the presence of a martial artist weapon set has me intrigued. the cestus and claws were ok, but it was mostly a boxing style, eastern martial arts is much more a big interest of mine, so much like the fist weapon in nioh 2 or the tonfa in nioh 1, that would be a weapon i would want to make one of my mains.

Random radical theory: considering they say the land of shadows was originally part of the lands between before it became physically seperate, what if the shadow land would have been where the ocean/lake is in the middle of the map now? The one the divine towers surround. It might explain the land-bridge theory between Mountaintops and Caelid, and maybe even why the towers were build were they are, and why the land seems to just drop off with no notice

But his claims about the wicker man are most likely a fanciful creation. In real life a wicker man that big would collapse under its own weight and the burning wicker snaps quickly and more with a living being inside. The movie called The Wicker Man (1973) popularized the wicker man into the popular culture (there was the Wicker Man Festival in Scotland, without the sacrifices). In the end, is still being disputed. Apologies for the wall of text.

@@ETBrooD imagine if Hunter Yura, the Recusants of Mount Gelmir and some other factions had an emblem that you could equip in your inventory, representing allegiance to that faction. That's a covenant. And I don't know nor care for what they did in dark souls, but in Bloodborne they served to alter PvP encounters by way of making possible friendly summons be hostile instead (it was impossible for church executioners and cainhurst vilebloods to be anything but enemies no matter how they found themselves on the same instance, and hunters of hunters had a one third chance to see an ally as an enemy instead) or by adding a leaderboard for helping people kill a boss (the league).

About the dlc I'm just curious to understand how the new mechanics that Myazaki describes as "It's something like an Attack Power separate from existing levels that is only effective within the DLC area." will influence PvP and invasions, maybe you can only invade in dlc and not in the previous areas, as if it were a separate content.
I bet it's basically something similar to the Giant Souls in DS2 when fighting against Vendrick, basically it's some kinda debuff.

Elden Ring is not mainly an MMO game, it's an Action RPG game and there's a difference. Action RPG is the genre of all Souls-like games that FromSoft has released, including Elden Ring.
I don't get what you're trying to say here, Expansion and DLCs are literally the same thing, just different words. They are both downloadable content that adds more to the base game.

Reminder that the fastest way to reach the DLC area from the start is to finish Varre's quest. You get a teleport to the Lord of Blood right after defeating Godrick.
I did finish his quest... killing him at The First Step genuinely counts.
Of course, that also depends on your ability to fight Mohg, and using this method you will definitely be underleveled.

I like how direct Miyazaki is. Other devs are seldom this precise about their Games. They're so vague you may as well just didn't do it at all.

I don't think we'll be time traveling. I think it's going to be an event that's heavily reminiscent of how the Godhand is introduced in Berserk (an eclipse more or else, entry point still being the withered hand as mentioned towards the end of the reveal's voiceover but it will only be unlocked at a cinematic that involves an eclipse) and we're going to have 4 Big Bads we have to take down before we can fight Miquella's alter-ego (not sure if Messmer is the redheaded male or the snakes yet, but the male's lips can be seen moving during the voiceover, specifically at the "sanction in one" portion of the voiceover where the sentence begins with "Mother" as if referring to Marika in a familiar manner like that of a child of Marika (I think the redheaded male may or may not be Messmer; as both he and the snakes could be considered impalers; the male because of him possessing a spear and being able to summon spears as a form of magic and the snakes because they are PHYSICALLY impaling the redheaded male as can be seen at 02:36 in the reveal trailer - but the redheaded male is most likely the alter-ego of Miquella as Radagon is the alter-ego of Marika).

Kung fu kicks and throwing daggers got me hype
thinking on it I think I can theorize:
Thrown weapons: hoping its more than just daggers. Give use javelins and axes too!
Twin Weapons: I think the two curved swords shown off may be hinting at it.
Shielded Weapons: the dueling shield might be an indicator. hoping for dual shields.
Martial Arts Weapons; A full punch and kick weapon, rather than just fists.
That's 4 out of 8 that we know. I said in a lot of other places; but I feel like if they added catalyst weapons, they could make that its own weapon category and fill it with different weapons for each type of spell/incantation.
Also colossal katanas confirmed by Miyazaki not the gameplay trailer tho

In my opinion the shadow land were ruled by the gloom eyed queen and mesmer and melina are her children ( melina said she was born inside the erdtree , but what if she talk about this decaying erdtree ) and the reason she hate the flame of chaos is because her brother was taken over by it too . The reason the godskyn want to destroy the landbetwen is because their lands were destroyed by queen marika.

Time Travel is NOT something new to FromSoft. They did it back in Dark Souls 2
That being said: I don't think it's time travel. I don't know how to describe it but with it being Miquella involved: it's going to be a dreamscape. Question is: who's dream? That I wouldn't be able to answer. If I had to make a vague guess: it's Marika's... or possibly Miquella's own dream... he is still in that cocoon.

You know what would make me happy? An XMog feature in the game. I mean there are NO Dark/Demon Souls games. Only "Fashion Souls". If you have to fight at least do it in style.
Though I suppose the good people reveling in PvP would rather know what the hell you are equipped with... even if that can be easily mitigated if you make the XMog only be client side.

I'm calling it. Marika/Radagon had ANOTHER kid in the Shadow Land. Either with themselves or as one aspect with another Shadow Land inhabitant. Abandoned it like Marika/Radagon do, except instead of the sewers, they split the dimensions to hide it and that is Mesmer. It's like Namless King 2.0.

I was expecting/hoping this dlc would be related to Miquella initiating the Eclipse and traveling to the Helphen which would be summoned in the... well, shadow of the Erdtree that is in the center of the map. Sadly it looks like we probably aren't going to get a resolution for Godwyn's story or potential story developments regarding Radagon's origins (Miquella could still bring them up in SoTE, but still).
Oh well, I'm still very excited for what we will get. And it seems we were all wrong in believing Miquella's arm to be the one in the cocoon. It is very clearly Messmer's.
We need Host + 2 Yellows (Or 1 Yellow, 1 Blue) /// vs 2 Reds (Allies) /// vs 1 Purple (Miquella-Wild Card: Has to kill everyone) for insane situations in PvE
I just feel like Elden Ring was such a masterfully perfected game, that fans just don't want his to be the only one that exists. You know, a lot of us are still begging for Sekiro DLC, getting just ONE new boss would send a lot of us to the moon and back because Sekiro was just that damn good. The thought that Elden Ring might follow suit is kinda worrisome for the gaming community. It's not that we need Elden Ring 2 or more DLC, we just want to know there's still going to be more games like it. Further building on what was the pinnacle of FromSoft's genre of games. People are still hungry for these types of game, Lies of P and Lords of the Fallen had a lot of attention and expectation because of how much we enjoyed Elden Ring and one was just kinda mid and the other was a worse version of Dark Souls 2 with a few interesting concepts. Of course there are those that are simply not ready to leave the world of Elden Ring yet either, and I'm definitely one of them. I think one of consequences of giving a game multiple endings is that it entices the imaginion of wanting to see where those endings lead. For crying out loud they can make 6 different Elden Rings 2 because each ending is so compelling and sets up a very interesting new world to explore. I mean fuck me if I said I wasn't interested in getting a sci-fi space adventure with medieval weaponry, magic, and culture. That's what's so cool about the Age of Stars ending, the fact they're traversing space without advance technology. Somebody give me that game NOW!!!
They WILL make a second DLC, that is for sure. Miyazaki is a very pragmatic man, he knows what he wants and he never plays around the bushes about what he wants. If he wasn't going to make another DLC he would have said so clearly, like he did when asked about DLCs for Sekiro.
I think that might be a mistranslation. I think "8 new weapon classes" should be 8 new unique weapons. Like Radahns Paired Swords would be a unique weapon, but it's still an ultra. Monk feet would be a fist weapon. Throwing daggers would be dagger. Spike shield is still a great shield.

3:25 I don't think we're going to be time traveling for a multitude of reasons, one of which is that Messmer musingly asks if Marika would "lordship sanction, in one so bereft of light", referring most likely to us, the tarnished (or maybe himself?), clearly in reference to becoming a new elden lord, which is a recent thing and not something in the past.

Moreover, think about how long it took you to complete Limgrave and how complete it was compared to the Mountaintops of the Giants.

I’m hoping this is DLC because it’s looking to be a separate game with “starting” clases. Remnant 2 had a DLC and it was a continuation added to the game. I don’t see how this works if it’s a prequel unless it’s actually Miquela reborn from the cocoon.
If FromSoftware can take Martins writings and convert them into an amazing game without a crappy ending than what the hell was HBOs excuse?

Merkia is likely responsible for the Shadow lands much in the same way she's responsible for the Erd tree

I'm calling this. Miquela wasn't kidnapped by Mogh. They ran away toguether. And when they showed up demanding babysitting Mesmer, Marika threw them all into the shadowlands, shattered the ring and went insane. Can't blame her really. What a mess.
I still don't think we will be time traveling, I feel like it is going to be more like the painted world in ds1 and ds3 as in many cultures shadow realm means death or dream/spirit world. I have a big feeling this is gonna be involving a lot with "those who live in death" and who really "killed" Godwyn Just a guess though because Miquella was so obsessed with trying to save Godwyn from his unnatural "death"
Edit: Not to say time traveling isn't an option as they have done that as well many times in the past. But I feel with Martin doing the ground work of the world story it probably won't follow that

The monk moveset will die off fast in PVP, too easy to dodge and retaliate. The moment someone does that jumpkick I'm rolling behind them and backstabbing.
