What a tragic character. He is in the background, but he is probably the character with whom you can best empathize.
the most tragic is he make good things like replacing part of your body to fix his patient disability with hextech augmenting but in the end it create a cult that he didnt know until it grows to much that the majority of its member never knows him and can never be stop and goes far away from his vision of its uses

I thought he was just going to be an evil guy trying to steal Jayce’s research. I was so surprised to see such a deep and well written character. Arcane subverted a lot of expectations.
i would hardly say any of these characters are "in the background". They were all given a lot of attention
As I see this is a new canon, actually because all Viktor and Jayce lore is rewrited, and I think in season 2 we will observing a totally new story, not the which one we can found on the lore website.
I didn't notice at the time, that when Viktor is at the dock, it's almost like he's reliving that scene in childhood. Where he couldn't catch the boat, but here we see that he's able to outpace all the boats, running faster than ever before. Quite a powerful cinematic moment.
And yet he cannot catch the one thing he wants back: his dead friend.
This is what I love most about the show. The deeper meanings behind every scene, the underlying metaphors behind nearly every action. The contrast between the scenes of child Viktor chasing a boat that he could never be able to catch, and the Viktor now who is sprinting past all of his old obstacles by outpacing the boats in the harbor is incredible.
@@mostermashr and yet while young Viktor gained a friend at the end of his trip, adult Viktor permanently lost a friend on the road his research led him down.

That scene has to be my favourite from the entire show it's so powerful

@@tristanrupa1988 They were trying to save the world. Victor meant "great" as in "positive" but also "great" as in big. Their goal went from trying to help those around them to helping those around the world, and in doing so they only hurt those around them more. At least that's how I interpreted it.
As a crippled person who has been fortunate enough to be able to walk and run, against all odds, the scene where Victor as a child stumble, and or when Victor as an adult runs, are the most beautiful scenes in the series for me.
Awe, that's so touching. I'm so glad for you, it's such a beautiful phenomenon how art can connect with people so deeply. I wish you all the more progress and resolution in your future.
An injury left me bedridden for about a year. The day I woke up and it was suddenly a little easier to get out of bed and walk around made me so happy. I felt great and it made me think of regular things I take for granted.
God, this made me cry. Viktor is such a well written and complex character, beautifully tragic and inspiring. My favourite in the series. Thank you so much for this great edit ❤️
Life has given Viktor such a rough hand yet he still tries to achieve so much. I genuinly find his character inspiring! 💕
saddly viktor somehow is more the main charakter then the others for me the others are just plot armore here plot armore ther but viktor is actualy achiving something and paying for it as well
Not that complex, just human. We'll see if he eventually loses his humanity in the search for progress.

The scene where he running and crying in the bay is just so real. The things we chose to sacrifice for progress. Then he go back the lab, looking at the shimmer, to see his reflection, its now or never
well i believe he was crying because of the relief he felt of being able to run again, but also because of the weight that it caused the death of one of his closest friends. He could feel relief, but he probably felt guilt and sadness much more.
@@davidsantiago7808 the scene was set up before the death of sky. He was not crying about the relief i think viktor character care no less about his current health. He was always working hard to help peoples in zaun whom he knows needed hextech technology the most. "There are peoples who need our help now! Jayce"
He was crying because in order to save them he need to choose this path, the path that will make them despise him.

Yeah it's been echoing in my head ever since they said it. I rewatch that scene and the scene where Jayce is about to jump and compare and contrast them a lot. The hope for a better future and the mistakes they made along the way.

Viktor was so blinded by his fear of his own mortality, of not lasting long enough to see the fruits of his work, that in the process to rid himself of his disease he caused the death someone that deeply admired him. After Sky's death he almost considers ending his own life to prevent his fear from hurting more of his friends. Now that's character evolution, makes me wonder how much of his journey awaits him until he gets to how we know him in-game.

The thing is though is the characters in league are sometimes drastically different from arcane. Example being heim. I doubt he'll be a sociopath but he'll be much more like singed in his willingness to help people. Hell experiment for the greater good until he gets it right

I was waiting for Viktor to just become "oh I stab you in the back because I'm the shifty villain who hides in the shadows"
...I didn't realize how wrong and short-sighted I was until the scene where he's is able to run for the first time. The power of that moment showed me that this person wasn't in the shadows because it concealed his malevolent plots. This was a man who devoted himself to improve and solve the issues he saw. Only now at the end of the 1st season, he's realized that he is running out of time and his goal still hasn't been completed.
Sure Hex-tech was making waves in Piltover but the practical uses that would help the people of Zaun have yet to happen. He understands safety but that means he likely won't see the fruits of his labor. It's a very interesting and compelling conflict that I was not expecting and has catapulted Viktor to one of my favorite characters.

This series is like a dream. I can't believe such a masterpiece exists. Loved every episode. Every character made sense. What a remarkable story.
There were flaws but this will be my top 5 series ever easily, if not top 3. Especially since I have been waiting for league related series / movie for about 5 years now. They nailed it

Love the fact as the series goes on, you can see physically that Viktor isn't doing too well. His health is getting the best of him
Viktor is great. He has no big dream like Jayce, he wasn't touched by something bigger than himself, he's simply an urchin cripple who wants to make the world a better place for people like him. In his simplicity, he's righteous and invokes righteousness in others. And yet his genius is cut short by the bane of his people: the poor living conditions of Zhaun, which probably gave him his disease. But in his despair he goes beyond safety and without Jayce by his side, his research kills a human like him. And yet he needs the monster he created to live and evolve his research to one day bring real change to Zhaun.
Man I love Viktor
He couldn't outrun his small ship with his normal legs & outrun the big ship with the augmented leg, that moment made me cry.
when i first saw viktor in arcane telling Jayce to continue working on Hextech
i legit think that Viktor is some soft of manipulative character because u know, the game lore and stuff

He wasn't even a manipulator in his lore. He was just extremely misunderstood

The level of how well Viktor's character -and the series of a whole, is written is off the charts. Fortiche really set the bar for animation with this one and both they and the writers deserve all the praise they are getting

Viktor was one of the highlights in the series.
His light may have been that of background or secondary character, but he still shined as Bright if not brighter then those around him

I've been following LoL lore for years now and Viktor's has been one of my very favorites and watching his character development in Arcane is delightfull.
This show is trully a cinematography masterpiece of storytelling. Can't wait to S2 and really hoping not to fall into the claws of a demanding fandom like is use to nowadays.

This is just perfection I love Viktor so much as a character and he is so well written a character that I can empathize with and see the reasons why he does what he does. Such a beautiful cinematic that captures the character perfectly keep up the good work and I can proudly say that after watching this show I've booted up league and join his GLORIOUS EVOLUTION.

Viktor doesn't work well on low elo because jgs don't understand he can't follow up early stuff and usually if a lane lose too hard Viktor can't handle the game alone, since he isn't made to actually win his lane.
But...Viktor is a STRONG BOI
Funny enough that both Jayce and Viktor are very difficult champions so more players will play them and start doing poorly in comparison to Jinx and Vi

Wow. The chills. I never thought much of Viktor before, but after watching the series I just saw all of the major characters in a new light. I was very happy when he started running and now I'm concerned for him. Right now he's denying his destiny, which means something really bad must happen for him to fall back into it. Either it is the result of what happened in the finale or something worse that will happen in season 2
Maybe Jayce discovers that he killed sky and fight with him, and after that Viktor feels like his cience comrade abandoned him and starts a slow path where he ends as what we have in the game or something similar

Such a tragic character, only thing he wanted is to help the people of the under city, yet the invention of hex-tech is only making the rich getting richer. Undercity didn't get a dime, even got worse with Silco's shimmer. As Jayce is getting more hostile towards the undercity everyday, he knows if he dies his dream of helping undercity with Hex-tech is definitely going to die with him. It's the kind of despair that pushes a man to do anything. Hence “In the pursuit of great, we failed to do good”.
