Whoever engineered this should be drug out into the street and made to fix it them selfs with only a leather man! Thank you for video! Have decided to run aftermarket leds instead of tearing apart my entire trunk.
Dealer in Australia wanted $363 for 1 led globe, got it from south Korea for $50 for globe & $50 postage, 7 working days to arrive, this video saved me lots of frustration lol.
Just replaced mine this weekend, and your video came in very handy. It's ridiculous that you have to do all that work just to replace a license plate light.🤦♂
I have one license plate light out as well as an HID ballast. NOT looking forward to removing the freaking front bumper cover AND half the trunk. Sigh. Seriously considering selling my Genesis after 8 years of ownership… just because of issues like this.
Thanks for the very informative and helpful video. Do you have a part number for the yellow clips or where you ordered them from. I am having a hard time finding that part. Thanks
actually i looked closer and see that it has to come off. It has a thin lip that makes it slightly bigger than the trip opening. smh what a pain in the ass.
@@CaneSwag83-01 I thought the same thing. If you are opening this up might as well do both lights even if one still works. I also have to replace my camera. I just have a blue screen now.
My light is out on my passenger back side. It my reverse light that's on my truck. How do i replace it or get it back working? I went and ordered a new head lamp but come to find out it didn't need to be replaced.
Hyundai as well as other auto makers make repairs like this difficult for a reason. Dealers make more money in their service departments than retail sales. By making what should be a simple repair difficult for the DIYer, it creates profitable work for dealer service departments. I will bet that those replacement lamps from the dealer are very pricey. I had a headlamp blow out on my G80 recently. The dealer wanted over $300 for the lamp plus about $200 in labor. I bought the lamp for under $100 from a local auto supply that was identical to the Hyundai unit. It was a real PITA, but after a lot of disassembly and a couple of hours, I had saved a bit over $400.
Hyundai and Kia are the masters of making everything difficult for no reason

That’s how they gonna make their money lmaoo
Let us know how it turned out!!
How did those aftermarket lights turn out?

Did anything snap on removal of any of the clips at any point?

Thank you, thank you, thank you! Someone said I might have to take off the body panel and I said No way. I'm going to give it a shot.
Good luck.
Thanks for the info, mate! Only info I could find on how to do this job.
My pleasure. Hopefully my video helps.
Very helpful! Worked exactly as you described
Glad to hear.
I also need to replace both of these leds on mine. I have them on hand but haven't installed them yet. Now I will lol. Cool channel 😎👍
Thank you. Just have some patience when you do it.
Thanks for the video. Whoever at Hyundai designed that needs to be sent to Guantanamo.🤬🤬
😳
Korean engineers drank too much soju and design led tag bulbs😂
Wild design.
Do you have a sunroof? Did you have to go thru a recalibration process for that since the battery was disconnected?
No recalibration needed.
Thank you I been looking how to do this job.
My please. Good luck and thank you for the view.
Holy crap that's involved! Looks like the stealership gonna get my money😩
Yeah it's definitely not easy. Don't know how much the dealership is charging nowadays. Thanks for the view.
Quoted me at $250. Absolute BS…
Thanks for the very informative and helpful video. Do you have a part number for the yellow clips or where you ordered them from. I am having a hard time finding that part. Thanks
Part number is 81723 B1000 (18:48 on the video)You can find them at hyundaipartsdeal.com. Thanks for the view.
So, how long did the entire job take you from start to finish? What did you do about the broken clip?
Job took about an hour. I used double-sided 3m automotive tape.
The last piece of trim that sits right on top of the lights does not need to come off no? Can't the light push through the trim?
actually i looked closer and see that it has to come off. It has a thin lip that makes it slightly bigger than the trip opening. smh what a pain in the ass.
Big pain, but if you want to save some money it's worth it. I would change out both so you don't have to do it twice. Thanks for the view.

@@livennlearn camera is easy to replace. No need to take off cover. Rubber piece pops out and you can pop back in.
Thanks a lot, your video was very helpful, Harry, Halifax Nova Scotia.
Glad I could help. Thank you for the view.

Could be a bad wire in the wire harness.
So, in other words……..have the dealer install them!
Dealer install is the other option. Not sure how much they charge. Have them do both at the same time. Thanks for the view

Ugh gotta do this at some point not looking forward to it
Dealer wants to charge $900 to replace the left bulb. I'll refer to this video to try it myself.
Best of luck
There’s no way around taking the whole thing apart? 😩
Unfortunately no. This is the only way to get access to the bulbs.
Dude what....just bought a g80 and noticed one side was out...im about to bring it back 😒
Smart move
AN additional person to help film so we could see some of the steps would have been nice.
I totally agree.
Welp..looks like im gon be out 75 bucks
What a piece of over engineered crap Never buy a Hyundai
😂😂😂😂 it’s a premium vehicle.
Yup. It was a pain.
