- So....I practised this solo for 7 days for only 30 mins per day! Such a sick song. Such an amazing solo

🤦♂️ “In Australian and British English, 'practise' is the verb and 'practice' is the noun. In American English, 'practice' is both the verb and the noun.”
Don't be racist....
(knowing there's an actual answer explaining how language changes over time across different regions) I think it's so weird how people just change spelling and stuff like that over time. I like color vs colour and all that stuff. Like, "Hey everybody in the whole country, we're all going to change this now even though our ancestors have always done it this way for so long. Haha.
@@John3K21 actually youre WRONG 😂 going to a major change in rules in the 90s in germany, heres how it works:
1. rules are announced
2. rules will be put in tze dictionary
3. next 5 years, people mixing stuff up
4. after a while they use the new stuff
5. a lot of people dont give a fuck and use tze old rules too
i think such thing need a while and some generations of students to change.
and why do it? old rule were stupid and overcomplicated.
@@John3K21 The dude behind those changes was a linguist named Webster. He wanted to change even further, but it didn't work out. The Americans have been writing wrong ever since.
@@BratislavMetulski And you`re disproving his line of thought with a one example from a country known for mottos such as "ordnung muss sein" ;D Don`t get me wrong - it's a valid example, but I`m pretty sure it`s a very rare occurence. Most of the time it works the other way around, people are making words up/mixing them all the time and after some time they are so prevalent that they get added to the dictionary. Adding words to dictionary and then making people learn them is so 1984 ;)
I think far more guitarists need to do vlogs like these. Today everything is so polished and clean and no one sees the blood sweat and tears that go into it and therefore done understand that technique doesn't come overnight
Yeh? I think I’m gonna do more also!
I’m starting to see a lot of musicians going back to recording on analog and tape and it is BEAUTIFUL sounding! Bring back tape!!!
@@MJ-nk7mp yeh totally! dont run a marathon each month. run little and often
I hate when people say "oh, you're so gifted!!!" just because they didn't see the previous 1000000 attempts that led up to that one ~ there is no gift, it's all earned >: |
Totally agree!
Unbelievable the talent Dime really had , and he made it look so easy
Zakk Wylde always said Dime was one of a kind.
Zakk said on Rick Beto that after playing some of Dimes stuff he realized he was even better than he thought he was.
That solo is so legendary. I'm from Texas so dimebag is every dudes hero here if you shred. RIP DIME. GETCHA PULL JAMIE
Aww thanks bro! Feel free to share it to your friends 🍉 🔥
Dime is everyone’s hero and if not they don’t know who he is
Im from illinois. I heard my dad playing heresy. Went and bought my own copy immediatly. Dime is the best in my opinion. Hands down.
Not my hero
@@Sn00chieb00chies who is
Well Jamie you’ve done it, I’ve been staring down the barrel of this seek and destroy solo for a long time and I just finished my first 30min practice session.
See you in 7 days
#7daysolo post it on social media and I will watch!!
The quick part is the only bit I cant do... how anoying.
@@stihlsavvy666 the exact reason i gave up on solos a long time ago. It has always haunted me playing up to speed.
You bloody did it mate. Thanks for being real Jamie. so many people hide behind their good takes and don't really practice. GG.
Awww 🙇♂️ thanks bro! ❤️ appreciate the support
Good job man. Given the rules of the challenge, you were almost there after the 7 days. When I first learned tornado of souls, it took me 30-35 days to learn it, and play it up to speed, and that was 2 hours a day roughly. And then I was still only able to hit it 1 in 15 attempts. But after that, I started to be able to pick up harder solos faster and faster. That’s the process.
Yeh it’s crazy isn’t it 🍉
Fair play man. Wish I would spend more time practicing than I do watching people practice on RUclips 🤣
Haha! Me tooooooo that’s why I started this
Hahahahaaha, me tooooooo 😉
Me: 30 Hours a Day for 7 Years.
🤣
@@JamieSlays Lol but seriously thinking about about it, I reckon I could give it a solid sloppy attempt. It was a good idea for a video tho Jamie.
🤣
shit i think the math doesnt math there
I’m nowhere near as good as you, but I practice everyday for at least 30 minutes. I take inspiration from my heroes like Dime, Hetfield, Hammett, Zakk. I even learn by watching you and other RUclips players. Awesome solo man. Dime would be proud
Awesome bro! Happy to hear it
This was just flat out inspiring. I recently picked up playing guitar after years of indulging in other things and this truly gives me the inspiration to practice for hours. Thank you Jamie! Happily subscribed!!!!!
aww thanks jarod!! 🍉
Many of these solos are published at somewhat increased speeds by means of studio magic; case in point being Man on the Silver Mountain. I learned this solo note for note and after many months realised that the recorded version is at least 25% faster than credible in a live band scenario.
The dirty secret of everyone’s favorite songs.
Master of puppets was the same story.
When everyone thinks it’s THAT hard 😂, (I mean it _is_ ) but when you play the SAME THING live for YEARS it gets easier. There comes a point where it’s just psychology and _everyone_ takes it for granted that “guitar gods” isn’t a thing in reality, when in all likelihood it’s most likely a predominantly neurodivergent group of musicians that get an early start and stick with it. I mean, I do get some ADHDish type of vibes from Dime.
@@jamesdragonforce It's not so much the speed on its own. In a live band scenario you have to be in sync with drums, bass and overall tempo. There comes a point in practice where you realise that to replicate the recorded speed of the solo means stepping outside of the band for however long it takes, or slowing it down and keeping things tight.
@@guypierce6323 point taken.
Respect for showing the sloppy mess at the beginning n not hiding it like most people would
This is literally the best way to learn difficult parts, use the metronome and slow thing down 🤘 Great video mahn
Yeh! I had to keep slowing it down to get it properly
Your excitement and happiness at the end is so infectious! Awesome job Jamie, I'm nowhere near as good, but this experiment showed that someone like you can even hit a wall and overcome it with good ol' practice. Thanks for the inspiration 👍
Thanks bro I had to turn the volume down at the end as I was so loud haha
I'm broken... the way your fingers felt after all of that practicing!
Great video and good job on the solo - it was awesome seeing your progress over the several days! Subbed!
You crushed it Jamie! I was playing along with you in the live streams!
Aww thanks bro!
Well done! You set a goal and kept at it! Thank you for sharing your journey. This video is an inspiration for all.
This was really cool to watch! As a guitarist who isn't particularly great, it's refreshing for me to watch someone actually working hard to improve, instead of just showing how they nail everything. Very inspiring, hope to see more of this!
I think this might have been my favourite video of yours. Well done
Thank you for this video, I find it inspiring to see your process. I'm learning and practicing daily and kinda it's good to see that we're all dealing with same problems. Thanks for the encouragement! Also live your guitar!
Dang man thats hard work right there! Good job! Love all dimes guitar riffs solos and everything about him. Rip Dimebag
loved the honesty of this vid. Showing the 'less than perfect' starting point for all to see. No glossing over.
Great end result!
Subbed.
🙇♂️ thank you!!
This was such a good watch Jamie. This is the content I come on RUclips for! Quality!...and well done :)
Awesome video man. Nice work!
Quality this mate good effort, it’s actually really comforting to see you having to break it down and learn it in chunks
Your first go at it really shows what a monster dime was! Dude was an animal....ok back to he video
This is mint! Great progress video man proves you are human ! Big respect for posting the mess up video too 🤘🏻🤘🏻
Thanks bro! X
Awesome and inspiring and you bloody did it! Well done, subbed.
Awesome job mate and really enjoy seeing the actual transformation and the honesty in this video!
Honestly man pretty impressive. Just goes to show how crazy it is for these legends to not only write whole albums with solos like this but to be able to keep them all sharp for live performances.
Good job man, this is very inspirational!! Not anything like at that level but, just goes to show just what can be done with perseverance and the right attitude!!! Again, great job!!! 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Great job man! Love the progression.
That final cut was good man. Well done!
You should never get discouraged for having problems learning anything Dimebag ever did on guitar. Dime was a one of a kind guitar player with his own signature way of playing and is a legend. That being said, your final result was fantastic ! Great job.
gratz man! good job!!!
Dude, this is GREAT! Keep doing those series
This right here is more inspirational content for guitar players than the most technical and polished youtube covers out there. Great job by the way!
aww thanks! 🙇♂️ I really appreciate that
Thanks a lot for this video. Very humble and inspiring
Awesome, dude!! Nice job!! 🤘🤘
Great video. And it sound good actually. It gave me the inspiration to go back and try to learn that Walk solo i never got right. Keep up the good work. Thanks.
Lol I remember I filmed myself playing the enter sandman solo when I felt like I had it nailed down pretty good. I watched it and felt embarrassed my parents had to hear that lol
LMAO it happens me everytime
At the end of the day you’ll always be your biggest critic
My VCR always sped up playback so my solos always sounded better after filming
Thanks for this, it really inspired me
Nice job man! What a legendary Dime solo!
That was awesome! Took a lot of inspiration from this! 🤘🏻
You did awesome dude!!
Love the format for this, hope it’s something you continue with! 😊🙏
Great job man, it’s sounded great
HECK YEAH BUD!!! Crushed it! Great job Jamie!
Yayyyy ❤️ 🍉
RiP dime 🤘🤠🤘 awesome video keep em coming love watching them can u do one with your rig , show off the axes , amps pick ups etc love your set ups
Awesome job! 🤘
Great job man, the little parts where you expressed your insecurities made it really easy to relate to. Keep up the good work 🤘🏼
Excellent ,well done
Amazing video, fantastic to show the work and effort and show that we all have huge expectations of ourselves but you can over come them. Keep practicing bro. Also pressing that record button does add so much pressure and its great to see it applies to a top musician like yours Jamie
Thank you for this, seeing flawless musicians all over RUclips can be discouraging, it's nice to see that we all have things we can work on to be better...
Exactly. Nobody is perfect! I’m happy to share my vulnerabilities with all of you 🍉
That was mega dude! Shows what determination and hardwork yields if your willing to do it. Nice!
Thanks bro 🍉
Great job! One of my favorite solos from Dime for sure. Great inspirational clip.
I gotta admit....I was excited for you. Congrats and great job!!!
Hell yeah!!! Great progress on the Pantera solo. 🤘🤘
Thanks bro! I had so much fun
This is actually great to watch as someone who gets kind of discouraged when watching flawless players all the time. Seeing the process is nice. Thanks Jamie.
Thanks bro!! :) I think I’m gonna start my next challenge tomorrow!!
I've been doing exactly this with the song verminous by black dahlia. That rhythm is so fast but after a week or so of really burning the patterns into my brain/fingers with the metronome I can finally play it just about at full speed & pretty damn clean. Gotta love picking something difficult & working on it & the feeling of finally nailing it is worth the work 100000%. Great job dude!!
Yes it’s all about the repetition muscle memory! 🍉
Nice.... We need more of this type of video Jamie.
Yayyyyy. Successss
It was refreshing to see a guitar play showing us all their mistakes and showing us their actual playing & not hiding it behind clever editing that makes it sound way cleaner than it actually is.
Aww thanks bro! Yeh I wanted it to be real
Dude I love this video!
Awesome job man, that beastly TBDM shirt def would have boosted my confidence. Good shit seriously respectable.
YOU STUD YOU!!! what a beast!! nice job my man!
Great progress man!!
Nice job mate! Sounded awesome
It's really nice to see how you improved over the course of 7 days, especially your picking hand - I wish this format would become a staple to lift the clean image off of guitar covers and playthroughs and show other musicians that music is no competition but a collaborative effort. Great Job!
Thanks bro!! 100% agree and will become a monthly video :)
As Dime would've pointed out - Getcha Pull!
Nice job man. You nailed it. Really impressive.
Pretty damn good job my sir!
Well done!
I practiced the outro to floods for 2 months before I could nail it (I’ve been playing guitar 27 years.
Ripping go man,great job!
Excellent. Best video yet. Keep it up.
👊 thanks bro!
GODDAMN! I loved the "I did it" at the end, metal af,gunna watch more of you, gained another fan.
Thanks bro!! Yeh I was so elated haha
Cool vid bro 🤟🤟 and great playing 👏👏👏
Good job man!!! You nailed it!!!!
Good idea. 30 mins a day is a doable, and it looks like just 7 days makes a pretty big difference! Your solo sounds good, man!
Yeh!! Thanks bro! :) it was so fun
Great video really inspiring mate
Cheers mate 🍉
sweet playing, proud of u :)
Smashed it, nicely done. I'd be interested in seeing more progression over time videos from you, especially as this way only 7 days and you improved greatly. Awesome work man
you watched A LOT OF BOXY. solo sounded awesome man
Boxy?
i really enjoyed this video dude 🔥💜💜
Mighty good work old chap 👌😝
Great video and nice work shows what practice can do for you
Thanks bro!
As someone who's buying their first guitar soon, this has inspired me greatly. Thank you so much for making this video. 🔥
Thank you so much
Oh my god you bloody did it!! 🤘🤘
Well done, dude! I also LOOOOOVED this song, but never got to learn the solo properly, I always just thought it was so far away from my skill level that I kept saying "one day". Great job of making it a goal, putting in the reps and achieving it! Love it!
good job dude. coming from the riff into the bends is where the real work is. Took me ages to be able to get that part right. If you miss it throws the solo out completely.
dude that was awesome. made me feel good inside
This was killer mate, fair play to you.
Thanks bro!!
Love these videos! They are more relatable to us guitar novices lol
loved this! please do more!!
Love this!!!
Practice paid off!!! Killed it son!!🤙🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
Well this is how you learn solos when you have wife and kids. 30 min/day except your get honest feedback constantly, like ”stop it, shut up, you are too loud...” etc. That just make you learn really fast.
Haha yep
Not just me then. 30 mins a day would be amazing 😂
Try being a drummer with a family :) They hate me but at least they can't pull the plug on me...
Lol my sisters use to say I was making them use their outside voices
I’m a drummer but I love your videos man. You’re very good. Keep it up! Good job 👍🏻
Awesome 👏 Dimebag would be proud!!!
Great job dude
Impressive, brotha. Nice job! 🤘
I love your humility, I have been playing guitar off and on for years. Through going back to college, subconsciously I stayed away cause of self-consciousness. after watching this video, I want to learn again. Thank you very much for this. P.S: You have a new subscriber :D
