I wanted to mention that No.7 (found @ Walgreens) has these perfectly sized (small) bottles of mix ins. They have several shades for lightening or darkening. The best part about the product tho, it doesn’t mess with the formula of any foundation. It’s like a serum type formula. GOOD STUFF
“As I’m getting closer to my forties...”. Girl! Talk to me in another 20 years! All you young women stop being so hard on yourselves and enjoy your beauty while you have it.
I didn’t feel like she was complaining or being hard on herself - just that she prefers a certain makeup technique now that her face is different than it was 10-15 years ago.
Funny, I’ve been mixing 2 FitMe foundations for about a year now - one darker and cool toned and one lighter and warm toned, one from the matte line and one from the dewy line and it has literally become my FAVORITE foundation ever. Not too drying, not too oily and the perfect neutral light shade. Glad to see this foundation mentioned - not many people do. ❤️
Extremely pale girl tip! I’m always the lightest shade in every foundation and sometimes (often times) the lightest shade is still too dark! I always have a white foundation on hand for mixing. LA Girl makes a completely white foundation that works beautifully!
Watching you do your eyeliner and eyeshadow has REALLY helped me with placement! This is why I love your 7 looks videos so much-I’ve watched them so many times just to get your technique down since we have a similar eye shape. I also totally agree with your foundation tip, although I will admit that I usually just buy affordable foundations that I like in two shades: the lightest and darkest shade my skin gets over the course of a the year. Then I can mix them in whatever ratios I need throughout the year without changing the formula. Great video!
I do the mixing tip with mineral sunscreen and a tinted product, like the dermablend drops or the now discontinued drops by CoverFX. I use about 2-3 drops of that is 2-3 shades too dark, since the white pigment in the mineral sunscreen will lighten that shade. (Tip: stick with a neutral or more yellow undertone, because a cool undertone can become ashy or too pink.) Lash curlers are tricky, especially when you have a certain eye shape. Not all curlers work well on any eye shape! I, for example, have large, slightly hooded almond shaped eyes. Took me about 2 years and 5-6 different curlers, to figure that out. (I adore my Tweezerman ProMaster.)
I’m so glad you did your corner in detail, I’ve been struggling and every time I see your videos I’m always looking at your videos on that part like 5 times or more 😅.
I could never get my liner right (always applied above my lash line) as one eye is more hooded than the other. Then Wayne Goss taught me to put it right into the roots, and I've never looked back. And you've helped me a lot with my outer corner technique. Thank you!
@@kara8911 I just load the liner onto a tiny flat angled brush, tilt my head up, and gently touch that right into where the roots of my lashes are, going in from underneath the lashes. Most times I even use a good quality black or brown eyeshadow to do this with instead of liner, and it's so easy and not at all messy. I like a more natural look.
I looooove mixing foundations!!! I always keep too light/too dark in dewy and matte so that I can not only adjust the shade but also the finish. I purposely bought a light shade in the CP tinted moisturizer so I can turn other foundations into a light coverage!
Yes. Thank you for the outer corner demo. I can't for the life of me get that right. I need that deepness yet it gets so blown out. My eye shape had changed with time and I just need a small bit of deepening there but it just gets so far over to the center that I look like a bug. Thank you. Great and informative video. 🌿🍁🌿
Girl Im with ya on the foundation mixing thing. I've found that I actually PREFER some of the mixtures I've conjured up. Tip: Maybelline Superstay is a little heavier foundation formula than I prefer, but mixed with Missha BB cream it is sheer PERFECTION and it will👏not👏budge👏
I try and try to get my outer corners to look like yours but my eyes are hooded and downturned ... One more so than the other... And my end result never looks like yours.
I have been doing my makeup regularly for about 3ish years and I still consider myself a newbie and am constantly intimidated by the artistry of other. But have gotten so much better at blending, especially eyeshadow on my hooded eyes (I can't wink/close one eye, so I have to learn how to apply despite that)
Love your makeup tips like I always love your videos. You are the Queen of the outer corner. I have upped my makeup game so much. I do have one tip I have learned over the years. No matter what kind of makeup look you are going for, casual or glam, always do your eyebrows. It makes a difference.
Have you tried the LA Girl mixing pigments? I match my foundation color to my skin when I am self tanned, then I mix in the pigment to lighten it as my self tan fades. Very affordable and they work great!
The lashtopia mascara from Bare Minerals is so difficult for me to use! I always smudge it. I haven’t found an angle or application method that doesn’t result in a mess with that mascara and it’s such a shame since it is such a great formula!
So doesn't even matter what the topic is, I am here. Turning 44 in a few weeks. Love Oct 💞!!! Adore you. Now to actually watch the video. Lol.... I have learned to back coat my eyelashes. Is that the right term? I take the mascara wand and coat the opposite side of my lashes then go back to the front and brush them back up. It really helps coat them and make them defined. Ha! You are like the eyeshadow queen 👑👑. Love how you create looks!!! Agree less is more. Build up! I also have curled eyelashes but I still curl them. I use my hairdryer in low heat and blast the eye lash curler for a few seconds. It heats it up then I use it to curl lashes. It's like a curling iron but for your lashes. Really helps set the curl in. I always test it on the pad of my hand to make sure it didn't get too hot. You can burn your eye just like your hair.
Idk if this is new to anyone but when I have fallout, I take a little bit of primer and use that to remove it. It saves u from having to use makeup remover and reapply your primer.
Thank you so much for that eyeshadow tip for the outer corner. I make the mistake of having too much product on the brush and the final look is never the way I want so I settle.
Try using a lash primer first too to add more volume and length to lashes first. The Dior lash primer is the best! I've tried them all! Love it so much!
I wish I could find a foundation that was 3-4 shades lighter than I currently am! I'm so fair, I'll need to use a paper-white concealer to help lighten ALL my foundations.
Love this kind of content! Thanks for all these tips and showing us exactly what you mean. Very helpful if I say so myself 🤗 ☝🏻I like to use a mascara primer instead of using a lash curler. Curls the lash as you brush through it with primer..& it helps to hold it all day. I do have to say tho, I really like my heated lash curler as well. 😎
I try so hard to tightline and I stab my eye every time and then draw it up on my eyelid when I blink hard in panic! Haha! I just can’t figure it out. I tried what you did on a couple videos sort of closing your eye while doing it and I drew all over the eyelid. Haha!
Kara Hall what if you try and tightline with a small square brush, make the brush almost parallel with your face so it’s not facing you, and come in from the bottom, at that angle?
Once when I was a teen I used my mom's eyelash curler and it cut half my lashes off 🤣. I did realize (learn) not all eyelash curlers fit all eyes and that's why some pinch. I bought one for smaller, almond eyes and no longer get pinched. ☺️
Do you mind adding a link to the bare minerals mascara for sensitive eyes you mentioned? I think I found it but there are a couple that are similar so I want to be sure to get the right one. Thank you!
Great tips! Many I use but some are a work in progress! Especially eye liner. I tend not to use it for fear I'll make a mess. Also love the eyeshadow tip. Your eyes always look beautiful! Great video!❤❤❤
I feel like we are all guilty of at least one of these. Would love to hear some tips about working with kids. You always seem so calm and understanding of the interruptions.
I have long lashes and curling them just makes a mess on my upper lid when I add mascara 😂. I have to work to not get that bend in the lash too! I watched a video where a lady warmed up her metal lash curler with her hair dryer first and the curl lasted all day, you would just have to be careful with that technique!
Hi Mandy! Great tips today. I struggle with all of it. Especially doing eyeliner correctly. I think part of the issue is I wear glasses (since having my third child 12 1/ years ago) and have terrible eyesight without them. Which makes putting on makeup extremely difficult. Do you have any suggestions? I have not found no none on RUclips that offers any tips for this. I am 54 with a 16, 14 and 12 year old. I really want to start taking care of myself and how I look.
I've learned never to waste money on foundation without getting to test it out for several days first. It's just not a good spending practice for me, whether it's a ten dollar bottle or from Guerlain, though more so with a high end bottle. I used to have so many bottles and pots of base that weren't quite right or were super wrong; now every foundation I have works shade-wise and finish-wise, because I took the time to get a 3-day sample first. I guess this is sort of an addendum to your tip.
I have the hardest time picking up a foundation shade especially bc I use sunless tanner. I always pick too light. I'll have to try the trick you suggested! Thanks
you could also buy a mixer from la girl cosmetics. they have a white to make more light, a yellow, red, and blue to change it up. i always get too orange so i have to both lighten and cool
Foundation.com is an excellent resource! You can plug in a foundation (or several) that is a good match, and it will give you shade recommendations in lots of other foundations
I'm forty years old and I'm learning how to wear makeup again. I wore makeup from 16-18. From 19 till 31 I wasn't aloud too. 32- now I had to find myself again.
It really does make a difference opening up your eyes. Like you I have long lashes that are curld. I have been trying to remember to curl before mascara. Just another step to remember.
try a different type of purple. you might be working with one thats too cool or too warm depending on your undertone. if i use a cool tone purple it pulls too blue looking like a brusie, so i lean towards the red or pink based purples. sure it pulls more of an eye infection look but not like a black eye
Do you have any other recommendations for foundations other than Maybelline? I do not support them because they are not yet cruelty free and I am trying to switch to all cruelty free makeup
flower beauty is really popular but i have not tried it. some like pixi and its good but ive only ever seen the bb cream in action. the bb cream is amazing im just not sure if thats what youre looking for
I have stick straight lashes on my left eye and semi-curled on my right eye! Does anyone else have that? And when I curl the lashes on the left eye they straighten back out in a few hours. So weird!
I can't imagine how hard you would have to pull or jerk to yank all your lashes out. Lol. It sounds so scary though. I love the way you do the putter definition to your eyelook. I can never get mine to come out right. I gonna try doing it very lightly and slowly. I think I'm adding to much shadow to start out with. It looks. "i,e ugly". LMAO
I found the perfect foundation in Physicians Formula Organic Wear Silk Elixir Foundation but it is an absolute oil slick of a mess on me! I'm sad. Lol.
I also have a fantastic way to get the right shade of foundation!!! If you have at least one foundation that matches you well go to findation.com and it will match you to a whole list of foundation colors that will match you drugstore and high end!! Just a tip!!
