If you have a video on ben hogan's grip then you need to use his grip, this grip looked nothing like mr. Hogan's grip. He had a weak grip with long thumb on top of the shaft with his left hand. Also, you need to explain why he used that grip. At the British open in 53' , his drives landed in the same area of the fairway all four days. He had incredible distance control with every club in the bag.

He fought a big hook and ended up going a weaker grip.

Good video, I will try some of those ideas but a proper grip is the foundation of all that happens with a swing. Its always good starting with a neutral position then adjust from the swing results. As you say we all have different anatomy, hands arms posture. ❤️👍

Baseball grip is very similar, many hold a bat the wrong way in there palm, holding in your fingers gives you better control and it's a stronger grip.

Hogan did change his grip during his golfing life. He went gradually weaker until he settled on the weak/fade grip in the early 50s.

Your camera should be focusing on the hands. Zoom in at it. Not the body.

I used Five Lessons to retool my swing and what I discovered about the way Hogan suggested gripping, which is the Vardon grip done correctly is that it allows the club to turn over 180° through impact like a pin on a hinge, symmetrically, without causing the swing force to pull the hands further away from the body.
Also the part in this video about ALWAYS establishing the grip holding the club up in the air - out in front or shaft vertical - and focusing on how the pad of the trail hand overlaps the lead hand - not just on where the v’s point - causes the arms to counter rotate against each other as the club is lowered which twists the muscles, solidifies the arm triangle and increases grip pressure with out finger. The counter rotation also strengthens the grip, by rotating the palms downward.
When lowering the club don’t set the head dead on the ground. Let it hang like a pendulum while adjusting posture to find balance over the feet. That allows the club mass on the end of the shaft out over the ball to act like a counter balance allowing weight at static address to be biased more to heels with lower leg straight - as illustrated in the book - to get the legs leverage they need to push back equal to the force of the club at impact trying to pull toward ball and target.
WAGGLE! Waggle ensures wrist can freely move up and down (radial - ulnar deviation) and is a rehearsal of how to release the club head down with a hammer like action just before impact with the ball. Also sway a bit with the hips to get the hanging club moving forward and back while adjusting balance until it feels in perfect balance as it turns over in the hands hanging down in front of the body.

@@pauloverett8652 I started playing golf in 1983 and considered doing the PGA Instructor thing after retiring from the day job in 2007 after reading the PGA Manual of Instruction and dozens of other books written by tour pros to try to master the golf swing, but figured why spend two years and $20k when the goal isn’t the money but simply to help people better understand the golf swing by giving them new insights. If it only helps a few people I still consider it time well spent.

No mention on how tight you hold with the trail hand.
