Stealing mail from the usps is a felony. They need to be prosecuted as such. If nothing is happening to them then it goes to show just how lawless nyc is sadly.
Zillions Of Laws, ZERO ENFORCEMENT OF LAWS, THAT'S WHY THIS CONTINUES TO HAPPEN 🤬
The postal inspector or postmaster from each post office is supposed to be directly investigating these and you'll find that the DEI day to sit on their a$$ and collect a paycheck & I could care less
Yes, serious prison time!
more prison time doesnt work@@tommccourt1953

When I was little we had these places called stores. We also had people whose job it was to arrest criminals. The criminals would be locked up in a place called jail.
The good old days.
And people had shame.
Sounds like paradise.
Imagine
Wow! I read legends about this. I thought those were fantasies.
I had packages stolen at my last apartment, including cookies sent by my mom. Now, I have a doorman with a package room & there’s no way I’m giving that up in this city.
Sounds like you should leave out some poisoned cookies.
Your choice that you want to stay in a decaying craphole. And even after that you rather pay more to keep staying in that shithole instead of moving away
Wth is a doorman with a package room? Isnt the prob the criminal itself?
@@indexwell6546 having a doorman means there’s someone on the first floor who monitors who comes in & out & is at a desk. Think of it as like the person you meet when you get to a hotel. However, behind the desk there’s a room where the delivery people meet the doorman & that person receives the packages directly so they’re in a secure environment. I then retrieve anything delivered from there. So criminals are much less likely to steal from a setup like that. The stuff isn’t just sitting around & easily grabbed. The doorman gives me my package.
i eated those coockies by your mum, now iam going for you mom, be ready =)
We have a package room and a doorman that takes care of everything... I'm so thankful for it... it's a must in today's society....
😆 no issues here up north.. city life is no life
I used to, until Covid made the rental office go WFH.
That’s good .
yet you still stalk the news for here@@aliens_are-ghots
its not a must in today's society, just NYC and places that think and operate like it. i can leave my home for weeks at a time with the door unlocked and can guarantee all my packages will be there when i return as well as my house not burglarized.
”The City has a new plan..” is always a beginning of something that ranges from ”not-gonna-work” to ”total disaster”! -E.K.
but one thing is for sure: it will cost people millions and millions
Followed by, “The plan didn’t work, so, we’re gonna expand and spend even more money on it!”.
Problem is the people who create the problems are the ones who claim to be the solution for the problem.
The new plan like less police and no criminal prosecution.
@@RoniiNN Democrats have 2 responses to crime; more gn laws on top of other failed gn laws and build libraries.
"They're not robbing the trucks, not yet anyway" spoken like a New Yorker 😂
Tren de Aragua coming to a truck near you this summer!
But they are, they have stolen delivery trucks, Uhauls, ambulances even 💙🙏🏻💙
Yes they rob the Trucks in Canarsie Brooklyn.. the Jewish neighborhoods packages don't get stolen
That what mobsters used to do.
It's not nearly as common as stealing and looting, but it does happen occasionally
New Yorker in Queens here. It's bad, been bad for years. I always run down and grab my stuff as soon as I get the notification it's delivered. I've had about 20 packages stolen in 5 years.
yup been bad! that is why i try to get someone at home to bring mine in for me while i am at work!
Do you get refunds? Or does the sender say sorry not our problem.
Even we live in a community nobody steal our packages I keep track of my orders until it arrive. And I went and grab it in few mins.
the 'has been delivered' message is a lie. It has been dumped somewhere public and should still be deemed the responsibility of the courier.
I live in upstate New York. Packages get dropped off at my front door and I can leave them all day and nobody touches it even though there’s foot traffic around my house.
Kinda a sad state to see how bad things are now over the US. I lived in Australia and I have yet to encounter package theft. The most happened here (for me) was my package getting swapped by something else. And alot of the more expensive packages like TV, mobiles phone or the like requires a signature to get them otherwise you get an email and a note in your mailbox to say you have a package and require you to pick them up from your closest post shop
At the very least it should be like Uber eats where there are alerts when the driver is near your home and you can go out to meet them. Having a package sitting on your doorstep for hours is never a good idea, idc what neighborhood it is.
New York isn't part of the United States anymore. They look down on Americans and Americans hate them right back. Many Americans have closed their bank accounts with New York based banks.
do not worry it will come 1 day lol
Depends on where you are in the US. I live in the US and I've never had a package stolen either. But I don't live in big cities or crap areas.
Clearly, dropping expensive items onto someone's doorstep does not count as 'delivering' it in Aus. America could learn from that idea. Throwing something onto someone's porch is not delivering it - it is leaving it unguarded and inviting its theft - ergo it is a failure of the delivery company's duty to keep the package secure. I marvel that America seems to accept that 'thrown over the fence = delivered'.
when buildings need security there is no community.
Good one yes
Right
This is why my grandmother had a doorman.
Tbh most New Yorkers don't really care that much because if your package gets stolen Amazon will give you a new one for free. It's annoying, but not top of mind for most people
"Walkable cities" ill pass
We live in Brooklyn. My mother's package got stolen a few months ago. She informed Amazon. In a few weeks she received a fine notice - the box with her name and address had been found in Staten Island and she was blamed for throwing it away on the street 🤣🤣🤣
And to add Insult to injury yall don't even live in Staten Island.
@@CaelumDino Well , we were able to prove, that my 80 years old mother could not throw the box away in Staten Island. She did not pay the fine. :)

So you’re telling me the police are more concerned about fining people for littering their stolen packages than they are at stopping package thefts? Sounds like a wonderful place to live.
Lockers are fantastic, I love delivering to them too.
As long as the penalties are lenient, it’s not going to stop.
I don’t even live in NYC and yet I watch all your videos. Keep up the good content! Your journalism is on point!
I live in a wonderful rural area. If packages get delivered to the wrong address we’ll take it to right address.
Here too! True freedom from this kind of trash and insanity!
And they call us rural folks uncivilized and uncultured. Seems like we are the only ones who have it figured out.
Exactly!
Obviously. Since it's a place with less "diversity"
That happens to me to in NYC. I live in a familial area full of working-class immigrants. Super polite, clean, safe, and not one package stolen!
Great Ideal. How about sending these criminals to prison for about five years and getting rid of the no cash bail system?
are you kidding? Kamala raised money to bail out her ppl....
But, but, the racism...
That’s racist.
RACIST!!!
That’s racist! But I’m am I racist to assume that it’s just Black people stealing? Hmmm
Something I love about this channel is he is showing everyone the problems that we can build businesses around creating solutions for. Everyone says they want to get rich but who will take the action?
We have been using those electric lockers in London for years. Some companies don't use them but they are great.
We also have a system where packages can be left at our local stores if we are not home and we can go and collect it once it's delivered
Same in Denmark. These lockers, and regular pickup points are everywhere. Closest such location to me, is a gas station 5 min of walking distance.

We had a problem with porch pirates in our neighborhood in Louisiana December 2020. Viola' I love community Facebook pages to keep things in an organized manner. LOL

We have those since 2001 in Germany by DHL. Meanwhile there are more than 12000 nation wider. The are called DHL Packstation. You can receive your packages but you also can send packages.
Once you realize there is a theft problem in your building either dont have things delivered to your address or move. Even some home owners have these problems.
The person in the Amazon vest stealing packages probably stole the vest as well!!
She was in an Amazon truck, they cut off the part explaining what she did once she got back to the Amazon facility
It the old days - 20-40 years ago in NYC, the Post Office, UPS, would never leave a package on your door step. Even if you were home, they wouldn't deliver, they just usually did a drive by and claimed you weren't home.
Exactly. Always knocked. Today amazon just throws on porch.
Yeah. But they stll do that now too.

They used to leave the pink slip, telling you to go pick it up at the local post office. No more. Too many people living in NYC now.
Legend has it Cash Jordan has the forbidden skeleton key to every apartment complex in New York.
He’s a real estate agent so it makes sense that he has access to certain apartments.

The problem is the thieves.
Part of the problem is a Fed Ex driver stealing 3 AR15s out of his truck and only getting 6 days in jail in Boston Mass recently for example, a possible 30 years prison, gets 6 days. Democrats like stealing and don't prosecute thieves...unless you are one of those straight + white + male + American...but exceptions can be made, the laws are now flexible, 6 days or 30 years, who knows.
And they will keep voting for the same people and wonder why things never get any better. @@NoNORADon911
the problem is in your crappy country you don't receive delivery into your hands, or have it stored in local post office (usually 5 minutes walk) or inside company lockers, easy solutions, but i guess thats communism or something haha
hmmmmm.....🤔 Have you considered applying to become a detective?
The thieves are enabled by the city leaders, who are voted for by the people of NYC. So thieves are only part of the problem.
My daughter lived in a brand new huge apartment complex. All packages were delivered to the office. They were then put in lockers and the key was put in your mailbox. It's a win win for delivery drivers as they only had to stop once for 500 apartments.
Same when I was in college. Once my promotion goes through and I have to move, how my packages are received is one of the key items on my checklist while apartment hunting.
Yeh 1k extra a month in rent to your landlord for the doorman service. So your money has already been stolen.

FedEx driver here:. If you live in an apartment bldg, please have your apt # on the pkg, because otherwise we will not deliver it or will just leave it in the lobby.
You'd think this was common sense for most ppl, but it's not. I've found random packages in the corridor of my apt. I js take them to the main office, and the manager will notify the resident to pick it up.
Not me. I do Shipt…which is Best Buy, Target, Office Depot.
If you don’t give me an apartment number or even a gate code…you pay me to take it back to the store on top of what you already paid me to bring it to your complex.
I always put my apt # on deliveries.
The FedEx guy still leaves it in the lobby. I guess he doesn't want to climb 3 flights of stairs to get to my apartment.
When placing an order I also include my phone # with the delivery instructions saying to call me. I work nights so I'm usually home when packages are delivered. I'll come down there and get it.
I have had one of them call me once in about 7 years. Once.
My old apartment had a mail room with a separate interior mail room that was full glass (super cool) and if you had a big package, you had to pick up a key at the desk to unlock the interior mail room to get the package and you had another set of keys to remove the chain on the box and every box had its own set of locks and keys (how they managed to get Amazon/fedex etc drivers to agree to chaining up packages is beyond me). The regular mail room was like one of those Amazon lockers system that took them like a year to build, and it also looks super amazing. I wish I could have lived there forever honestly 😭 but it’s apartment housing exclusively for college students
NYC has to be the worst place to deliver packages traffic and apartment buildings ppl wanting you to climb multiple flights of stairs I would leave your crap in your lobby also
Love the new journalism videos man
Our post carrier in Australia has had these lockers as an option for collection for a few years. They're great. The only downside is they're not widespread. My apartment building also has a private one. So convenient knowing your package is safely locked up until you get home. Great idea installing in delis and convenience stores too.

In my country, the packages are not just left at the doorsteps. The delivery guy delivers it to the person at the mentioned address upon a successful OTP based verification. Also most of the delivery partners provide choice to select the day and time of delivery as per our convenience and availability.

*Illegal activity occurs.
NYC: "we need not enforce existing laws that worked for decades. Instead, we need to create more laws that give politicians more power while stripping law enforcement of any, be more lenient with those who violate these laws, and spend more money".
It'll work this time guys. The managerial class says so.
Not only stripping law enforcement of powers, but more importantly, stripping law abiding citizens of power too. Just like so many blue cities and states, politicians are making it almost legal for criminals to commit crimes and illegal for law abiding citizens to legally protect themselves and their property.
Also let's make almost every last thing you can use as self defend illegal.
Surely the bad guys will follow the laws too, right? Right?
And, they’ll do as they always do, “we need more funding for more programs” when it’s the funding $$$ that they’re really after.

Mail theft is up there, too. Someone redirected my mortgage check and rewrote it to themselves. Seven months later, I'm still waiting for a reimbursement from my bank.
I have packages sent to my job.
As a disabled person who needs to receive my mail at my home because leaving my home is difficult for me, these go lockers would have absolutely zero use for me. This isn’t helpful for disabled people. Post office needs to fix this for the many of us who can’t utilize these go lockers.
Those lockers are in a lot of apartment complexes out here in the pacific northwest, but large packages would just be left out in front, and if residents don't pick up their packages and Amazon/UPS run out of empty lockers, they get stacked up in front of the lockers. NY landlords could probably retrofit some basement space for parcel lockers, but that might lead to rent spikes.
The amount of money just to address dishonest people... living would probably cost half as much if people were honest, not to mention the grief.
Thanks to the D people, we've taken pretty much all religion out of the public square.
No more "right and wrong."
Enforcing laws makes people a lot more honest😃
way less than half, wars are expensive.
Human nature is nothig but disgusting.
One solution not mentioned is to just have packages held for pickup at the post office, local FedEx/UPS, etc.

Criminals done been robbing postal workers in my city for at least a couple years now. They're stealing all their keys, too
I purposely stay at home when i have an expensive package in transit!
That's a luxury many workers don't have.
You can have this ship to your work place address if your company allows. Some of my coworkers have Amazon ship their packages to work place.
Yes. I also do that. Plus there are some really nice delivery people that ring your doorbell when they deliver your package. That way, your package is not left unattended. By the time I get to the door, they made it back to the truck. Perfect!

those lockers are in use in Poland from 15 years. They are everywhere, mostly at front of the big stores and gas stations. Super convenient.
Think this through...if you make it harder for criminals to steal one way (e.g. go lockers)...what do you think they are going to do next, work at McDonalds? No, they will figure out what the next low hanging fruit is...this is a solvable problem, by punishing criminals, anything else just shifts the crime around. Not sure about the lockers but one tip is to get to know your neighborhoods and determine one who could hold your packages. Give them a tip for holding particularly valuable ones.
Other options are to ask vendors to have the package held at the post office or signed for delivery. This is particularly good idea and reason to use USPS.
Finally when selecting an apartment do find one which a) has a locked door to the vestibule where mail may be left and if it takes additional time such as an apartment building with a courtyard which requires one going through a corridor to get to the courtyard that is a deterrent as most package thieves want to be able to simply grab and go b) is away from busy commercial avenues. However, getting to know your neighborhoods so that you can trust one of them to watch for your package (and vice a versa) is very helpful in reducing the chance of theft along with having any packages held at the post office - especially if you are going to be away a few days.
Truthful
Here in Australia, our main mail service/carrier (Australia Post) has parcel collect or a parcel locker which you can register for at a Post Office that is near where you work or where to go to on a regular basis. This is a free service and it makes sure you receive your delivery.

If you have a neighbor that you know works from home, and is home everyday, and you're on good terms with them, you could ask them to keep an eye out for the package, and grab it when it's delivered, then grab it from them once you get home from work. My dad actually does that for some of his next-door neighbors.
That person is me where I live. It works well. One neighbor even buys me some beers at Christmas to say thank you!
I do that for customers of mine that aren't home when i go to clean the snow from driveways or lawn care. I move the packages somewhere safe then let them know i moved it even though i live in a small place that this crap doesn't happen often.

The USPS needs a place where it can deliver mail into locked storage bins in a centralized location within an apartment....... you could even call it a "Mailroom".
And private companies have rent out a store front nearby customers. It will be called a store. Plus there already are local post offices with PO Boxes people can rent.
Not all apartment buildings are big enough to have a mailroom. And the ones that are large enough probably already converted that mailroom into an "efficiency" apartment for $3000 per month.
Not just NY. Mail theft is sky high in so many cities and states. We have a package room where I live and there's a monthly fee for it. The thieves live or work IN THE BUILDING. They know this person is loud and determined when they steal those packages. Yes, the people working together to steal the stuff no doubt talk about who’s not worth messing with and who’s a pushover. This is a highly effective way to keep your neighbors hands off your stuff that you are making fun of, with the next being glitter stink bomb boobytrapped packages.
The one thing contributing to mass stolen parcels is the that the NO person delivering parcels ever rings or knocks upon delivery. They just drop and go, not bothering to alert customers inside to come get their parcel.
That was a big thing during Covid. For the driver's safety they were not responsible for getting signature confirmation. Drivers got really lazy as a result. Many didn't even bother to ring the doorbell. Some didn't even deliver the package at all. A chair I ordered from Staples was not delivered or stolen but not delivered at all. Driver claimed it was left on my doorstep while I was away but my land lady was home and her doorbell camera showed that no one came.
Some people don’t want you to ring the bell due to kids or pets. I did Instacart and Amazon Flex as a side hustle during the pandemic. With Amazon you literally don’t even have time to ring the bell. It’s a tight schedule.
@@DebraJohnson No Amazon for me then
I do have have email for over 30 years now, and I use it. I track ALL parcels start to finish. Most times by the time you actually receive the "DELIVERED" notification, the parcel has already been delivered and may have been sitting outside your door for hours. Plus, once the parcel has been scanned "DELIVERED" it is determined to be DELIVERED. You have to then find some way to prove YOU did not actually get the parcel. That includes neighbor misdelveries.
What is so hard for delivery services to remand their employees to knock or ring the bell!? Is their personnel delivery so lazy that it's too hard to raise their hand do it?
During Covid, it was not "deliver and go". Delivery drivers still had to alert the customer upon delivery with a knock or ring before walking away.
My building has a secured area to put packages. it really gives me the peace of mind when Im getting things delivered and I'm not home.
In my building our mail area is out of sight of the main entrance. However delivery drivers or at least people who say they are from amazon can make entry by mashing multiple door buttons till someone lets them in. 1 lady in our building does all her shopping on amazon, every day 601 has a new package…
Thank you for bringing these quality of life issues in NYC to attention. 🙏
And they are legally protected from physical retaliation during the theft.
Unfortunately
Not in my house 😂
Of course lol
The thieves have no repercussions, but if you try to stop the thieves, you'll be thrown in jail for endangering the poor defenseless thieves.
And god forbid that thief is a minority. Now it's a hate crime. Basically they deserve your stuff because of the decades of oppression you committed against them.
Sadly that is true. The law should be changed, theft would definitely drop.
In my apartment building, the packages are usually left by the mailboxes. A friend of mine told me that Amazon is supposed to drop packages off at your door - not by the mailboxes which is not a secure area. Whether or not that’s true, I don’t know. I’ve had two packages taken in the last few months. Yes, I can reorder from Amazon claiming I never received the package but that delays my receipt of the package and it’s a needless expense for Amazon.
Dang, New Yorkers just can't seem to catch a break
Majority of New Yorkers keep voting blue, so they must love criminals and being victims.
Your investigative reporting is SUPERB! I love your new content! Very informative.😊
You were born for this!
In my area, Home Depot and Lowe's have the pickup lockers. You either need the code or the email with the QR code to open it up. Otherwise you are not getting in it.
I'm not in NYC but my apartment complex does use the amazon locker system and non-amazon delivery like FedEx, UPS etc. can also deliver to it. It's nice.
I can always count on you to remind me of how much of a cesspool NYC is 😊
I have ALWAYS hated thieves 🤬🤬🤬
Don't vote Democrat then. Not that both sides aren't thieves, just the Repubs will steal from you less...hopefully.
Thieves and liars are the worst!
So if you jump in a taxi and find a small package that is air sealed and compressed containing $ 230 thousand dollars and the driver tells you hey you my first customer in 2 days I was on vacation!! So let me guess? You gonna return the money to the local precinct?
They are most disgusting
Its your ppl
We have several locker options in UK and before that and still an option to deliver to shops for collection. I simply prefer convenience of not being bother with deliveries, even if I was to be at home.
We had these lockers here for a few years already, they are inside and outside, not heard of anyone stealing from them but also there wasnt any theft to talk about before that anyway. I live In Reykjavik
When ATM's first came out, there was a two step theft process: ATM hands money to user, user hands money over to person with gun waiting outside.
Cool.
So your implying thugs will hang out by these package lockers and rob people? Thats definitely going to happen for sure but not as much as just stealing packages from a porch or building lobby. Thats more of a crime of opportunity(generally) whereas robbery is premeditated & intentional.
ATM: Accessory To Mugging.
I live in a building, and my neighbors will take your packages. So I try to have my packages delivered on my days off, and I sit in my car and wait for the delivery man to come, because my Windows are facing the back of the building. (and, because I may be waiting for a long time, I bring snacks and drinks, and my tablet and phone. Now I'm relaxed, and safe from the elements). I also have my packages delivered to a hub locker, so I can pick them up from there. It's a sad time we live in when no one respects each others property.
It pays to know and get along with your neighbors.
In my old building I used to try to time my deliveries to my days off, or just beg companies to ship USPS so at least when the delivery person refuses to leave my items, I could just walk over to the post office instead of driving to UPS or Fedex.
I don't know how people live like that. That is so inconvenient I would never do that. I have to live outside the city further out in nicer areas so I don't have to deal with things getting stolen.
@@eagle25311 living further out is way too high for my budget, so I have to make adjustments. It's not that bad if you plan things out.
We have had these lockers for years in Romania, exploded in the pandemic. They are awesome!
You are truly the ambassador of goodwill and tourism for NYC!😂
LOL 😀
Latvia has pick up terminals like that all over the coutnry for easy sending and receiving of packages. Including from Amazon. Quite honestly I am amazed how behind USA is sometimes at the most random of things
It’s New York. A metropolis and they still haven’t figured out a system so that they don’t have to pile up garbage bags in mountains every evening. I get the lack of alley space but it’s 2024. Other countries have made underground bins and disposal areas. NY though…
Lol those boxes have been around in Texas and other Southern States for years probably about 10 years ago like you said or at least close to it although for things to spread in America it does take longer just from the sheer size of it but most of it is just mismanagement
I live in rural Minnesota. I had a package stolen last year. I called UPS and they stated, people FOLLOW the t
Ruck and steal packages. My package wasn't outside my BACK door more than a half an hour! We gave our driver instructions where to put the package and we've only got one driver. No Amazon trucks come to our town.
NO AMAZON? Sound like a wonderful place to live! I'm being serious!
Glad you are sporting the German Mutzer on your head…. Thanks for supporting and buying our German brand.
We lived in Bayonne for about a year and I ordered items from online semi regularly and I never personally had a package stolen from our building, but I was working remotely. I will say that I sent an overnight letter sized envelope from the Bloomfield NJ USPS, and it never got to its destination. In fact, the package had been opened and my title (my car was totaled) was put inside of the envelope that was supposed to be used to mail the lien release back to me. I’m thinking someone at the post office got ahold of it and thought something valuable to them was in there. That incident made trouble for me, and my GAP insurance wouldn’t pay the remaining balance of my loan that insurance didn’t cover because I had to overnight another title and it arrived one day late. Those cities are too crowded anyway, but crime is bound to happen, even with the workers you’re supposed to be able to trust. Maybe it would help if people were paid good wages. I’m not sure though.
I like the concept of the ‘Go Lockers’ in Bodegas.. Think about it - the concept of CVS is that when you go there to pick up a perscription, you can also pick up essentials.. Now you can get a package & also a sandwich, etc.. I can see how Bodegas owners are lovin’ the potential for new customers..
Not to mention a chance to pet the resident bodega cat!
What a great place to live!
No wonder New Yonkers move to Florida to keep complaining
I ain't complaining, live in two great neighborhoods here in NYC lol
Washington Heights and Midtown Manhattan.
Really secure building in the heights with keyfob doors to get in and concierge building downtown. Haven't really dealt with the thievery.
Dam stuff there is expensive at that CVS, $7.99 for a small can of Blue Diamond almonds, that is $3.48 here at my local Walmart in Texas.
I live in a small town in Pennsylvania and package theft is a huge problem even here, I wish they would put these secured package facilities in our shops!
Similar situation here...and it's those "damn (white) kids". My sister has security cams and dogs.
Go to A local business and request
The GO lockers look like a good idea. 👍🏻
When I lived in apartments many years ago, all the packages went to the office. There were no packages left on doorsteps, just a note on your door. 🚪📦
This idea comes from Poland. Company called inPost popularized this in Polend and in Europe. We've this lockers everywhere. But they were not invented because of theft but convenience. We can send packages using this lockers also.
