My little brother and I have been playing Halo since the first Xbox came out. We've been halo fans for years and grew up playing it. Halo 3 was our favorite game to play, and b4 there was Xbox live, we would play Halo 3 campaign. And when we had the first Xbox, we would always just kill each other and it was fun. Those were good times. Halo 4 was our next favorite. I remember trying to beat it on hard mode but I failed miserably, though I did get father than I realized. My fiance loves Halo more than almost anything. I can say with confidence he has one of the most impressive Halo collections to exist. It's something I love about him. I'm a computer science major who makes games in my free time, and I've grown up loving games. Playing video games with people is honestly my love language, and I love bonding with him while playing Halo together. All this said, I never looked into the series despite knowing it's powerful impact on the industry. So thank you for making videos like this, which are easy to digest and gives me a great start in knowing more about the game, both for helping my future career, and making my love happy :)
Halo 2 will forever be the best halo installment imo. So much story and character development. Halo 4 and especially halo 5 were just bad. Yes graphics were great. However, when I played them I never felt it did justice to the halo franchise. Crazy how this might have all been different if Bungie would have stayed.
@@RegenerationOffical I like it. It’s better than halo 5 for sure. It feels like a halo game again imo. Multiplayer is fun, when it works lol. They need more maps and guns and obviously need to sort out all the bugs, but overall it’s good. I love the campaign, it has a decent story and the open world is different and fun. Reminds me of Zelda in a sense. There are issue with infinite but I think the pros outweigh the cons. Hopefully future updates will address these, and dlcs will hopefully add new stuff.
I started the Halo franchise when 3 was released and I managed to the play 1 an 2 but couldn't understand the story as I was a little young. Thank you for filling in the gaps as I've never player halo wars 1 or 2.
So I honestly never liked any of the Halo games until Infinite on the Series X. I gave it a shot and have absolutely loved it. This had encouraged me to go back and play all of the previous games and learn more about the lore and what not. Overall I can’t believe I ever ignored these games, they’re so amazing!
I remember Halo being one of the first games I ever got and I was too young to understand it so I tried returning it but the guy at game stop plugged in my xbox and showed me how to play. Long story short been a gamer for almost 20 years now thanks to tht guy wanting his commission haha
So many childhood memories. Just collected all 12 skulls in Infinite and about to play the campaign on Legendary with all of them active. Had to watch this before just to bring it all back. Thank you for the great video
Loved it. Thanks so much for the recap. Growing up playing halo ., I was very young to fully understand the massive story. This makes so much sense. Thank you
Looked up the voice cast because 1. I’ve never played ODST or 5, and 2. Edward looks just like Nathan Fillion. And it’s him! He alone is a reason for me to play these games as I’m a fan of everything he does lol.
19:30 Master Chief isn't they only spartan on the Pillar of Autumn. Spartan 058 Linda is also on the ship but was thrown into a cryopod due to taking plasma burst and shots to the back and to the head. John froze her in the cryopod and after blowing up installation 04 he found her pod floating in space and rescued her. She was later revived.
Halo reach still my fav. From the campaign, to the multiplayer and the ost. I felt in love with that game the moment i heard the title screen music for the first time.
Thank you for an excellent recap! I've played them all, but some I never replayed and I was quite young when I did. My memory wasn't far off. however this clarified much confusion I had. Now im diving into the infinite campaign. I haven't been this excited about a campaign in general for a long time. Long Live Halo.
Thank you for putting this together. I’ve beaten every halo game except halo wars two and halo infinite but I barely remembered a lot of it. So this was a great revisit 😂
I still remember when HALO 1st launched. It was Microsoft's baby for their new X-box console. Which joined forces with SONY to throw Nintendo into the back seat. It was a massively successful game that (imo) topped the 1st person shooter franchise overnight. From jumping 20 feet, the super suit with shield, the Loosey goosey warthog, Sticky plasma grenades, the game had it all! But the thing that got me the most. Was when the story changed, and the game got real. Suddenly you went from being superman to the flood showing up and you're on your heels trying to survive. Especially if you tossed it on hardcore!
Man I wish I understood the story when I played it as a kid, I always thought chief died after the end of halo 3 literally cried once😂😂😂 glad to know I felt like that for nothing
Wow....watched this because I started playing Infinite Campaign and was lost as I played none of the previous games....grad this solved none of my questions and produced more...

I'm completely open to a conversation about the topic because I must think very differently from everyone else, because I really cannot find an issue with Halo 4 and Halo 5's narrative. If anything, they both dive even deeper into the lore of the Halo universe and carry on the story even further. The events of Halo 4 are really rather astounding and deep. I can understand the gameplay itself of Halo 5 being a little bit annoying because of the Warden popping up what felt like every 5 minutes, but again the story of it all carrying on from Halo 4 is incredibly expansive and to me, rather compelling. Is it because there's this seemingly newfound "illness" that Cortana has to deal with, or is there an issue new "beings" being introduced that weren't before mentioned, like the Guardians or the Didact? Or that all along Master Chief has been this chosen one who was meant to be the savior of everything? To me all of that drives the narrative even further with how much it expands the story, even if it does come out of nowhere. I really fail to see the problem with it all.
my issue with 5 is how they split the focus and made it squad based it felt wrong the fact you get maybe 4 missions as master chief and the majority was locke and then felt wrong too I don't mind a split story if both sides have equal showing but that's not what happened it's not even close
A great multiplayer mode for halo would be to use the conquest mode in battlefield but with the halo twist and you can choose to become a marine, odst or any other regiments as well as other teams like the covenant would be cool
Great video weaving together the entire lore of the games series! To this day I believe Halo is a game that is primarily dedicated to its campaign mode. The story is rich and captivating! It’s sad that all we have really gotten so far is the paramount plus halo tv show. Really could make one hell of a movie series out of this.
Solid video, but at about 5:26 you call Sabres covenant ships… just a heads up! Seraphs are the covenant fighters, sabres were pioneered by the UNSC. Edit: shoot, found another one at 42:00 where ODST’s are misidentified, the D in ODST stands for drop, not deep!
Saw this too. Kat makes a point of saying that Noble 6 already has experience in flying the Sabres in his classified past. The Sabres and the base they're in don't technically exist publicly 👀
8:05 Loved Reach. The only thing I didn't like about it was that everyone, even Halsey, walked with the exact same overexaggerated swagger. Seems like a small thing but it always stuck out to to me.
Im new to the halo world just finished infinite and before that guardians i thought both were awesome but playing them i got into the story and this video was awesome to help me understand. I might be going backwards but im excited to play the rest of the games and they're all on game pass so im psyched thanks for the story line and order to go!!!
Well, im still incredibly confused as to how weapon came into being and what happened to cortana..... and in general, the entire story is still pretty confusing to me..... but I DO feel a bit better prepared to play infinite.
I really needed this video to explain how we got to Halo Infinite. I only got to very casually play some of the previous games via a younger brother. Now I actually have time to devote to it, and am hooked. ~ YiHongtian
I'm trying to work on a fanfic focused on the Dydact and Cortana, as they not only help each other regain at least a little of their sanity, but also try to figure out "What now ?". I know how I want the story to end, with them taking control over the last seeds of the Primordial race (there's a book in which sergeant Forge's daughter finds those seeds and plants them in a shield planet of the Forerunners) in an attempt to learn from the revived race how to control the hearts and souls of people throught non-belic methods (they believe that despite them raising these Primordials, eventually they'll simply acquire the knowledge the original race had, and they wish to learn from that knowledge in order for them to evolve themselves). But I don't know who their enemy could be or how they could arrive on that planet.

What’s your opinion on infinite
THANKS for dropping this at the beginning of the work day :)
42:00 here is a big mistake! ODST means Orbital Drop Shock Trooper not a Orbital Deep Shock Trooper.
Yeah there was a couple of lore issues like calling the sabre a "covenant sabre" :/
I just rewatched firefly and serenity this past weekend. The greatest show ever canceled.
After finishing Halo Infinite, I am wanting to understand the Halo story with more cohesion. Glad I found this!
Thank you for this clear cut, neat and very useful recap :) Watching this now before beginning Halo Infinite campaign :)
Kat dying by a single sniper shot to the head is so believable in Legendary difficulty
Exactly what I was needing to get back into halo. Thank you kindly for the uploading this
.
I love how I never understood any of this as a kid but somehow knew this was something special
Halo CE is still my favorite..I love the mystique aspect of it
Idk why this doesn't have more likes. Pure gold. Ty for this recap :3
Great recap of the whole Halo story, very much appreciated for the upload 👍🏻
I love the lore but videos like this that refresh what you know is great. Thank you for the time and effort
Thanks for not forgetting about Halo Wars ❤
Thank you for putting this together. I’ve beaten every halo game except halo wars two and halo infinite but I barely remembered a lot of it. So this was a great revisit 😂
Do halo infinite on legendary.
@@claytonbeauchamp6995 infinite on legendary is easy
@@nestorix100 how many times you died?
@@claytonbeauchamp6995 a lot of times but if it isnt your first time and you know what you are doing I think it's pretty doable
Succinct and informative summary of the saga so far. Thank you for all the hard work that went into this
I was born in 03 so I didn't understand halo being only 4 when halo 3 came out but this helped me understand it better👍🏻
Reach was the best imo such a classic, amazing story to set it off.
That's what I damn need right now. All the hype about halo infinite campaign is killing me.
Dutch’s mission in odst is my favorite mission in any halo game.
Man I wish I understood the story when I played it as a kid, I always thought chief died after the end of halo 3 literally cried once😂😂😂 glad to know I felt like that for nothing
Just started the infinite campaign and so far I'm throughly enjoying it
PERFECTO! It really shows that you guys do put in so much work. May you channel blow up like crazy in 2022!
Idk they messed up the name of the game lmao “Orbital DEEP Shock Trooper”?
@@jacksonjacksoff It was the other way around for the Humans and Forerunners. The Forerunners didn't listen to the Humans about the Flood.
@@nikolascook5146 ?
Wow....watched this because I started playing Infinite Campaign and was lost as I played none of the previous games....grad this solved none of my questions and produced more...
Dammit man, I shouldn't have watched this. Now I have to start at reach and play through halo 5 again, for the 100th time. Well played.
thanks for this. as a dad I barely have time to play infinite let alone the mastercheif collection over again. bravo
Exactly.. awesome recap video then on to play infinite
Thanks for putting this together! Funny how much I had missed in the actual story while playing thru every game )except the 2 wars and odst.)
dude I recommend ODST it's amazing and shows a different side of the war
@@YEETUSDAFEETUS it always comes highly recommended! I’m sure it’s great, I just love playing as Spartans. It’s so surface level I know- I just have a hard time buying in.
@@chrisperrywv honestly I understand that but that's why I recommend it so much because you're just an elite soldier put in some serious shit and I love seeing buck earn a spartanship although I think they all earned it lol
@@YEETUSDAFEETUS I totally didn’t know that happened on the game. Haha. I knew he was in ODST, but I never knew it led him to become a spartan. Haha. Good ol Nathan Fillion
@@chrisperrywv very good talk about a promotion lol and I don't think it was just new Mombasa that led to it he was a veteran of many battles and that's spartan material not only survive but to also complete your mission against a city of enemies is a helluva thing lol
Carter's sacrifice was so critical in the story and so badass. Unbelievable
Currently on my lunch break watching this
Amazing job on this very detailed looking forward to playing Infinite with my family.
Not coop
@@darthcupcake3845 Not sure if the story mode is co-op or not haven't played Halo before and my older cousin just got the game.
Won't be co-op at launch, but will have it added in down the road. You will get the chance!
@@BurningFlamesofDivineDragon so halo inf will get coop later buttttt u can play multiplayer for free together just not campaign coop
35:43 Penitent Tangent wasn't corrupted by the flood, he just procrastinated at his job and let them overrun his forces.
I'm gonna say the way we seem him corrupted is a good description
Thank you for this. I guess I shouldnt have skipped all those cut scenes.
I remember skipping school with friends jus to play these, sad we don't talk anymore I'm just here to reminisce
A great multiplayer mode for halo would be to use the conquest mode in battlefield but with the halo twist and you can choose to become a marine, odst or any other regiments as well as other teams like the covenant would be cool
Halo is halo, battle field is battle field dude
@@CHR1S_831 no they can evolve stop being some purist dude that game mode would be so much fun
I just started playing halo infinite I completed the first mission and was like “ok I need to watch a re cap video”
theres litrally no point they have tossed pretty much everything aside and started a new thing there isnt even any trace of cortanas army
I've watched this like 5 times now and I will continue to do so
Solid video, but at about 5:26 you call Sabres covenant ships… just a heads up! Seraphs are the covenant fighters, sabres were pioneered by the UNSC.
Edit: shoot, found another one at 42:00 where ODST’s are misidentified, the D in ODST stands for drop, not deep!
Yeah those were some rookie mistakes
Saw this too. Kat makes a point of saying that Noble 6 already has experience in flying the Sabres in his classified past. The Sabres and the base they're in don't technically exist publicly 👀
Also a bit before 54 minutes where he states that Master Chief convinces Hood that Cortana "can't" be trusted
minor errata around 5:34 -- the Saber was not a covenant vehicle they commandeered... though they used it to go do that.
-Covenant Sabre? Its a UNSC Sabre.
-The Pillar of Autumn was crumbling around them, not the ring itself.
-Orbital DROP shock trooper, not DEEP.
This was a great breakdown. I appreciate your time and probably study time it took you.
8:05 Loved Reach. The only thing I didn't like about it was that everyone, even Halsey, walked with the exact same overexaggerated swagger. Seems like a small thing but it always stuck out to to me.
the over exaggerated swagger of a black teen perhaps
I didn't remember he convoluted the 4th and 5th games were. Thanks for putting this together.
I feel like bungie did an excellent job with the story.
Im new to the halo world just finished infinite and before that guardians i thought both were awesome but playing them i got into the story and this video was awesome to help me understand. I might be going backwards but im excited to play the rest of the games and they're all on game pass so im psyched thanks for the story line and order to go!!!
You thought halo five was awesome?
Orbital. DROP. Shock. Trooper.
Not orbital deep shock trooper. But otherwise great video. Really informative
I’ve been playing since halo 3 when I was 5, I really didn’t keep up story wise but this video helped a lot
I always though Kat's death was pretty... MIND BLOWING
I hate this and love this at the same time
I’m so happy this is actually chronological order
I’m just going to point out, whatever narrative weaknesses it might have, Halo 4’s Cortana is clearly the hottest.
…but halo 5’s Cortana was….NOT so hot.
@@prettyboy1970 We agree.
I love how in Reach it fully lets you kill all your military teammates
Well, im still incredibly confused as to how weapon came into being and what happened to cortana..... and in general, the entire story is still pretty confusing to me..... but I DO feel a bit better prepared to play infinite.
I really needed this video to explain how we got to Halo Infinite. I only got to very casually play some of the previous games via a younger brother. Now I actually have time to devote to it, and am hooked. ~ YiHongtian
I never knew the tech storyline honestly. That’s pretty fucking sick
I didn’t like halo 4 much as a game, but Chief’s armor looked so badass
