I've scoured RUclips for lesson tutorials on how to play this song, and yours was the best tutorial. As a beginner, I really appreciate the chord numbering, chord progressions, and repetition of playing each segment, close ups of your guitar neck, and the Strumming Pattern breakdowns are amazing. I've managed to grasp most of it in a few days, and now will keep practicing the strumming until I nail it. Thank you for all the care and effort you put into this tutorial.

not sure if he mentioned it's originally played in Eb tuning (sounds more pretty and dark that way ((tune all strings down one half step)) but don't think it's necessary. play w/ those chords and remember the vocal melody is in those chords, you'll prob find yourself humming or whistling even if you can't sing (like me) great lesson. The time sig. is weird and changing, just feel it, have to be in sync w/your vocalist...one of the beautiful chemistry AIC had. Cantrell/Staley was effortless.

Thank you. I had it all together, also the vocaling on the playing but that hammer on gave me so much frustration. After waching this, i picked up my acoustic and played exactly the same BUT did the hammer on part only picking this one string instead of strumming all the strings. It really popped out sounding so much better. And from there i slowely started adding the strumming without loosing the clear hammer on - sound. My eyes opened and now i'm smiling😊 Edit. Least i can do is like&subscribe.

Started playing the guitar as a kid but haven't touched it in years. My 6yo wants to learn so I bought him one and got mine out. Started a few lessons with him and muscle memory started coming back. Anyways, I love this song so came to this video. Had a hard( ish) time with the changes UNTIL I watched your chord technique video. Now, I can play it! So helpful! Great video. Love this song and it's a great one to learn as a beginner. Always one of the first things I start to play when I pick up my acoustic. Didn't see it in the video or description but the original recording and unplugged performance has the guitar down-tuned a half step to Eb Standard so keep that in mind if you want to play along with them.

Really nice lesson, as clear as it can be probably and in standard tuning which is what I was looking for. I especially liked the part where you did the strumming on the neck to show both the chords and strumming at the same time "zoomed in". I still can't play this properly 😆 but at least I know what I'm supposed to be doing now.

Great lesson dude. For myself, what has helped is ...Cantrell is very laid bad, The time signatures change, bla, bla, technical...but it isn't as important is just playing it w. the vocals. the vocal is implied while you're playing the chords, you can kinda hum it w/little experiene. and you can play w/those 4 chords for ever...also, lift the pinky on and off the high e string in the Cadd9, make it you're little cue to switch to Em7... Also not sure if he mentioned it's originally played in Eb tuning (sounds more pretty that way ((tune all strings down one half step)) but don't think it's necessary. Play mtv unplugged on repeat, also Aaron lewis has been covering it beautifully for years.

I've scoured RUclips for lesson tutorials on how to play this song, and yours was the best tutorial. As a beginner, I really appreciate the chord numbering, chord progressions, and repetition of playing each segment, close ups of your guitar neck, and the Strumming Pattern breakdowns are amazing. I've managed to grasp most of it in a few days, and now will keep practicing the strumming until I nail it. Thank you for all the care and effort you put into this tutorial.

not sure if he mentioned it's originally played in Eb tuning (sounds more pretty and dark that way ((tune all strings down one half step)) but don't think it's necessary. play w/ those chords and remember the vocal melody is in those chords, you'll prob find yourself humming or whistling even if you can't sing (like me) great lesson. The time sig. is weird and changing, just feel it, have to be in sync w/your vocalist...one of the beautiful chemistry AIC had. Cantrell/Staley was effortless.

Thank you. I had it all together, also the vocaling on the playing but that hammer on gave me so much frustration.
After waching this, i picked up my acoustic and played exactly the same BUT did the hammer on part only picking this one string instead of strumming all the strings. It really popped out sounding so much better. And from there i slowely started adding the strumming without loosing the clear hammer on - sound. My eyes opened and now i'm smiling😊

Started playing the guitar as a kid but haven't touched it in years. My 6yo wants to learn so I bought him one and got mine out. Started a few lessons with him and muscle memory started coming back. Anyways, I love this song so came to this video. Had a hard( ish) time with the changes UNTIL I watched your chord technique video. Now, I can play it! So helpful! Very excited to get back into playing the guitar.

Great video. Love this song and it's a great one to learn as a beginner. Always one of the first things I start to play when I pick up my acoustic. Didn't see it in the video or description but the original recording and unplugged performance has the guitar down-tuned a half step to Eb Standard so keep that in mind if you want to play along with them.

Really nice lesson, as clear as it can be probably and in standard tuning which is what I was looking for.
I especially liked the part where you did the strumming on the neck to show both the chords and strumming at the same time "zoomed in". I still can't play this properly 😆 but at least I know what I'm supposed to be doing now.

Great lesson dude. For myself, what has helped is ...Cantrell is very laid bad, The time signatures change, bla, bla, technical...but it isn't as important is just playing it w. the vocals. the vocal is implied while you're playing the chords, you can kinda hum it w/little experiene. and you can play w/those 4 chords for ever...also, lift the pinky on and off the high e string in the Cadd9, make it you're little cue to switch to Em7... Also not sure if he mentioned it's originally played in Eb tuning (sounds more pretty that way ((tune all strings down one half step)) but don't think it's necessary. Play mtv unplugged on repeat, also Aaron lewis has been covering it beautifully for years.
