CORRECTION: Players may only have and invest 5 cards at a time. "A PC can have up to five cards from the Deck of Destiny at any one time, but regardless of how many cards they invest, the cards collectively count only as a single item. In effect, one to five cards comprise a single invested “hand” that grants numerous effects. In this way, as the PCs discover more and more cards, they can customize their hand as needed, swapping cards out each time they Invest an Item."

I am just starting up a local PF group and I plan to run the Beginner Box > Abomination Vaults > Stolen Fate. I'm very excited to get into it!

Thank you for the review, I love your videos :) just have to correct you on the number of cards you can have invested, on pg 75 of The Choosing it states, that a PC can have up to 5 cards invested at the same time, but regardless of how many they have invested, it counts as a 1 single invested item a "hand of cards" that grants numerous effects.

It struck me recently that Stolen Fate is very similar to a lean and better balanced Age of Ashes. Both involve base building a base with a ring of portals that send you various places to deal with a villainous group tied to a somewhat deific figure ( in this case norns and prophecy)
This is not a negative thing and similarities are fine and can be great. They are still fairly distinct.

Great video! Yeah my thoughts with this campaign was to tie it in to Abomination Vaults (mostly because it is what I'm running) and that during the final encounter the big bad will be in possession of some of the cards and was trying to understand them to ensure victory. I don't have the books yet myself but it is a question of if my players are having enough fun to want to keep going with their characters after finishing Vaults. If they do I'm getting my grubby hands on this AP!

Thanks for another great overview! This series is so helpful. My plan is to run Abomination Vaults into Stolen Fate, so I hope you cover AV too.
Maybe you could do a video on GM tools/resources you use? I know the Archives of Nethys, but not a lot of PF2e specific resources for GMs. And I can't wait for your analysis of the remaster!

Thanks for the great video. I have been prepping to GM this starting July 11 and it looks like a really fun adventure. I love all the opportunities for role play and I also like the fact that no details were given on the NPC's in the Harrow Court because I have some ideas of my own involving the players backstories.

I’ve tied long term goals into Stolen Fate, death of Aroden, the missing Aeon Stones and the Kuhmaru tree disruption with Test of Starstone disfunction
I connect this from Menace > Troubles > Abomination > Stolen Fate

I am planning to use the same progression!
Though, before i dm Stolen Fate, I am going to DM The Harrowing as a prequel and bridge between AV and SF (I am even planning to put Wrin in the Harrowing too), then, I am going to let the players decide which characters they get to keep playing with

So an AP all about questions of free will vs destiny is largely linear? There is some irony in there somewhere.

Great review! The ending seems a forced and really undues all the players hard work over the adventure....not sure i like that. I might change, maybe allow the bad guy the ability to force betrayal within the group. Giving the players a chance to resist but they realise it is only a matter of time. Not sure but just teleporting them away seems like a hand wave to me.

I felt the same and asked the author of the final book about it in a discord and this was his response (I did ask him if I could post it outside the discord and he said yes).
"That's one of the things that the adventure ultimately deals with: determinism vs. free will. Ultimately, by playing a pre-written adventure, you have to adhere to the plot beats if you want to experience the story as is. However, PCs will always want to do the things they want.
The PCs losing cards is one of these pre-written events and forces the players onto rails for a bit, but we try to lessen the sting a bit. The PCs don't lose every single card, just most of them, so they can still play with their invested cards. The event leads the PCs toward the confrontation with the norns, which is where the determinism vs. free will debate comes into play. In a way, the PCs facing railroading is important to the story so the PCs know what a fully "locked in" fate feels like and they can use that experience as part of their argument for or against free will.
I understand that not every group will be happy with the scenario, so ultimately, it will be up to the GM to decide how they can alter things to lessen the blow. There is a "key" that the PCs require to face off with the final boss and there are probably ways to require the PCs to still go through the work of acquiring the key without needing to lose their cards." -Luis Loza

I dunno, Abomination is horrible, it's just a dungeon grind. Gatewalker sucks as well.
