I think what seperates this scene from any other shonen battle death experience is the raw emotion portrayed in yujis face. You can see that he tries to muster up his rage but the pure despair just overwhelms him.
Attack on Titan did it 10 years ago on the very first episode with the death of Eren's mother and his reaction. So don't act like JJK is the first to do it.
What seperates JJK from other shonen is that here characters actually die, and as in real world, rarely anyone who dies is able to achieve what they wanted. In other shows if someone dies, it usually happens after their character arc is complete and viewers feels satisfied, but in JJK death is like in real world, it comes suddenly, unexpected and it always is tragic

The destruction of Yuji's psyche, and Todo being a true Burruzza Chad, bringing him back from the brink - so funny and wholesome. And black flash... Todo didn't want to be left behind by his best Frendo, so he uses his 530,000 IQ to black flash and become one with his soul lol. Amazing
Listen the animation, story beats and emotional weight of this arc is amazing But can we take a moment to appreciate the voice acting, Mahito sounds so deranged and sadistic, the cracks in his voice, the screams, all of it was just perfect
100% Mahito's VA was outta this world good. Junya Enoki (Itadori's VA) Snapped as well, that entire scene of him breaking down was a Hall of famer performance 🔥
Ya know even in the manga i still don't know how Todo knew where Yuji was man literally just spawns in to jump Mahito. Like I swear he touched down in Shibuya and somehow felt his bro needed backup and just tped over locked in for some devious teamwork.
They were already heading to the subway so they could get Gojo back but Todo realizes he's long gone and says they need to save allies/kill as many curses as possible. Wouldn't take too long to find the train of destruction left by Yuji and Mahito, especially since he can sense Yuji's CE
Despite being "the weakest" of the sorcerer cast, for me, Yuji has the most entertaining fights to watch. Sure, Gojo this, Gojo that, but nothing brings me more joy to see Yuji's masterclass in throwing hands

after a really bad couple of days, this episode had me crying so hard, but at the end of it i felt so much better. Todo is The Goat hands down. He knows how to pull not just yuij up but all of us when we need it.

This episode basically solidified Mahito as one of my favourite villians in fiction, dude is just pure fycking evil for evils sake The way he just casually transforms and disfigures and uses people and his enjoyment in causing pain and suffering and despair, he is just so unlikable and evil and as the embodiment of humans hatred for each other, i cant help but love him from a story perspective
It is amazing how many manga/anime readers/watchers wanted to stop the series just because of Todo and the assumption of a Shonen trope. I just love how when you got to know Todo more, that he considered traits like strategy, ability to analyze, and handle intense situations by clearing his mind to be his value as a Jujutsu Sorcerer. In other wards, he viewed his understanding of combat, analysis, and team-work as his strength, just his actual physical prowess before becoming a sorcerer. I just love Todo's character so much. My favorite characters, in terms of writing, VA's, depth, etc.. are in JJK: Yuji, Todo, Choso, Kenjaku, and Sukuna (runner ups in my reply with me wanting to move either Megumi/Nanamin up). Overall, stunning and amazing episode. I agree, the best moments have been the beautiful character development inserted between and sometimes during the fights. While the moments are shorter compared to the Genre, they hit hard and resonate with the actual current context of the Arc. JJK just has outstanding writing, character growth, mysteries, lack of plot armor, and fascinating combat. Kudos to Gege, Animators, Producers, and engineers. My sincere hope is Mappa will try to reconcile and recover their image. As much as I want season 3 and beyond, I never want to put someone else's health in jeopardy. We need to evolve as a society that there are many folks apart of the content creation process of Anime and Games. Myself being a game dev for 10+ years, at this point, I can tell you how much it is appreciated when you find the comment that someone loved the feature. Burnout is huge because the pay is lower due to high labor supply. 60+ hour weeks for any entertainment like jobs is still the norm (and no there is never an expectation of of having to compensate the developers because it is explained as 'You should feel fortunate you are working on games and that should be enough'
its wild to see the clips of Choso mixed in here because it shows me just how far we've come and how far Yuji's fallen into the depths of despair in just a few episodes. Even when the fight with Choso was going on it felt like a 'normal' anime arc in terms of stakes, emotions, etc. But since then we've taken such a wild turn

I will say though.....the Yuji megumi nobara moments were very short lived. I cant say im too broken up about it cause we barely see them as a trio when looking at the series overall. It hurts cause Yujis hurt but outside of that, cant say it was too devastating to me. Its different from say Hxh with Gons crew, cause you see their dynamic ALOT among that crew.
Don’t get me wrong the animation here is in fact phenomenal. Though because mappa was rushed I feel some movements are less comprehension able than season 1. For example just look at hanami and mahito fight in season 1 vs this fight.
Season 1 is more consistent but season 2 especially these last 6 episodes are just incredible. Season 2 feels a lot more creative while season 1 feels more standard and by no means did it look bad . I'm guessing because how successful season 1 was , mappa decided to go crazy for season 2 . They hired multiple directors and treated there employees terribly, which is really sad but I'm hoping the animators to on strike after the season is done . Went off track but mappa went all out for season 2 , that's why every episode feels different

I think a perfect example in this season is just compare the ultimate mechamaru fight to this mahito fight. It feels way more messy and not as polished. Then compare the first half of the Mahoraga fight to the middle half. Just doesn’t stay consistent.

This episode's animation was pretty bad compared to the other episodes, MAPPA should actually give the animators time to make this a masterpiece. The animators have talent and MAPPA should not waste it with such a tight calendar.

i cant stand mahito, he is so annoying, just die already. yuji is such a punching bag. and i know sukuna is evil for the sake of evil but that makes him so very boring. the anime established already he is a walking death sentence, but unlike other villains it doesnt feel tense or scary when he is on screen. but mahito oh my god mahito, he has more plottarmor than fucking naruto or sasuke combined.
Am I insane or is everyone coping when they say this episode is "peak"? Like the season is undoubtly getting worse and worse as it goes on, visually anyway. Dont get me wrong, the conditions of the animators is down right fucking evil, but to call this "peak jjk" almost undermines what they are capable of when the higher ups at MAPPA dont bottleneck their process.
@@saitama53034 I sincerely think it isn't an overreaction. That first interaction between Todo and Mahito had one good cut, ONE. The rest was horrible. I watched a video recently that was saying that when Mahito grabs the ceiling, it was a nice touch that the background was just brown because it was like they were moving so fast the background couldn't keep up. That is pure cope. That scene was extremely bad and not what I've come to expect from a series like jjk. Even in this episode, you can see what the animation SHOULD look like in scenes like when the fall through the floor of the subway, Miwa's goodbye to Mechamaru, Todo's/Yuji's blackflash, or the end scene with Mahito's large scale attack. I fucking love the story and characters of JJK and I just wish the series didn't have to be tainted for no other reason than greed.

Gege will make it 100 times worst after the Cullen Game arc and the poorly written death he wasted on one particular character.
i cant stand mahito, he is so annoying, just die already. yuji is such a punching bag. and i know sukuna is evil for the sake of evil but that makes him so very boring. the anime established already he is a walking death sentence, but unlike other villains it doesnt feel tense or scary when he is on screen. but mahito oh my god mahito, he has more plottarmor than fucking naruto or sasuke combined.
Am I insane or is everyone coping when they say this episode is "peak"? Like the season is undoubtly getting worse and worse as it goes on, visually anyway. Dont get me wrong, the conditions of the animators is down right fucking evil, but to call this "peak jjk" almost undermines what they are capable of when the higher ups at MAPPA dont bottleneck their process.
This ep was good there were very little bad parts in this ep ur just overreacting due to mappa incident

@@saitama53034 I sincerely think it isn't an overreaction. That first interaction between Todo and Mahito had one good cut, ONE. The rest was horrible. I watched a video recently that was saying that when Mahito grabs the ceiling, it was a nice touch that the background was just brown because it was like they were moving so fast the background couldn't keep up. That is pure cope. That scene was extremely bad and not what I've come to expect from a series like jjk. Even in this episode, you can see what the animation SHOULD look like in scenes like when the fall through the floor of the subway, Miwa's goodbye to Mechamaru, Todo's/Yuji's blackflash, or the end scene with Mahito's large scale attack.
I fucking love the story and characters of JJK and I just wish the series didn't have to be tainted for no other reason than greed.
Respectfully nah, JJK since about episode 16 has just been absolutely ridiculous in regards to great animation which is surprising considering how terrible the animators working conditions are.
