because for many years I watched J-vloggers from North America [where I'm from], Europe & Africa on a regular basis. and considering the diversity of topics? not one of them ever mentioned the Jamaica Festival - let alone that it happens every year in multiple cities there!🤦🏾‍♀
I also don't recall learning there was a Japanese Rasta music & food culture.
and good on who made sure to also include the history about many Jamaican heroes, that's fantastic!
and oh!, I would have been so upset if I learned about this AFTER I had finally visited Japan!
thank god I found out! now I'll consider the calendar dates more meticulously when planning out my first few visits and summertime seems like the right time!👍
    thanks for the education!🙋🏾‍♀🙂

      Good greetings beenz6795
With raspect..depends what your concept of rasta is.
Jamaican dancehall birthed around 1970’s from the womb of reggae as a child of reggae culture that came into it’s own persona.
Reggae cannot be separated from “rasta”.
Reggae is a child of the village that raised it. Primarily, “rasta culture” calling for “equal rights and justice for everyone.”
Also; Jamaican drum & base from Nyabinghi & buru drumming. Ska, Rocksteady, Kumina, Mento, Pukkumina, Revival Zion. Even miss lou (jamaican poet, folklorist) helped in the village to raise the child..called Reggae whose grandchild is now called “dancehall. Peace & Bliss.

I realized no one is aware that we black people are not aware of the pirate of our culture, and here every one just saying yeah to them in approvals soon they will say the culture is not Jamaicans anymore, and teach that they are the true descendants, like the Chinese woman who said they can turn back the descendants of the children of Jamaicans born abroad we are too welcoming this is how black people was colonised,

Interesting take. Do you think that is possible in this day and age with so much access to information and how connected everyone is?

@PetrinaJennings You're ABSOLUTELY RIGHT! We, as BP, must learn to stop opening our arms and gatekeep our culture. The other folks constantly copy, paste, then claim themselves as creator and owner the moment they insert themselves and put their paws in it. The people who are here making comments don't understand that those folks love BP's culture, but not the people. Right on about that Chinx woman and her BS. That's why Jamaicans need to stop this nonsense about "Out of Many One People." No BP can go anywhere in Asia, Europe, the Middle East, etc, with that concept, even if they were born there. A Black Filipino just won Miss Universe Philippines, and the Filipinos are saying that she's not Filipino. When will we learn?

Each was entertaining a dance troupe, but Group 2 was the closest culturally to Jamaican music and dance. (Second generation Jamaican American here!) So nice to see that the crowd loved them all. But the real test is the food…missing plantains 😂 Such a nice surprise to see this in Japan. Kudos to the organizers!

That's a big misconception. Also, you can't generalize something like that about an entire country. I'll be sharing more Japan content and you will be able to see the interactions I have with Japanese people. It might give you a different perspective. So hit the follow button if you're interested in that.

Even miss lou (jamaicn poet, folklorist) helped in the village to raise the child..called Reggae whose grandchild (the village grandchild) is now called “dancehall. Peace & Bliss.
