So this is where you've been... well done. Not only a musical genius and visionary but a talented woodworker and artisan. The tone is just as beautiful as the instrument.
The best Melodica channel by far. Everything is done to a very high standard, from the lessons series to your own wonderful playing and to top it off you now show how you made your own instrument. This truly is Melodica ‘World’. Thank you for all your hard work.....now back to practicing on the ‘Pink Peril’ as I have named my pink plastic Melodica.
SUCH A LABOR OF LOOOOOOOOVE and the melodica came out sounding WONDERFUUUUUUUL!!! Such dedication and attention to detail. I hope this instrument is worth every single last ounce of effort it took to make and then some!!! Congratulations!!!
NIce! As an instrument builder myself I really respect the undertaking you made to build this. That was a lot more work than what you showed in the video; I know this. I also recognized Augustus Pablo"s Java in the end.
Simply amazing, all of it. It looks great, works great, sounds great, and you were so detailed in explaining not only your design process, but also your mistake/review/adjustment process, which is critical for someone to understand so that they can think critically about their own designs in the future. Thank you so much for sharing!
I'm thinking of buying my first melodica... I set my eyes on Yamaha P32D :) Then - I saw this video... during 1st minute I thought..." Oh, cool! I can make my own melodica too!" But after that - "No waaaay.... I'll go and buy my darling Yamaha :)". Great job!
Wow! Such a great craftsmanship and perfect instrument. This is exactly what a melodica should sound like. That sharp metallic overtone like in a harmonica combined with a warm full "wooden" body and base. To bad they don't make anything similar anymore.. Those plastics are OK but you can almost hear that they are resonating in plastic bodies.. this is refinement on the highest level !!!
Wow, really stunning! Sounds beautiful, too. I thoroughly enjoyed watching this video and am amazed by your perseverance with this project! You can hear the love and care that went into this.
Wow. Not only a great performance and build, but I learned a few cool techniques to use in the woodshop. Your voice and delivery are very calming. I'm absolutely loving your channel.
What a craftsman you are Darren and a superb musician. That melodica has the sweetest sound I'm really blown this was so interesting to watch thank you so much
Absolutely amazing. You have a dream, You can't be provided for it... You break the wall. My full admiration for that, and your projection, your piece sounds and even looks fantastic.
Incredible work, the most inspiring Melodica video I've EVER seen and heard. Bravo Daren, that is over the top and beyond! Beautiful instrument and wonderful performance. Cheers!
Really amazing! You constructed a wonderful instrument. Very beautiful design and tone! Thank you for sharing your process! And one more thing: the video itself is well done, the music, script, recording takes... congrats!
Well spotted! I wanted to play the C major prelude in the background, but it was far too short, as I had about 20 minutes to cover. So I tried making a very long (18 mins) intro to it. It's one section, repeated 3 and a half times, each time ending a tone higher, so going up a tone on each repeat. In the end I left the prelude out altogether!
i am brazilian and i am impressed with the degree of dedication, love and appreciation for the detail that was used in the construction project of your own melodica. This enchants me, fills me with emotion and leads me to believe in the rescue of a better world. Congratulations on the splendid project.
I just discovered your channel and found many things: a very accomplished musician, great composer, skillful instrument maker and not to forget a delightful teacher. I just bought my P37D (seeing your reviews of it) and am of to a new world of MelodicaMusic.
Amazing project and great playing and sound ...Gods continued blessings and thanks for sharing hard work and successful outcome. Couldn't hire someone so DIY. thumbs up
Essential oils may help with the mold problem, I believe an all wood instrument may have been way better. I also want to make my own instruments, this was quite inspiring.
Bro, you are an absolutely excellent narrator and video maker. Seriously! A+ and a visionary! You did a great job on this amazing build! Wish I had the patience and time for such an endeavor.
congratulations for the channel, what you do is very beautiful! Could you make a video on how to give it a treatment so that the melodica sounds better than factory? tuning, maintenance and improvements, thanks!
I start watching your videos and just can't stop! I like to repair accordions as well as play them and melodicas. I've often wondered what it would be like to build one as you did. It sure looks like a lot of planning! You have done an amazing job! I'm curious why you went with aluminum key tops. How do they feel? Excellent video!
Thanks Peter, yes there was a ton of planning. I went with metal key tops for the look mainly. I didn’t want the whole thing to look like a big piece of wood! They’re nice to play, no different from any other material really. I’ve only played this live once so far. It was a cold evening outside and the keys were icy when I started. But I was playing in a hot environment, so it was just what I needed!
How amazing my friend, first of all congratulations on your wonderful and inspiring work, you are a great musician and performer of Melódica, your contribution to the art of this instrument is immeasurable. And now the question that doesn't stop, would you produce a model like this to sell? Because that was really the best Melodica sound I've heard in my entire life, and I would love to have one like it. Even so, regardless, congratulations again for your giant work.
@@MelodicaWorld I understand perfectly, it must not have been easy to take the project out of the paper to make it look so incredible, many hours and resources invested I imagine, even so, if you ever build to sell, know that I will be here to purchase a model. A friendly hug.
Awesome sounding! Very athletically cool and interesting choice to round the keys like that. As far as filming goes I recommend a smaller aperture so that when the autofocus wanders off target then at least subject detail is still fairy visible. The autofocus misses were driving me nuts obscuring details I was trying to see. Shallow depth of field is beautiful when focus is dead on but like most things best in moderation.
@@MelodicaWorld hey you did good. The wandering focus is a nemesis to many. Everything else was set up and shot very well. It is certainly tempting to push those apertures wide open. Shallow dof is a nice way to isolate subjects but finding the right amount for many shots is a lot to consider. Dynamic lighting is a great way to show depth that I use to compensate for using smaller apertures as it also helps isolate subjects. Anyway your work is great so I need not say more :)
you make the melodica sound soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo good.
@@MelodicaWorld The tricky part of these instruments is fixing them. The reeds are very delicate, and they're difficult to replace. Do you repair your own?

I discovered a week ago your channel and am addicted to it!!! What a wonderful instrument you have made and it sound so great!!! Would like the same!! 😍 You could be proud of your work! Thanks to be passionnate🌺✌🏼
Very well bro ❤️ but accordion reeds detune because of rusting it's very much moisture when you blow into melodica.. othervise fantastic job only use brass reeds .... Harmonium maker from India

Absollutly amazing, beautyful and sounds better than the italian Victoria wooden melodica! Thank you for sharing and inspire us. I still searching models of melodica skeleton but nothing, so I decided to try with harmonica files. I'm pianist, composer and hobbist. I loved how this melodica works! Bravo!

Interesting never-ending "Prelude in C major"-inspired background music. Is it improvised or algorithmic?

THAT IS AMAZING COOL! also loved the melodica solo at the end. sure i heard alton towers theme music but with melodica gives it that nice reggae sound
Glad you liked it! Thanks for waching :-)
very cool, love the key design - though I think if I were to make a melodica I would probably do something fun with it by dropping it an octave or 2
I agree! The only difficulty is, the lower the notes, the bigger the reeds, and the more air they take to sound.
ayo that accordion reeds idea was genuis i lowkey wanna make one with my own design now
Yeah, make one!!
