Any update on this project? I'm looking at doing a similar build with a RT91 amplifier powering the transmit radio. Your project is huge at influencing mine!
I’ve been at a stand still with it. I’ve been having trouble with the duplexer. Even when I was using a diplexer for crossband it didn’t work great. Tx range was about 2 miles on a 5 element beam at about 30 foot. I’m still working on fixing it.
Give us an update? One issue can be the front end of the Rx radio can get over loaded by the Tx signal mire of an issue with SOC (system on a chip) receivers. Try using a Rx radio with a duel conversion receiver (super heteodyne ) cant wait to see who it turns out.
Would the RX radio being a SH receiver (like the Wouxun KG-S88G for example) fix the overloading? I'm playing around with the idea of a SH RX radio and then a TX radio amplified by a RT91 before the duplexer to get a little more oomph. This has been the closest project to what I'm thinking of.
Keep us in the loop as to how well it does.
