I'm glad the Netflix adaptation does a better job of matching the "beautifully grotesque" art style Itagaki's manga demonstrates, even if it's sometimes kind of an action slideshow.
I just love Baki as a whole, its one of those things that takes itself serious and does the most absurd things at the same time. I only wish more time was spent on making the animation better overall but I heard the studio was on a strict time schedule
@@thredligut2288 I honestly dont think Kengan goes as silly as Baki does. Like yeah its got the super muscular contortionist dude and a guy that scrambles your heart by touching your chest but its nowhere near as goofy as baki's caveman, magic zombie samurai, punching the ground to stop an earthquake, magical chinese healing method of eating your body weight in food and then drinking 4 gallons of sugar water bullshit lol Which is a good thing. Its nice that they both have relatively unique feels and I love em both for it.
To be honest, the characters and music are the best part of the show. They're so memorable like Jack Hanma, Biscuit Oliva, Spec, etc. The music goes genuinely hard.
I love Baki, the only thing i do not appreciate is how the author has a clear bias towards japanese and asian martial arts in general. But it is something i put aside due to the sheer amount of crazy stuff and ideas and the passion he has towards martial arts.
Retsu decided to save Doyle because he is proud and honourable. In Doyle's mind, he had more or less accepted that he was going to die and saw it as Retsu giving him what he truly sought; defeat. As a token of gratitude Doyle watched over Retsu because he respects him. Once Retsu woke up and saw that someone even as despicable as Doyle would willingly give their life to protect him, Retsu couldn't in good conscience not do the bare minimum of reciprocating the gesture. That is just how Retsu's mind operates. It's also a first step for Doyle's redemption. He was still in denial when he blew up the dojo but the conflict inside him had already started.
Baki was genuinely one of the most enjoyable manga reads I've ever had. It's absurd, funny, bizarre, but often strangely understandable. Behind all the weirdness and bizarreness, there are things of value to be appreciated in Baki. Baki is a martial arts fiction that is fully aware that it is fiction. Also, Maximum Tournament is PEAK 🔥
You need to hustle up to the pickle arc it’s about the same level of oh shit as the prisoners, the stuff in between is really good but pickle is where the show really peaks next with that intensity
I hope you've seen kengan ashura too. Its all CGI, but its done really well imo, gives it a more realistic feeling. And no, im not claiming kengan ahsura is realistic lol. But its definitely worth watching if you haven't already
@@Mugen01U GOTTA READ THE MANGA. netflix made an adaptation recently but its animated almost entirely in cgi and they cut a lot of important scenes. im not saying its not worth checking out tho, the animated choreography is extremely realistic and was very well done. the manga is just a far better representation of the series
I feel like Baki gives the same vibe as Dragon Ball, from how the story progresses in just completely random arcs that all some how make sense down to the hate both get with it, I think that’s why both will forever be top 3 anime for me
"The series" is still ongoing to this day with a new chapter releasing this thursday. It just takes a very long time to adapt hundreds of chapters of a manga into an anime. I don't know if anything is hard-confirmed or not, but I don't think Netflix is finished with Baki.
It's not even the first season. They literally just picked up where the old anime left off it's actually kind of weird. That's why all these characters are introduced as though you already know them because they've already been introduced.
@@chicken29843 you're right it was just a long time gap and the animation has gotten better that I said it was the first season. I didn't watch the og baki the grappler, but I def enjoyed this season
You said they didn’t hold back on the sex scene. Bro read the manga version which was so extreme it isn’t in the actual manga series. It’s a gaiden. As in the author had to release it separately, so basically he made a Baki hentai. And bro Netflix version is so tame after you read that. Like they cut out the pussy POV and the 19+50 part
why everyone doing review on baki aways talks about only the first arc wich is the most awful go make a video about bakidou sumo arc or father vs son fight
I think the convicts arc is fine. There needed to be something after the Maximum Tournament to further flesh out all the characters it introduced en masse (Katsumi, Retsu, Shibukawa, Jack, etc.). We got to know their past, and now it was time to see them act in the present and in real life. "The true meaning of defeat" was a cool idea I enjoyed seeing explored and I think a blatantly antagonistic force that put the main cast back on the same side was justified for being there. Baki does have weak parts, but I don't think it has any outright bad parts.
bro has poor taste, google artstyle. you probably only watched mainstream media like a sheep with no opinions on things and only conforms to whats new.
Bro baki narrator can say you can breathe underwater because we humans are somehow related to frogs and shit id prolly believe him💀

That "fear sikorsky" ost is top 3. Has no reason to go that hard.

Wait till he finds out about "Baki hanma" (the standalone show thats a continuation of 2016 Baki)
