    I finished another one. It's the same color as a rabbit, so I put on white pom poms. I used size 8 needles and 4 ply.

I like to make a set, scarf and a hat. A 10 US needle is a 6mm in metric , and a size 4 in UK terms. I found a chart that compares the different confusing sizes......yeah

    I noticed that your one caption said 'switching between right and left-handed knitting', but you were still working with the same needle (the right needle), and just holding the yarn on your other hand. That's not left-handed knitting, it's continental style (easier for those who started out crocheting, usually, like me. haha).

    • @PeonyandThyme
      @PeonyandThyme  5 лет назад

      Hi, Ann! Thanks so much for watching! This is a great question! You don’t need to end with a knit row. The knit row is only for the very first row. After that, you just follow the two row pattern and then bind off when your scarf is as long as you want it to be!😄 I hope you love your scarf! 😍

    Interesting. I learned the other way that you knit 1 and yarn over 1 for Fisherman's Rib.

    • @KittenBowl1
      @KittenBowl1 2 года назад +1

      That’s not fisherman’s rib, what you’re describing is called Brioche knitting. It looks similar but totally different stitches. Brioche is considered to be a little bit more difficult so fisherman’s rib is called lazy man’s stitch sometimes. Anyways yarn over is not any part of fisherman’s rib but Brioche.

    The Lion brand wool recommends a size 5.5mm knitting needle. Isn't a size 10 a much smaller needle? I thought the bigger the yarn (and this is a 10 ply) the bigger the needle. Would love to try this stitch as a scarf it really is very pretty.

    • @grandma.p
      @grandma.p 6 лет назад

      I'm using size 8 and 4 ply. It looks good so far.

    • @KittenBowl1
      @KittenBowl1 2 года назад +1

      Size 10 is one size larger needle size, 6mm size in metric than what that particular yarn recommended needle because 5.5m is size 9. It’s a Worsted weight yarn. So you can go anywhere between from 4.5 - 6 mm. If you’re knitting gloves or hats for example, you typically select a smaller needle size so that you can knit tighter knitted fabric. For things like shawls and scarves, you go for bigger size needle for drapes. But it’s up to you. I have a yarn that’s recommending 4-6 mm needle size. I already made a scarf using 6 mm. The fabric is too loose for my liking so this time with different color I will be using 5 mm, which is US size 8. So it’s all up to you which size needles you want to use.

  • @susanwingblade1799

    I love your scarf and the pattern. Isn't there supposed to be one row, in fisherman's knit, that has purl stitches in it. You purl into the back of the stitch? I was ronly wondering because other videos did that for this stitch. Personally, I think your pattern is far easier and I love it.

      Desiree Rudolph Thanks so much for your kind words! And great question! For the color change, you continue knitting in pattern just like you have been.😊 I hope your scarf turns out wonderfully!😍

    I loved your videos and so far I managed to knit a scarf same like yours. Unfortunately the suggest skeins from Amazon were really bad quality and kept cutting off. I had to use a different kind although I wanted the same colours. Are they so sensitive to use or I was unlucky?

    How did you wash your scarf? I washed mine in the washing machine on the delicate cycle and it held up really well but my pom poms fell apart even though the yarn said that it was machine wash safe.
