@@jaydeeznuts6052 they probably was going to show it off during the time where they was contemplating adding ads but since they scrapped that idea (probably due to all the backlash) Netflix games just flew under the radar.
I heavily doubt this will stick around. Between the lack of advertising and already existing competition it doesn't look great. Additionally there's the fact that most people are already tied to one or two sources for their games. Steam, GOG, Epic Games Store and the like might not necessarily offer the exact same service, but they do offer a bunch of different opportunities to save lots of money on games, especially if you throw key sellers into the mix and of course there's all the other passes. Having more games than you have time to play is already something people run into on the regular, I don't think many would pay a monthly fee to have *even more of them.* Streaming Services are struggling to deal with the problem of people not wanting to pay for so many different subscriptions, I just can't see a world where this project doesn't face the same issue.
@@Akshonesports I'd say it's their best bet, at least right now. There are loads of ways to enter the gaming market, but Netflix is shooting for big titles and big money, and getting into that specific part of the gaming industry is incredibly hard. Buying studios is nice and all, but I just don't think it's enough to secure a proper foothold. So yeah, I'd say piggybacking off of popular projects is the way to go and if they handle it well it can put them on the map. It doesn't really solve the problem of being yet another streaming service, but I'd say having the credibility and know-how from an established big developer with a strong product is better than trying to kickstart something yourself.
I thought Netflix games was just mobile shovelware, but when I looked at their catalogue I saw some great indies like Moonlighter and Into the Breach! Hopefully they lean more into the direction of supporting mobile ports of indies rather than small mobile games.
I didn’t know Netflix games was a thing till about a month ago when I was randomly browsing the app for some movies to watch. Wasn’t really impressed. 🤷🏽♂️
Tried applying for a local game company recently. When I applied it took me to a Netflix page. I initially thought it was a scam, but later found out the company was bought out by Netflix to make games, crazy as that sounds
"We're struggling to compete with Disney and Amazon with our existing streaming service, so we're going to try to compete with Apple and Google with a completely new games service that has a separate subscription."
They should probably have a separate storefront for their mobile games, seeing the ads for it on the Netflix app worries subscribers who are already nervous about Netflix adding ads.
It makes sense why they've been very lowkey about this since they haven't been in the games industry for too long and still trying to figure things out. I'm not sure if they even want to compete with others cause so far they've mostly focused on mobile games. I will say though that Poinpy surprisingly became one of my favorite games I played this year lol. Very well made and tightly wrapped up game design wise.
I would be down if they started paying to make ports of titles that would excel on a pocketable platform. Stuff like the Messenger, Crosscode, etc. Things that feel like I could pop them into my gba and play. But I am also more willing to turn my phone into a controller than most.
Really wether it fails or succeds depends on if they release more "Into the breach" type games and less shitty generic mobile ones i can get for free on the store anyway. Really i think people dont realize this is actually pretty good, being able to play itb on my phone without having to buy it again (i have it on pc) and not worrying about having to potentially buy it a 3rd time if i changed which phone brand i use is great
Counterpoint: Many, many people would rather spend the at most $10 Into the Breach would probably cost if it were sold standalone than buy a Netflix sub just to have it. If you don't already have a Netflix sub (like me) then Netflix would need to make a *lot* of quality titles to convince me to come on board for Netflix Gaming.
Hardcore indie gaming on the phone is a very niche market. I have a Switch for that sort of thing. A lot of indie games wouldn't even work well with touch controls. Imagine playing Hollow Knight on your phone.
Been wanting Gamepass to do this forever. Very glad netflix stepped into the space. Mobile gaming has come a long way and there are so many games id rather play on a phone
Anyone actually heard about Netflix Games before this video came out? I actually laughed when I saw the title until I realized that they started making games back in early 2021
Up until now I thought netflix games referred to those pseudo-game videos like that trivia crack licensed thing. This is just hilarious, why would I want to pay netflix for junkware I don't want on my phone?
X Cloud and PS Now are both literally right there.. while the majority of the games on that Netflix service is just the same mobile games i could buy on my phones market place and just own with a couple exceptions of course but is that really worth it? i don't think so.
The whole thing about Netflix Games that turns me off over something like Google Play Pass is that many of the Netflix mobile games *cannot be purchased standalone* and requires you to have the Netflix sub to continue playing. It's such a blatant manipulation that it turns what should be a cool bonus with a Netflix subscription to an "EGS Exclusive" level force that I don't want to deal with. Imo a game that's "Netflix Games Exclusive" hasn't really come out yet, and I'm just going to wait until I can actually buy it before I play ball.
Well, if you buy it just for the games it’s a NO big as a house, but if you buy for tv shows and you get those games… well im all in for that, i have some of them installed and being abl to play them with the same subscription is great
The reason Google and Apple have a duopoly on mobile game marketplaces is that mobile gaming doesn't have a big enough place in people's lives for them to consider getting games anywhere but the pre-installed market app on their phone. Furthermore, the most hardcore mobile gamers don't need something like Netflix Games because they're mobile gamers, not just gamers, and their focus in what kinds of games they play is totally different, to the extent that they can easily find whatever game they want by scrolling the app store. There just isn't a real market for specialized mobile gaming, because the whole defining concept of "mobile gaming" is that it's easy and generalized. Maybe it would be cool to see a real gaming niche pop up on mobile devices, but it feels kind of useless to me. Shoehorning desktop experiences into a mobile device just seems like it's bound to produce lackluster results.
I really really like some of the games from netflix games. Even though some of them have bugs that can disrupt the gaming experience I still think it's safe to say that Netflix games have a chance to succeed. Though they really need to ramp up their advertisement for the games.
"We are still figuring out what things are going to actually resonate with our members. What games people want to play." So uuh that's what you usually figure out before if I'm nor wrong lol
I seriously don't understand people. Netflix offers a possibility of games for "free" (with the same subscription flee, that means), mobiles games free of the freemium model and people want to complain and desire the service do fail. Sometime people just want to be haters.

games are being made in bulk, to be sub par in performance, so that the market can force prices at an all time low and new competitors will be deterred from making large investments into new consoles and gaming titles. Large investments in a seemingly poor economy is unheard of. "if the current market leaders can't do it, we stand no chance".
The first step is about marketing and giving a reason why people would use their game service. Adding game with large player base into their collection, and give certain bonus when hsing their app is during launch is a good strategy. Went straight into game making, instead of advertising their platform is a dead move. Mobile gaming is saturated already.
I hate people spreading the lie that Subscription gaming is cheaper than just buying the game. Most gamers I know will not spend $60 because they're are zero games WORTH $60. Instead they will wait for a sale or just play cheaper indie games.
I have no opinion on it, I was playing Stranger Things Puzzle Tales but the company that owned it Next games I think it was got bought out and the game is supposed to transfer over to Netflix with a bunch of changes. I'd like to see how it pans out then maybe idk branch off into other categories.

Do they have a game studio team? Video game is not movie or shows. Netflix should pay you for this video. Probably almost everyone who watched this video had no idea that they made games
This could maybe work if Netflix is willing to do a huge promotional push. They should give Netflix users a nice discount once they reach 50 games.
