Muy útil el vídeo, sé que llego bastante tarde desde que se publicó el vídeo pero bueno.
Soy estudiante universitario y llevo 4 (de 5) años utilizando el Thinkpad x201 (modelo tablet) y la verdad es que ya se nota el desgaste y pues he decidido jubilarlo finalmente y de una forma u otra, dada mi experiencia con otros portátiles siempre acabo mirando Thinkpads. Estoy entre el Thinkpad E495, modelo muy similar al del vídeo, o el E15. Ambos tienen sus pros y sus contras pero lo que me va a hacer elegir el primero frente al segundo es básicamente el contenido de este vídeo.
El E495 posee dos ranuras para ampliar la RAM, pudiendo poner 2x16GB, en lugar de una única ranura para el caso del E15, así que puedo conseguir un mayor rendimiento pese a que no es tan nuevo como el E15.
Noob question here. I’m really loving the thinkpad E490 and the fact that you can replace the SSD HD. My question is can I also replace the RAM? If so what’s the highest you can go? I’m just a college student who wants a sturdy laptop that can last for years no gaming just pure business as I have a gaming laptop but that thing is huge and heavy to carry around everywhere

Hi i just purchased this laptop. I am hearing a kind of buzzing noise from under the ESC key of the keyboard, or from that side of the laptop at least. The noise increases when opening new tabs or carrying out casual work. When the laptop is idle the noise isn't heard that much. Is this something common please? Has anyone else experienced something similar? Thanks and great video!

the wifi module is even more picky than the graphics card. You probably need to repalce it, what card is it?
RTL8822BE not supported, AC 9260 could work if there was a proper linux driver, and there is not. Conclusion, buy the dell we are all using

In E490 Platform Specifications docs, it is written that "Installed memory is actually 2666MHz but run at 2400MHz due to Intel limitation". I am planning to buy 16gb ram but should I buy 2666MHz or 2400MHz for the empty ram slot. Which one is the most compatible with E490 and default 8gb 2666 MHz ram? are your default and extra ram also 2400MHz or 2666MHz?
In addition to doc, also says for supported m.2 storage:
"M.2 2280 SSD / PCIe NVMe, PCIe 3.0 x 2
M.2 2242 SSD / PCIe NVMe, PCIe 3.0 x 2"
I am planning to buy a " PCIe NVMe, PCIe 3.0 x 4". However, it supports x2 bus, not x4 bus. Does x2 can run x4 with speed decrease or it just does not entirely suppurt x4 and cannot run? Is it possible to install x4 ssd to x2 supported m2?

zz dafe Hello! I recommend that you install 2400 memories because it is the maximum frequency. I don't remember what memory is originally installed. I put a link of the Crucial compatible memories for your notebook. The M.2 socket is indeed 2x and if you install an M.2 Pcie 3.0 4x disk it will go at the speed of 2x. @@SMDSpain thanks for the reply! I asked the store what the installed ram's MHz is. They said it was 2666 MHz and I also researched and e490 platfom spec doc says 2666 MHz is installed. Hence, I ordered 2666 MHz (haven't tried yet). I know max support 2400 MHz but I want both rams are same MHz and probably 2666 MHzs will be downgraded to 2400 MHz. Also I found "Kingston KC2000 500GB" more appealing due to opal 2.0, warranty and linux compatibility. (I first ordered "Adata XPG SX8200 Pro" but it has serious issue with linux support, so I cancelled the order and ordered Kingston)
