One reason Sam might not have played "his best" that night was due to his OWN leg being wrenched at the hands of an OS player the week before. It was a blatant penalty that was not called or even addressed as Leonard's was. If you look closely, Sam is still limping from that, but just went on, did what he needed to do, without moaning, whining or pointing fingers. I'm hoping he's back to snuff at Louisville.

LOL what would you know about "for men" btw he still barely made it there even without any defense expecting it. He's clearly not a universal QB which mean no talent no one is anymore QB wise in football. I remember when QBs could throw & scramble block when needed & even tackle in the event of an interception. Now even in the last 20 years you have qbs like brady who cant do anything especially without talented blocks cry foul anytime someone lays a finger on them & throw just as many interceptions as complete passes. When brady & any qb in the last 30 years they just watch the ball get intercepted & the run back assuming one of the other guys will make the stop & either way the qb then blames his team mates either not blocking or for not catching the ball & we all know brady had no accuracy or arm especially in clutch moments.

One thing that pisses me off about some of these underdog schools losing is them changing their play style late in the game. Anytime that Hartman was pressured he would throw an almost-interception or an incompletion, and you just stop doing that on 4th and 16 with the game on the line? Every competent coach in the country knows that prevent defense is a terrible idea unless the last play has to be a Hail Mary, especially when you can just do what you did for the first 3 downs and win the game. It's hard to feel proud of Duke for competing against ND when they lose like this. Disappointing is a heavy understatement, and I feel like this game is going to define the rest of their season like last year when Syracuse started 6-0, lost to Clemson, and finished the season 7-6.

Right before Note Dame converted on the 4th and 16, the announcers says that what I love about Duke they are not afraid to blitz and put pressure , then when it was 4th down Duke only rushed 3 giving the Notre dame QB all the time in the world to look for a target and a huge running lane in front knowing he was a fast running athletic QB , I guess what I am thinking is your success in shutting down Notre dame in the second half came from putting pressure on the QB not giving him time to make accurate throws or decisions being unpredictable on defense but in the most crucial time of the game completely switch to a conservative by the book defensive plan, we see this all the time one team is winning with aggressive defense then lose by going prevent style giving up huge chunks of yardage in exchange for the clock but the other teams always seem to have just enough time to throw a TD pass or get into field goal range, I say if something is working the whole game and the other team can't stop it, why change in the last 2 minutes

I am a big Notre Dame fan but I am not happy with Coward Cross III intentionally injury Leonard’s leg. The last play of the game and he has to end like that…what a total dick move! What an extremely selfish player with no class!!! It really bothers me when defensive players intentionally hurt their opponents by falling on their legs! Now, it only benefits ND if Duke can win their remaining games, but without their starting QB that will definitely hurt their chances. As you can tell, I am really bothered by this play. Hey Cross remember this, “If you have integrity, nothing else matters. If you don’t have integrity, nothing else matters!”

I have never seen a team get away with that many holdings on one drive than ND did on that last drive there. There's a reason why Sam Hartman had 15 seconds in the backfield to run around, and it wasn't for lack of trying by the Duke defense who had played stout the entire night. When there is a minute left and the game is on the line, the officials *have* to call really bad bear hug holds. This weekend of officiating was so horrible, whether it be that or the LSU game or one of the three others.

In a sport that has been proven to have scripted plays, point spreads and outcome intentionally hurting players is always on the table.
I liked Howard Cross Jr. He came from New Hope HS in Ala. in the mid 80s. I got to see him in HS and he had a great career at Alabama and for the NY Giants. But the son is a punk and a thug. You could see how he turned his leg under Leonard's. Didn't have to do it had nothing to do with getting him on the ground or getting the ball loose. Like another thug, Lawrence Taylor did to several QBs. But then again the college game is as corrupt as the NFL and as the same stupid clock rules to boot. Maybe the same will get done to this little bastard.
