is. Your breath sets it off. The only luck we've had is seeing the oil leak out of the insulation.
when you work on this systemson a rush, i see you never do vacums, whats the "correct" procedure when u dont have a pump? u bleed a little bit of refrigerant?
I don’t show everything or the video would be way longer plus People need to know the basics of refrigeration or they shouldn’t be doing it. You seen the pump in this video.
@HVACRSurvival Hey Rick, just to start off love the videos, they have helped me be ahead of the curve on knowledge and I have you to thank for all the compliments I get from my Journeyman. I am currently a first year union apprentice. But I have some Questions. When installing o-rings, seals, etc. do you always or should (or shouldn't) you use nylog upon install? Also, I have not ran into any rack systems yet but when it comes to defrosting I am assuming they still have termination (optional?) and drip time. My question however is what do you recommend as a good timed defrost setting and drip time setting for both a high traffic freezer and low traffic freezer? Thanks in advanced!
🇺🇸👍💪❄️ Great work n nothing wrong with complaining or what I like to say calling it like u c it. N in this trade u see some crap that just makes say WTF wer they thinking!!!
Hard to believe no one ever relocated that filter housing, super stupid. Dumb that store never paid to have it moved, years of hours of guys fighting it.
Happy New Year Suggestion: Whoever does not like Rick's rants, just dont watch. Their are literally 100s of channels. The great thing about America is that we have a choice and freedom. That being said, why would you want to control how someone thinks and speaks. Granted, I may be biased, Rick, and others have helped to understand HVAC/R. I eat the meat and spit out the bones. Meet people where they are.
It's only good for brand new stuff, once you get oil all over insides and you flow nitrogen, it dissolves into the oil rather rapidly and then you would have to gas it off on a deep vacuum for a long time, it's not worth it, the oil inside will cook up into black carbon anyway, impractical to clean it up completely. That's why big filters are inline that you replace after opening the system, takes care of the crap.
I'm hear to complain about your complaining, so you can complain back about it, then I can complain more! 🥳🥸 vicious cycle, like the refrigerant leaks a plenty? 🤣
Sorry about the delayed video guys, this weekend was jampacked with bad things happening and was not able to get it completed on time yesterday.
That's alright love ❤ the content really informative
Thanks man
No worries brother. Always appreciate your videos. They entertain as well as educate
But did you record the weekend shenanigans or was it too hectic? Either way keep educating us. We really appreciate it. Plus the complaining makes me feel like we're related.
Better late than never…intro is awesome..
Nothing gives me more satisfaction than having a bad day working on some racks to come home and watch you have a worse day😂😂! I hope this RUclips thing is paying off man I really do hope you get some type of reward for your work!!!
I make money because I have so many videos. It pays about $8 per 1k views
I complain a lot to when I’m on calls. It helps my day
Exactly 👍
Once i seen both leaks on the 3 way split valves , I new this job was a nightmare
The gaskets in those 3 way valves are terrible especially the back😂😭
Rick- how you figure that stuff out is amazing, my residential mind has a tough time understanding those big ole machines
It takes a while but it comes eventually.
Rick, I have worked with people who thought that they knew everything but didn’t know squat ! I feel your pain !!!
Really liking the explaination of things! Especially how all the valves work and the flow of refrigerant/gas that they control. Thank you!
Excellent video. I know your frustration on old obsolete equipment. I had a Cyprus cooling tower with a bad manifold in a company that could afford to replace it. No they said, fix it. Been binge watching your videos as of late. Always entertaining and always learn something new. Definitely one of my favorite channels so thank you!
Thanks brother. I have a lot of them. It’s crazy how I forgot what some are about 😂👍👍
I like the disclaimer up front warning there may be rants Great little vid as usual ... Thx Rick
I try Eddy. 😉
Thanks for the video like the super market refrigeration because it’s a different type of thing that you don’t get to see you every day
looks like they need flare filter driers(schraders and service valves both ends) right before the txv's. that would curb some of the issues with small screens plugging.

Great job Rick, Yeah, bleeder valves, or someway to purge the lines, would be too much to ask for????..........
Great content, will always be a fan.
Thanks Ray!
I love your ranting!!
That rack is leaking faster than a screen door on a submarine. nice video, surprised they didn't change the seal on the filter drier.
Appreciate the video!! Very thankful for the videos weather they are “on time” or not
Thank you for another great video, you do really good work 😊
Nice work Rick. Happy New Year!
Just had one of those three way valves leak in the same spot. A few thousand ppms, tried tightening them like you did but didn’t have as great of luck as you did. Waiting on the gaskets to arrive
Super educational. You work hard to help us all. Appreciate it.
Thanks Jay!

Great find on the missed seals leaking! That old system probably has plenty of leaks lol. Be safe and enjoy your trips
Thanks. In Vegas now
@@HVACRSurvival. Least you’ll miss the snow hopefully
Good video Rick !

Good stuff!

🤷♂️ AI will likely just give people the answers to fix it them selves
Very interesting Rick 👌
Happy New Year Rick and Family!
Thank you very much Rich, you too!
Well you know what in the long run
We all know that if it was easy everybody would do it and get it right the first time
I am a true believer in either do it right or don't do it at all
Exactly but I have to deal with a lot of excuses with no changes in sight
Love the channel your a great tech
Your to kind. Thank you!
Great video as always! Rack systems are fun fun lol! Happy new year! Hope you get some time off soon. If you ever make it back to NASA in Cape Canaveral Florida hit me up, lunch or dinner on me!
I’ll be in Orlando for AHR in Feb 25
hard orings and gaskets shrink and the dirt in the drier they didn't clean the bottom of the tube when they had it apart
Give Lora and Brit my best Regards!

No. We don’t have any co2 around here.
You should be part owner of your company you put in a lot of work
Really good video, so informative. I never worked supermarket fridge and probably never will! You must get lots of overtime?!
I had 330+ hrs of overtime in 24
You sure do catch the crap systems, nothing like working on antiquated systems is there.
We’re leaving them in April. No money when they provide the refrigerant and complain about the bills
Do you prefer the testos over the field piece gauges
Yes I like the size of the Testo gauges but the Fieldpiece probes are better quality.
A+ video
E2 is the gold standard imo. I do not like the E3. Tries too hard to be cutting edge and they got rid of the keyboard

Thanks Sherwin 👍👍
So I'm assuming you're at the place Linus from Linus Tech Tips is at? Cool
😂
I’m here for the complaining 😂
i skipped the first 15 seconds. what's with all the negativity? xd
Am I the only one that thinks rack filters are an after thought as far as the way they look. Looks like a first design that never needed to change.
Thats alot of torch carbon. Guess alot of techs in your area dont use nitro in their brazing jobs.
Other than new installs the risk of contaminating hundreds of pounds of refrigerant to flow nitrogen isn't worthwhile.
Probably was an an r12 rack that got converted to 134
502 to 507
