- Taking a quick detour from our southward journey, we cruise to the end of the Peak Forest Canal which terminates at a town called Whaley Bridge. It's a slightly damp day of cruising, but we are treated to some beautiful views across the valley.

"Never Stop Reaching for the Stars" by Airae
Thank you! It was so good to see Whaley Bridge and the Peak Forest Canal. Although I live in Cornwall, I know the town well because my sister and brother-in-law have lived there for years - a good way up the hill on the left at 8.04 in the video; and another family member (complicated family!) lives in one of the moored boats you passed. It's a town with a fascinating history. That includes the canal (opened to Whaley Bridge around 1805) connecting with the Cromford and High Peak Railway (CHPR), which used cable-hauled inclines and locomotive-hauled sections to go right across the northern Peak District to Cromford in Derbyshire. The northern-most incline was down to the basin at Whaley Bridge and is clearly visible today, even though that section of the railway was closed in the 1890s. The rest of the CHPR was closed in the 1960s, mostly steam-worked to the very end; and most of it is now used as a network of walking and cycling trails. Whaley Bridge is dotted with relics of its industrial past, most of them repurposed as small businesses and leisure facilities. A fascinating place. Many thanks for an excellent vlog, as usual!
Looks like such a charming village. Fun trip! Thanks for taking us along too.
I love your cruises with you too..Take care and be safe and thanks for your posts
Fun video, Glad "Pixel" got some camera time 😍
OPENING CLIP LOOKED LIKE A VERY TIGHT MANOVRE BUT I LOBED THE HANDS ON THE TREES AND THE TINY MOTH./ BEE. SURE WAS A LOT OF BOATS ALONG THERE . i SPIED A RAILWAY CIADUCT SO GONNA LOOK THAT UP. THANK YOU
Short and sweet.. loved it.. Peak Forest canal is one of my favorites💜
Swizzles do have a factory shop . the railway bridge you crossed is from the Cromford high peak railway 1831 and survior of the flooding that lead to the spillway failure at Tod brook reservoir in the town
Not only do Swizzels have a factory shop, they do carrier bags of miss shapes, worth it if you don't mind how they look
Lovely cruise
we have a Macclesfield little town here in South Australia
Hi 👋 hope you are both okay and keeping well and I hope pixel is behaving for you great you are still doing videos, when are you bringing back the cooking ones I love them too
I have heard the peak forest is always busy due to the scenery. Glad to see you out and about.
Lovely cruise. Great to see pixel again. That was a lovely wee walk at the end. Pretty village. Thank you
Hi guys ,what a beautiful canal the peak forest canal is I have watched so many narrowboats on there I feel as I have been on myself lol lots of boats on there but most of them are moored up ,interesting blog ,till next time take care keep safe, John 🌹🌹🙏👀🇬🇧😂😆👌👍
What a beautiful area…but the hand sculpture was a bit creepy! 😆
Wonderful scenery. Autumn is my favourite time of year.
Great vlog! I am guessing you guys have been busy if you are posting vlogs from 6 months ago. Do you have any more chef type vlogs planned? Missing those! Good work though guys and thanks!
Strange to see this in April 2022 but lovely anyway to see never been up there on this canal so nice 👍
Weird. I saw what appeared to be a lot of cars parked in the wrong direction. Here in the USA, many state and local laws prohibit parking such that your car is facing traffic on that side of the road. There was one shot where two cars were parked on the street nose to nose - clearly one of them was wrong. Is that not a thing in England?
good vid on the cut thanks lee
Loved the scenery, such a beautiful area to be in. Enjoyed your vlog and the commentary, thank you. Cheers.
..the same unless you visit the Swizzzzzzzzzelllllllllllllssssss factory ;-)
What's up with you two? Haven't seen you post in the comments section in about 6 months. Hope we're not losing more boat-tubers, they are dropping like flys this last year.
:)
Good video
